Good bones but
This is a perfectly fine hotel with a lovely lobby, good service and good cocktails. The Wi-Fi was very spotty, dropping constantly. The climate control facility on the riverside of the property was very loud making it unappealing to open the window for fresh air

The buffet wasnā€™t the best for $23. The communal carpets were dirty. The location was great as well as the coffee shop. Staff was super nice.

Dealing with the cruise people was sort of a pain. The wait staff in the lounge needed to brush up on alcohol names and cocktails. Your POS was not up to date as I could see bottles on the shelf but had to argue with the waitress that you in deed had it in stock. The rooms were run down and used. Facelift needed. It was a clean as it could be

Cons: Our room was not ready when we checked in at 4pm. Desk staff were unhelpful from the start. They gave us our keys and didnā€™t give any instructions or directions until we obviously looked lost in the lobby. I requested a king bed 3 months prior to our trip and it wasnā€™t fulfilled. We ended up sleeping in separate full size beds. TV has terrible lines running through it no matter what channel it was on. Pros: Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

A staff member knocked on my door and woke me up at 8:00 am to ask me what time I was checking out, despite checkout time being at 11:00am. They are also very geared towards Princess Cruise line guests; if youā€™re not part of a cruise package then you donā€™t get some of the things their website offers, like airport shuttle.

If you are not with a tour group = Princess/ this is a very weird place to stay. But it has great amenities (shop/restaurant/coffee bar), river side walk and is so convenient to the airport. The staff tried to be nice but if you had to deal with cruise/tour group people as a rule, you might be testy. If you want to experience real Fairbanks, stay downtown or over by the WalMart. Iā€™ve stayed at many different places there over the years and donā€™t need to go back to the Princess Lodge- and they donā€™t really want me.

I appreciated the opportunity for a stay at the last minute. The staff were really responsive and excellent-- particular kudos go out to the front desk and tour desk folks. Very very helpful and friendly. the grounds and location are also beautiful. As this is a location for cruise transfers, you should know it feels a little like a train station. The health club was closed, with no notice until you walked downstairs. I checked out early due to a change in plans, and they were having trouble finding my foliio. In the middle the manager came up and acted as if I was asking for a refund for the final night, which I was not. You should also know there is no housekeeping service at all unless you ask for it. But with these criticisms, it was a comfortable and nice place to land. Also if you are booking on expedia, check before you finalize to see if there are any specials if you book direct. They had a 50 percent off second night that I could not get with my expedia booking. I recommend.

Location was good- close to the airport and was central to many other attractions. The facility is beautiful and the dining services were good but extremely expensive. We did not like the small room. There was no fridge and no view. The shower head was old: the hand-held type that needed to be hooked on the wall to stay put but it was not staying in place. We paid $285/night for the room and was disappointed.
