Good location but expensive
Good location. Room was nice with good layout, excellent wardrobe space and tv. Bathroom had a very large shower and was well set out. We had 4 pillows and all were terrible but the bed was ok. Lifts took ages each time we needed to use them but generally we walked the stairs. Staff were friendly but sometimes lacked clearing breakfast tables.

Rooms were spacious and very clean. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was fine but not great. Location was perfect. Dram of whisky, in the room, was fun- wish it had been available every day. Oscar, in the Press Room, was incredibly friendly and fun to spend the evening with.

Great staff and location, needs upkeeping
Staff is amazing and hotel is historic with big comfortable rooms. Unfortunately our heating system was not operating so room was chilly- staff gave us portable heater but obviously if spending 500 pounds a night expected better room temperature controls. The hotel also coils touch us its doorways that appear beat up from all the suitcases banging into them. But the staff makes up for these minor shortcomings plus the ideal location.

I loved this hotel! It is a few steps to the Royal Mile and quick walking distance to the castle. It is in the heart of the area where you want to be. It is beautiful and the staff is very helpful. The hotel is across the street from the main train station. July 2024

A little hard to find….
Once we found and settled in to the hotel it was a very pleasant stay. There is construction at the main entrance and you need to used the market street entrance especially if arriving by car. There is a taxi park where you can stop and have the concierge come down and take your luggage (you will need to go up and fetch them) and then the car park is just down the street, about a 5 min. walk back to the hotel. Our room wasn’t ready as we arrived early, but our bags were brought up to the room and we had a quick bite at the restaurant. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff at the hotel and the restaurant were great.

We love staying at The Scotsman. The hotel was comfortable, convenient, and the amenities made it feel really special. The service was also top notch. It was tricky to find our way to the ground floor entrance with the construction but once we made it we were all set. The WiFi is also unreliable on the higher floors. Overall amazing stay!

Location great. Rooms very nice. Service was terrible. The employee are young college students who do not know how to work a computer system. We ran into problems ordering food in the main restaurant. I was told that I could not get a print out of my stay because I booked with hotels.com.

Spots on furniture and found a bracelet next to bed from previous people staying at property. Cleaning was not done thoroughly. Was not made aware prior to booking of bridge being restored and had to get in lower level back of hotel. Staff was very friendly from bellman to front office staff. I feel $ 750 stay at this hotel should have been of higher quality in cleanliness and no construction. Besides had to extra 30 Scottish pounds checking out little after 1 pm and was tools 15 English pounds at 1 pm and didn’t want to argue over extra Scottish 15 pounds. Got great help bellman directions and Scottish plug to charge my American plug for my phone. Great central location but feel I was overcharged!
