Overall impression and historical value:
It is the ground floor in one of the few, typical, originally preserved Fehmaran farmhouses. The house belongs to a formerly large-scale courtyard, which with its independent character has shaped the rural image of the holiday island. Parts of the courtyard were demolished in the 1970s and replaced by new buildings that were visually adapted to the rural style. The house was restored with great attention to detail in 2012/13 and further upgraded in 2017/18. This has resulted in a real rarity.
The large amount of valuable old building fabric that still exists makes the house a special place. Purely aesthetically in accordance with traditional Fehmarn building culture, it is a one-storey, nine-axis, wide building with a dwarf house and a full hull in largely original brick and traditional clay pan. In part, the half-timbered building made of hand-molded clay bricks is exposed in the house. Original country house doors and oak panels from the Wilhelminian period were refurbished and glue-colored paintings on the living room walls were exposed. Some rooms are decorated with simple North German stucco elements.
Most of the floors in the hallways and entrance hall are traditionally made of terrazzo. High-quality oak herringbone parquet, refurbished and Scandinavian-style white glazed pine planks (Pitch Pine) and Villeroy & Boch Mettlach Art Nouveau mosaic tiles of timeless elegance have been preserved.
Interior / equipment:
The current state is true to the state of the 2nd Half of the 19th Century (the house was first mentioned in 1820), mixed with modern elements. The division has been consistently maintained and is historically designed so that three generations (multi-generation house) and additional workers were comfortably accommodated. Today the house on the ground floor can comfortably accommodate up to 11 people.
Kitchen:
In the spacious kitchen there is a kitchen island with an integrated ceramic hob (with childproof lock) and a large dishwasher in the middle of the room. The kitchen area is tiled with antique VILLEROY & BOCH Mettlach mosaic tiles (cement tiles) from the turn of the century. Inside there is an old porcelain washstone, an oven, a microwave and a free-hanging island extractor hood. The kitchen, which can accommodate over 30 people, borders the large dining room and has a window to the south-west facing terrace.
bathrooms:
The house has three bathrooms and an additional large wet and bath area with a sauna area. In all bathrooms there are traditional high-quality English fittings from DEVON & DEVON, TRADITIONAL BATHROOMS (as you know it from the SOHO-HOUSE group) and some antique, original, e.g. B. Washbasins from a Berlin hotel building from the 1920s by architect ROBERT LEIBNIZ (Adlon Berlin). Three of the rooms have private bathrooms, two of which have traditional freestanding claw-foot bathtubs. The tiles in the bathrooms are either new mosaic tiles based on the historical model from the company VIA or original originals from the company VILLEROY & BOCH METTLACH that are over 100 years old. The bathrooms are equipped with chrome-plated towel rail radiators. The fittings are modern, comfortable thermostat controls.
Terrace:
The terrace is the perfect place to enjoy the huge garden and the warm season. It extends over 60 square meters with traditional brick laid in a herringbone / ear pattern and edged with granite shelves. Easily accessible via the 50sqm living room and conveniently adjacent to the kitchen. It has a large table for 10 people and additional seating on benches and lounge furniture made of poly rattan. A grill is available. Two huge parasols provide shade when it gets too hot. Due to its west-facing position, you can watch breathtaking sunsets over the Orther-Reede from the terrace in summer.
Garden:
Sunbathing, cozy eating and barbecuing with friends on a white board or as a play area for the children. The garden, which has a 2000sqm area with an old fruit tree population, is surrounded by an old ingrown stone wall. Here you are absolutely on your own and can enjoy the tranquility of seclusion and the original nature.
Room:
Nothing is more important than a good night's sleep. Therefore, all beds in the bedrooms are equipped with high quality mattresses. Exquisite antiques, modern classics and modern furnishings are harmoniously combined in the rooms. Some rooms have their own bathroom as well as an attached living room so that you can retreat at any time. Over 600 programs can be received on modern flat-screen TVs or Bang & Olufsen (B&O) classics via a satellite system.
Location and surroundings:
This idyllic country estate is located near the beaches of Orther Reede and Fehmarn-Sund. The nearby beaches are different, so there is something for everyone. There are fine flat sandy beaches or stony natural sandy beaches where you can walk hundreds of meters into the Baltic Sea. On some beaches surfing is very important and on others you are almost alone and can enjoy the tranquility of nature. The popular areas for kite and windsurfers with their shallow water in gold and Strukkamp-Huk are easy to reach on foot or by bike. Two surf schools have been offering sailing, windsurfing courses and for some time also kite surfing courses there. The golf course 'Wulfener Berge' is in the vicinity. On the edge of a grain field behind the house, a megalithic grave / chicken grave can be admired in a small grove.
Ideal for family celebrations, weddings, anniversaries or birthdays.
Small conferences, symposia or workshops are possible.
Yoga groups will find the right space here.

Cleaning:
For the sake of good order, we would like to point out that it is noted in this advertisement that we can only offer final cleaning here. Therefore, the house has to be handed over roughly cleaned before departure, so that the cleaning team can carry out a final cleaning and not a basic cleaning. Vacuum cleaners, cleaning agents and materials are available in the house. For hygiene reasons, there are no groceries in the house on arrival and should not be left behind by the guests. The dishwashers must be empty. Dirty dishes must not be placed in the cupboards.
Firewood:
We do not provide firewood. Only appropriately dried firewood from the supermarket or petrol stations that has been aged for at least three years may be used. Our caretaker will give you an introduction to the stove on arrival. The stove must be cleaned roughly before departure. A special ash vacuum is available in the house.
