Amazing place to stay!
My girlfriend and I stayed the weekend here. The views were amazing along with the amenities. The living room has since been updated so it’s a little different than the listing but not by much! Everything about the cabin was so cozy and relaxing! Definitely recommend staying here!

Alyson was absolutely amazing and extremely kind. This home had one of the most stunning views at the top of the road, secluded and quiet. I would absolutely love to come back here and stay longer than a weekend. Make sure you bring coffee, all the food, and necessities you want for cooking if you plan on staying there.

Beautiful Setting to do ABSOLUTELY Nothing - in the best way
My husband and I wanted a place to get away and relax, with no need to be anywhere at any time. This place delivered that, as well as some amazing scenic skies. We arrived at dusk (do try to get there before the sun sets), so we didn't get to check out the view initially, but we awoke the following morning to a partial rainbow over the mountains, followed by the most colorful sunset I've ever seen, and literal twinkling stars at night. The majority of our time was spent in the spacious hot tub, bed swing, and gliders/rockers. We appreciated the string lights that hung from the deck of the master bedroom which had a huge, comfy bed. Being a light sleeper, I was worried when I saw 4 skylights in the bedroom, but with the tree coverage, it didn't get bright enough to interrupt our sleep. We chose to prepare all our meals within the house and were able to do so with the provided kitchen essentials. The only constructive thing I have to share is to bring a couple of additional "beach towels" if you intend to utilize the hot tub as often as we did. Two beach towels were provided, and we were able to throw them in the dryer, but it would have been nice to have had a couple of additional towels.

This property had everything we needed from the really comfortable king bed in the master to the great new outdoor pavilion with a really nice hot tub and huge swing. It has an incredible view and is very private. It is a great place to go if you are wanting to relax!

This is the fourth October we have stayed there. This year we were pleasantly surprised to see the completion of a new pavilion facing the susnset that included a nice new hot tub, table and chairs, a couple of comfy rocker/gliders and the best of all….a swing bed that was absolutely amazing!

This was our 5th visit to Bear Cub Cottage..What a beautiful place to spend the week..If you like peace and quiet along with Stunning Mountain Views, you will enjoy your time in Leatherwoods..With all the upgrades the owners have made, which includes a Open Air Pavilion along with a Swinging Day-Bed and Jacuzzi just adds to the overall beauty of the place..The cottage is always clean and well maintained..Just a really nice place to spend with family and friends..Signed: Jim and Karlene Stock..

Quiet and Beautiful
If you want to experience total quiet, with only the sounds of the breeze blowing through the leaves and the chirping of birds and crickets, this is a serene place you would enjoy. There was just a hint of the glorious splendor that is ahead in the next few weeks as a few trees on the hillside had leaves changing. We really appreciated the mums on the deck too. Spent most of our time there and loved it!

Small things matter
First for the positives. The view was nice and the cabin was clean. Enjoyed having coffee on the deck in the morning. The new deck and railing are nice. All of the negatives are small by themselves but added up. There are extra pillows but no pillowcases. Couldn’t find extra hand towels. The grill was so rusted that it wasn’t usable. We ended up leaving a day early because we couldn’t cook the steak birthday dinner on the grill as planned. I had specifically asked about the grill before going so I would know if it was propane or if we needed to provide charcoal. The ice maker doesn’t work. There were two manual ice trays but they were cracked and leaked.The hot tub needed a thorough cleaning. Some of the boards it is sitting on are rotting, especially where you step out. The grass was probably a foot tall which made it difficult for my husband’s service dog. All in all we did not think it was a good value for the money paid.

Exceeded my expectations!!
My husband and I chose this property because of the Mountain View. We wanted somewhere peaceful to spend our anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised by how perfect this property turned out to be! It is the last house at the top of the mountain. It was so secluded we felt like the only people in the world. Some mornings we woke up inside of clouds. The best part was the newly built covered deck with a full size day bed swing. We spent most of our time out here enjoying the sun, the rain, the breeze, and gorgeous sunsets over the mountains every night. The stars and moon from the hot tub were pretty amazing too. We even watched the moon set over the mountains a few nights. Inside was clean and welt kept with comfortable beds as well. It was a magical place and we hope to return one day!

Secluded getaway
We've stayed at this property 3 times now and it gets better every time. The new updates were amazing and made an extremely hot week more bearable to be outside. The views are spectacular and it doesn't feel like there is anyone else around you. I would recommend to anyone, just remember to bring bug spray, it is the mountains after all.

Great Retreat
My huaband enjoyed every minute of hiking with our Labrador. The cabin was cozy and the views were fantastic. We will be back! There were a lot of ticks on the trails (nothing to do with the property), so anyone bringing a dog, make sure they are protected with something. The deck that goes around the cabin is amazing! You can be out even if its raining. The host answered all of our questions within minutes! Highly recommend!

Short Getaway
Enjoyed our visit for 3 days. Nice area…great views. House was very clean. The owner would not work with us to reschedule our visit to a later date even though she had no bookings for the following 2 mos. So if that is important to you, you may want to reconsider. Also, it is time for a new mattress in the master bedroom…very mushy and worn. And I might suggest that the owner place body soap in the showers. It is quite a distance to go if you forget to bring your own.
