The hotel was in a nice road in quite a smart bit of Edinburgh, with a bus stop just round the corner – so perfect for returning home late at night on my own. The room was clean – small, but I knew it would be. Teas and coffees provided. When I booked it I hadn't realised it said private bathroom rather than ensuite, but I didn't mind this, assuming that meant it was my own bathroom, but outside the room rather than within it. Turns out that 'private bathroom' actually means 'with lock' as it was very much a shared bathroom, on the floor below, although there is a tiny loo on the top floor. The worst thing about the room, however, is the fact that there's no window, just a skylight covered with a sort of lace curtain thing. So there is no view, and no way of seeing what the weather's doing, and it felt very claustrophobic in there.
While I would consider booking this hotel again, I wouldn't book that room again, and I would suggest that Expedia should review the mention of 'private bathroom' and change it to 'shared bathroom'.
