Beautiful location with some quirks
There are a lot of great things about "Spirit of the Sky." The location is beautiful, with views of the river and a luscious back yard. I'd love to stay there in the summer or early fall when we could enjoy the outdoor space more. The hot tub, internet, heat, gas fire place, and major kitchen appliances all worked great and contributed to a comfortable stay. The kitchen has some minor disrepair issues: a drawer that has no bottom; a fridge door that swings open all the way to the side of the fridge if you don't stop it with your hand; a coffee maker that didn't work for us (although we found a smaller one in a cupboard that worked great!); and some cupboards that were peeling. The bigger issue for us was the plastic cover on one of the upstairs beds that made a lot of noise when trying to sleep. It was so disruptive for us that we couldn't sleep on it. Fortunately there was a futon available. Not the most comfortable but better than the noisy plastic! We would need to know that the owner had replaced the plastic cover with a traditional mattress pad before booking this property again. The place was clean when we arrived but seemed to be short on towels (no paper towels, one kitchen towel, and barely enough bath towels) until we discovered a plethora of towels in the dryer the day before we left. The cabin was adequate for our needs but has the potential to be amazing with a little more attention to repairs and details.

Great location near the river
Great location. However we found that the listing misrepresents how the property looks and actually is. On reflection the photos appear photoshopped. While the cabin was overall clean it became apparent that it was a little uncared for eg the fridge door had lost all its shelving and the door swings open unless held on to. I spent 45 mins cleaning the coffee maker carafe because it was so encrusted with stains. Some of the cooking pans are in a state of disrepair. There was no auto dishwashing liquid left for us. One of the main beds had a mattress cover that was extremely noisy and kept a family member from sleeping well. While these may seem like small matters the cumulative effect was frustrating. The guest contact/owner was easy to reach and responsive, did offer us a refund for the remaining nights if we chose to leave, said the feedback was duly noted. We chose to stay because we had nowhere else to go at short notice and we’re visiting family from out of state. We still managed to enjoy our stay in the area. The yard and hot tub were great. We didn’t use the latter because it was hot weather.

Great River Getaway
Stayed over 4th of July. Great spot and easy access to the river. Quiet and nice area when you have little ones. Definitely would stay again. Great spot and the house has window AC units and interior fans which helped as it was in the mid 80s and low 90s while we were there.

Best spot in Gold Bar/Index area!
I've stayed in the Gold Bar/Index area multiple times for hiking getaways, and this has been my favorite rental by far. Spotlessly clean in and out; comfy bedrooms (one facing the river -- leave the doors open for that river sound that guarantees the best sleep ever); huge, well-equipped kitchen; quiet neighborhood; stunning backyard with great firepit and path down to the river; the newest, cleanest hot tub of any place I've rented in WA state; easy access to great hiking; fast, easy, excellent, communication with the proper manager. 5 stars is too low a rating for this property. I was here with my brother & we had a blast. I will return with my husband, and we'll stay longer.

Convenient Cabin on the River
The cabin can easily sleep 9 if 8 are willing to share beds and bedrooms and 1 sleeps on the couch. The house is accurately described. It’s on the river, has a fully equipped kitchen, the hot tub seats 3 comfortably, is near hiking. The only issue we had was with the keyless entry. The cabin has 3 keypads at the front door, 2 are clearly keypads and one looks like a doorbell camera. We contacted the property manager because the code did not work on the keypads. The property manager called us back in about 30 minutes and told us the doorbell camera looking thing was actually the keypad, you have to touch it to activate and light up the touchscreen. I’m not complaining, this was clearly user error and we learned from the situation. We enjoyed the hot tub after doing some nearby hiking. We will book this property again!

Love this place!
Easily one of my favorite places that I’ve stayed. I loved the layout of the house with the back yard, fire pit, and river all at my fingertips. The beds were comfortable, air conditioning in the rooms, kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cookware, etc…. I could go on and on. I felt like it was a great location and somewhere I I would definitely stay again!

