I find it difficult to capture the foreign untamed beauty and re-imagined historical site with words. The unique, calm and gentle intimacy with the rainforest was our first taste here, followed by a humbling and powerful downpour. In the great wonder and beauty from the pervasive jungle and powerful storm, we felt our trouble shrink and nature grow, swirling around our room. The morning greeted us with new excitement, starting with the incredible view of the ocean and bright joyful flowers. The brilliant clear skies lit an almost forgotten time, resolute and worn by nature, we explored the re-purposed plantation. The main house stands proud and positioned to over look the front of the property. Its walls seemed ready to withstand every unexpected storm. The stacked stones were beautiful and large surrounded by eager and fertile plants, determined to take back the land from its first settlers. The owners took great care to tend to the plants and animals of their property in ways that balanced utility, beauty, and respect. A great example beyond just vision, was the breakfast. All together, the guests here ate and talked kindly together for our homemade and locally sourced meal. I'd never tried vegan food besides whatever is available in a plastic wrapper at the store. This was the best breakfast I had on the island. As we neared the final bites of our meal, one of the owners told us of the history, biology, and passion that existed here. Don't miss this brilliant experience.
