I don’t know what it is, but Choice hotels do not stay up on their regular maintenance. Things are always in need of repair. And this place had a terrible musty smell… Really gross. The beds were comfy, and everything appeared clean, but in need of upkeep and repair, and the smell is just dank and musty and gross.

Um. Just read it.
Wellllllll. Booked this hotel as a last minute trip to Virginia for my dad and I because it was about $100 cheaper than we normally stay (this shoulda been the clue). I quote my father, “the shower is like taking a bath with a bucket with holes for the shower head.” Also found a USED, DIRTY CONDOM in the drawer by the bed. I mean we had 2 trash cans in the room. Breakfast was 7/10. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Overall this was a good stay. Good breakfast with eggs, waffles, muffins, sausage, yogurt, and cereal. The room was very spacious, though it had some stains on the carpet and furniture. One of the big negatives was there was no house keeping, including even just making the bed or getting more toilet paper.

You get what you pay for. As the cheapest of the 3 hotels in the area. The toilet had a ring around and was running from the time we opened the fort until we checked out. The popcorn ceiling was flaking off. People were outside camping in the lawn in lawn chairs.

Mediocre at best
Despite good ratings when I booked, the hotel seemed dated and worn. It appeared to be well cleaned, but the tub was clearly old, tired, and well worn. The bathroom's wallpaper was falling off. The shower barely had enough pressure to shower.

The staff were friendly and helpful but the property seems a bit in disrepair. We were told we could not have a first floor room because all the TV's were broken and, since we were traveling with a child, they wanted to give us a room that had a functioning tv. That said, our 2nd floor room tv was not working either. The ice machine on the first floor was not working and the staff stated that sometimes it did and sometimes it did not which made it seem like an ongoing problem. The only other ice machine was on the third floor on the opposite end of the hall from the elevator so you had some distance to go to get to it. The 3rd floor a/c was not working in the hallways so it was quite hot and stuffy up there. Our room was quite comfortable and decorated very well. My only issue with the room was that the tub and fixtures in the bathroom appeared dingy and old. Also, as mentioned, the TV did not work. The beds were comfortable and the ac was cold and the room was clean. The breakfast is stated as continental but they do have hot food options like waffles and something that would have been in a chafing warmer but on the day we were there, no hot food was available because the employee responsible was late and not there in time to have it ready.

Great for what we needed. Staff was very nice and helpful and everything was clean. Owner should expand maintenance budget. Building needs new service doors on left side of building. Looks like an old repair was to cover the rust with plywood. That old repair was falling off. Drop ceilings in bathroom had rust on the metal. Caulk in bathroom didn’t match. It’s obvious the staff works hard and does the best it can with what it has to work with.