Had everything we needed for a nice quiet weekend the hot tub was nice the place was clean. The shower was a rainfall but had little water pressure which made it hard to rinse off shampoo out of hair but other than that everything was great. Still not sure on the pet policy when booked I searched for pet friendly but when I went to pay pet deposit and red the rental agreement it said no pets but when we got there there was pet dishes and the rules on the wall with the checkout instructions had a rule to keep pets off the furniture so wish it was more clear on that issue.

Cute getaway!
It’s a nice little cabin with a great view of nearby mountains and being on the river. The pictures make it seem a little more private than it is (there’s neighbors directly on both sides) but plenty of trees and fence to make it feel mostly private. The hot tub was perfect for a cold PNW day and night. Location is convenient for stevens pass, but not too far into the mountains where the roads were slick. The cabin was very clean and had everything you could ask for for a rental property. Beds were decent, although a little noisy. Would definitely recommend this place for a couple or two!

what to expect..
I'd like to break my review down into pros and cons. Pros: The house is beautiful and in a stunning a location right on the river. Great space for a couples get away or family time. They had a total of 4 queen size beds ( 2 in each room ) The dining table is a great size and the kitchen was very well stocked with pots and pans and utensils. The neighbors didn't appear to be home so it was very quiet. Hot tub was clean and worked well. Wifi worked well also. Cons: When we arrived it was pouring down rain and all I wanted was to get the fireplace going, the fireplace does not work. I reached out to the manager and she informed me that the gas company needed to come and light the pilot. The fireplace was a huge reason why I booked this cabin because it was cold out and I wanted a cozy place to relax. Also when we arrived the house was pretty clean for the most part but in the master bedroom there was trash on the floor, a candy wrapper and a ziplock bag, there was popcorn in the living area on the floor and hair / dirt on the kitchen floor. Our second day in the cabin we had no running water ALL day. Literally from 8am to 6pm at night there was no running water. There were 3 of us and one bathroom to share. My husband had to drive to the nearest store and get jugs of water just so we could flush the toilet - while I understand this wasn't in the hosts control, it was a planned by the city to turn off the water and I wish we would have been informed prior to our stay. Please know that the fan above the stove does not work so if you plan on cooking open the windows because it gets smokey! 1 small bathroom in the whole place, it wasn't a big deal for us but just keep it in mind if you have a large family. overall we enjoyed our stay for the location. The river flooded and got super high but it was honestly cool to see. I highly recommend Wallace falls if you like to hike, and Vicks burger shack is SO good. Also get pie from Mountain view diner.

Comfortable cabin with character
Our family of four stayed for two nights to attend a wedding in Index. The house was super clean and cozy with bright colors and an artistic aesthetic. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and the bedrooms were very comfortable, including the futon style beds tucked under the eves. Our teens loved the privacy curtains! We enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated that it was turned on and warm when we arrived (something you can't always count on). A bonus was that the home had an EV charger on the outside wall next to the driveway. Although you're asked to bring your own cables, their ChargePoint cable worked perfectly for our Chevy Bolt. The only thing to note is that the internet connectivity was laggy during our stay. It didn't hinder us much and may not have been related to the house (maybe internet provider), but would recommend getting additional wifi boosters. Finally, the point at the end of the yard to enjoy the view and access river was lovely. We would recommend staying here and will be back if we're in the area again.

Great stay by the river
Overall, this was an excellent spot! The house is spacious, well-maintained, and on a beautiful spot looking out at the river. Pet-friendly, close to lots of hiking spots, and the hot tub is fantastic! The house would be even better with a few friendly touches, like towel bars, coasters, a reading lamp by the sofa--small details--and we didn't like being forced to create an account with the property owner company just to get our check-in info--but overall we had a great time and would go back, any season!

Love this location, so cute and beautiful. The extra beds in each room allow for a larger party than we had, but each person enjoyed their own bed. We had 4 of us and 4 queen beds were perfect for the small and big boys 19/20 yrs old. Hot tub was great with fresh snow falling. Christmas boarding trip 2 remember.
