The property is absolutely lovely and the two ladies working there for the summer we’re just as sweet as can be. However, the owners would benefit from some training in the hospitality industry. We received an email before we arrived that our room was being changed. Not optimal but ok, but when we arrived we were placed in a different room all together. No clue why this was going on as we were one of only two guests. The windows in the bedroom had old, dusty, broken, white mini-blinds covering them. The wand to close them was gone and so they could not even be closed all the way so my kids were wide awake at 7 am. Normal creature comforts were not available. Instead of hotel soaps and shampoo you are offered a half used bottle of head and shoulders and a half used bottle of body wash. GROSS. We weren’t told not to use the bathtub and when we did it flooded the whole bathroom ans the owner blamed me for not knowing not to use it. The property is beautiful, and deserves hospitality that lives up to its beauty. The breakfast was better than expected, although exactly the same each day.

The property and landscape were stunning and the rooms were unique and gorgeous. The food was excellent and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. I was there for a romantic overnight stay but i could see how it would be a beautiful place for a wedding or any other event really. It is a really special place.

We spent 3 nights here in two different rooms. Spectacular physical natural and manmade setting and a wonderful breakfast included, made this stay cost efficient. Severly understaffed. Do not stay here if it is humid or hot outside- room airconditioners are inadequate. I spent 2 miserable sleepless nights sweating. The shower floor felt like it was going to break This place is in obvious need of updating. The 3rd night we moved to a room called "Florence", which was an improvement. The bathroom was nice except for when a Drunken wedding guest walked in on my daughter. The price was very reasonable and this was its saving grace. The location is fantastic and the staff are extremely pleasant but obviously "harried". The chef is phenomenal! Perhaps if it wasn't so humid, we may have overlooked the imperfections.

Suncliff is a fantastic property that is 1000 miles away from a highway Holiday Inn Express in every way. As you know now, this is a very old mansion that was once a convent, was abandoned for a few years, and has since been made into a hotel and event space. It's absolutely charming in every way, but if you expect 5 star you may be disappointed. The owners are slowly rehabbing the entire property, but understandably due to COVID and the sheer cost of restoring a property of this size and vintage, it's going slowly. The room we stayed in was completely remodeled and everything was fantastic. The rest of the main building is absolutely fascinating, but everything really could use renovation. That's not to say it wasn't clean, but it needs things like new wallpaper / fixtures, furniture, etc. And for such a potentially luxurious property those things don't come cheap. Nonetheless, the owners do a wonderful job at hospitality. The breakfast was fantastic, and the grounds are truly expansive and gorgeous. The beds were really comfortable. The vibe was truly old-school and a little bit haunted (in a good way). We didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner but the people who did seemed to be having a good time. All things considered my family had a fantastic time - Suncliff is a place we will not soon forget. We stay in chain hotels with pools and those are all the same soulless nights. If you want a fascinating and unique stay, Suncliff is worth your time and money.

Sadly it rained during our brief stay, but I imagine the grounds are fantastic to wander around. Breakfast included tea, coffee, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, French toast and fresh fruit. I did find it odd that there were no fresh bread products. We stayed in the former dormitory (of what used to be a convent), so the rooms were small but clean and serviceable, with a shared toilet between two single rooms (one of which had a bunk bed).

Neat, old historical mansion on the lake
We LOVED Suncliff. This historical mansion has an interesting history and lovely location. The owners are in the process of restoring the mansion which is being used as an event venue and also as a hotel. We were there mid-week and were one of only a couple guests. The owner was friendly and engaging, willing to share the history of the mansion and his experiences turning it into a hotel. The public spaces are lovely. The room we stayed in was clean, beds comfortable, linens impeccable. The decor is still in process, serviceable but not yet completely restored. Nevertheless, we loved our stay and will return.

Anticipating next stay!
This was my 3rd stay at this unique property & was as enjoyable as the previous 2! My room was clean, very spacious & afforded me a great night's sleep. I misunderstood the breakfast hours but was graciously accommodated even though it clearly was my error! That speaks volumes for what you can expect as a guest as the owners are good people & care about your experience.
