This historic (newly refurbished) gem in the centre of Rye is perfect for access to a brilliant town. Within a few metres of a superb restaurant and a jazz bar to finish our evening, our midweek getaway overnight met all possible needs (parking aside, but that's everywhere in Rye). Cuteness of a 1500's building was assured with no 90 degree angle to be found in the room - 25 degrees out of true applied to the floor, doorways, etc. Makes you feel like you're experiencing history 1st hand.

There's lots to praise about the George - the wonderful welcome from Lucinda and the quality furnishings. What we weren't expecting was the total absence of air conditioning (fan provided) and, in the annex, being totally overlooked from all sides. So if the windows are open for air, you had better close them before sunrise or don't have the lights on when in the buff. Our second major disappointment was the Apple TV which requires apps to watch it. The TV's 'lose' the apps and then there's no way to even see the news at night or first thing in the morning. The poor receptionist has calls from guests to reset tv's at least 6 times a night -very poor show at the premium price range. This suggests a manager who has invested lots of money in a system that doesn't work and is now adamant he won't own up. We won't return as even a Travel Lodge has a working TV...

We loved our stay, our room was gorgeous and we were upgraded to a junior suite for my boyfriend’s birthday which was so special. The courtyard was so nice and all the features of the hotel were lovely. Delicious breakfast too.

Comfortable And Welcoming
A most comfortable Hotel, bar and restaurant on the High Street in Rye. Our room was well appoint and most comfortable. The bar and restaurant offer great service and food so, if you do not want to go far, there is no need to leave the premises. Every member of staff we went, from reception, bar and restaurant was cheerful, polite and most willing to help. We will most certainly return.

Nice property in a great, convenient location with a nice bar and courtyard area. The only thing that let it down was the breakfast. On the face of it the hot breakfast menu looked varied and had plenty of choice. However portions were small, and the restaurant seemed understaffed. Our avocado toast turned up without the bread being toasted, and others orders of potato and spinach left a little to be desired. Kitchen staff seemed rushed off their feet. There also could have been more choice with the cold breakfast options which was limited.

The George Inn, Rye
The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room and all areas were exceptionally clean, thete was a good choice for breakfast and very well cooked. The location is perfect. Would highly recommend this hotel and plan to go back.

Just returned from a 2 day break to Rye. We did the wine tour at Gusbourne estate and wanted to have a base nearby. The hotel was fantastic. Beautifully decorated and the staff were amazing. It has a lot of charm and hidden rooms and corners and a really great location. Will definitely go back and stay next time we’re in the area.

We had an enjoyable stay at this lovely hotel, June 27th-29th, whilst visiting Gusbourne. We were impressed by all of the staff but a special mention goes to Ruyman who was outstanding.

Relaxed but stylish hotel
Very well presented hotel in central Rye, right on the high street. Great well appointed room with a luxury en suite and super comfortable bed. The bar was great and gives you the option to drink after the pubs shut (early in Rye). The restaurant was well designed and decorated like the rest of the hotel though we eat at Fletchers for dinner. The hotel’s breakfast was the only thing I wouldn’t give 5 stars for but it didn’t spoil our stay particularly it was just wasn’t very tasty or aspirational like the rest of the hotel was.
