Great house with a few minor issues
We had a great time and would stay here again, but had a few minor issues. We arrived at the house and found that the trash can out front had been knocked over by animals (it’s right next to campground) and trash and food waste was found all over the ba

Great Get Away
Great location....cottage has just about everything you need. Gas fireplace was delightful. We had a very relaxing stay. The first bedroom mattress was a tad uncomfortable/old but we made due. Being able to hear the ocean, ride bikes or walk to the beach, and get to town in min are a huge plus!!

Delightful home, great location!
Had a great mini vacation at this delightful home. Easy and prompt communication with host, easy check-in. Could not be closer to MacKerricher State Park without being IN the park. Home was clean and comfortable. Kitchen was very well appointed. Bed in master bedroom was very comfortable.

Great location for this cozy home
Overall this is a comfortable home that is a wonderful location within easy walking distance to MacKerricher SP. It is comfortable, cozy with enough room for a couple, two dogs and a couple of children. It is too small for 4 adults. It is a dated property that needs some small updates. A little TLC would go a long way with this sweet spot. There is one shower that could use some caulking and perhaps a new shower head. There are lots of thumbtacks in the walls and several areas that pictures had been hung but the hangers were still in place. There are no wine glasses nor is there a kettle for boiling water other than drip coffee pots. For tea drinkers, that is a no no. One TV in the second bedroom worked but not the living room or master. That said, the appliances are up to date, there are plenty of dishes and glasses to use and lots of decorations. We did not use the gas grill because it had seen better days. We did not sit on the nice back porch because of what looked like old restaurant appliances in the way. The front porch is welcoming other than the plants that needed some care. We did not use the outdoor fire pit because of the branches over hanging it making it a dangerous fire issue. All of that said, I would definitely rent this space again because of its location and comforts like the beds and sofas plus it is pet friendly.

Great Location and Perfect for Pet
We struggled with the rating, because we both loved this place and were disappointed with the place. If possible, we would have given it a 4.5 stars rating. Things we loved: 1. Location. This home is just a few steps away from the state park, the beach, and miles of dog friendly trails. 2. House set up. The home is cute and feels roomy. It was clean. The front porch just calls your name to sit and relax. Backyard is unfenced, but has plenty of room to walk your pet. Quiet at night, and the one bed we used was very comfortable. 3. Just a short drive from Fort Bragg! Disappointments: 1. No coffee filters. The kitchen has 2 coffee makers, and ground coffee, but no filters! Not something you want to find out about at 7am. Fortunately the camp store was just around the corner, was open, and had filters for sale. 2. No hair dryer!! Yipes, you must have a hair dryer for your guests! This is a big issue for those of us who need one. 3. No wine glasses. Even if the owner does not drink wine, you must have a couple of wine glasses available. 2 liqueur glasses do not cut it. We would stay here again, for the location was perfect. If you are reading this review, just make sure you bring any supplies/appliances you must have, for there is no guarantee they will be here.

Quiet Retreat
Enjoyed a quiet peaceful time, and enjoyed the very comfortable and well equipped house. Family members were camping next door at MacKerriker State Park. I enjoyed meals around the campfire with the family, but was able to return to this quiet retreat for a comfortable night's sleep and a warm shower.

Sandy Clove is the Best
We love Sandy Clove! It's cute, clean, well-appointed and VERY CLOSE TO THE Mac Kerricher State Park beaches. I mean a 5-minute walk close. We stay there every time we go to Fort Bragg, which is as often as possible. The owner is very nice and responds to questions immediately.

Nice get-a-way
The cottage was cozy. We had a nice stay and the calla lilies are gorgeous in the back yard. A couple things that could improve the stay would be a new mattress in the spare bedroom, a refrigerator that stays closed or replace the seal on door, clean the mold and caulk above the shower wall. Those are small things. It was a nice relaxing stay. Also the grandkids loved the fire pit for roasting hotdogs and making smore's!

Great stay at the cottage
The location of this cottage was perfect for our family of 4 and our dog. The boys enjoyed the tv in their room, running around the yard and the dunes behind the house, and they had rave reviews about the comfort of the couches. Be aware that the yard is not fenced. Not a problem for our dog who wants to right near his people at all times. The kitchen lacked good knives for food prepping (only one butcher knife that was well beyond its years and a bread knife that broke out of the handle while I was trying to use it) so bring your own if you plan to cook while there. The location is amazing… right outside of MacKerricher State Park. Bonus, the park isn’t charging for day use right now so we could drive in with our beach gear at no extra charge. The property listening stated washing machine on site and I emailed the owner for clarification with no response. There is NO ACCESS to the washer/dryer. We look for this amenity while traveling with children so I was disappointed to see it wasn’t an option… a little misleading. The tv in the master isn’t working either (not a priority for me but an FYI). Overall, we enjoyed our stay and felt comfortable in the home. It accommodated our family of 4 well. Thank you!

Great location but thats about it.
Only good thing to say about this place is the location so close to the beach. I really wanted to like this place especially when it broke down to 404 per night. The entire time I was there the owner ignored any messages I sent to him. Which is a huge issue. We wanted to use the fire pit but it hadn't been dug out and there was no shovel around to do it myself. The ceiling fan and light didn't work at all in the 2nd bedroom manually or by the remote. The ceiling fan and light in the master bedroom worked but only manually not by the remote. The tv in the master bedroom didn't work. The lamp on the table in the living room didn't work. The shower had almost no pressure and half the water came out the tub spout instead of the shower head. The hooks on the back of the bathroom door and master bedroom door are falling out of the doors to where I was nervous to use them in fear of damaging them. When we first arrived after walking around in my socks for 10 minutes they were all black. I really hope they invest in some care and TLC for this property and pay for a proper house cleaner who actually does their job. Considering all the issues this location had that aren't even listed they shouldn't be charging so much for a stay here. It has some serious potential but only if the owner is willing to invest in their property

Sandy Clove Cottage Best Vacation Ever
Sandy Clove Cottage was so much more than just a vacation place!!! Above all the things to do in town, as well as the games and books to read at the cottage, it was truly a place to be able to slow down, breathe, relax, remember what's important in life. We have been vacationing in Fort Bragg for over 10 years. This is the 1st time we have 100% enjoyed staying in Fort Bragg. All because of Sandy Clove Cottage. We loved sitting on the front and back porches. So relaxing and beautiful to watch the wildlife. In the early morning and later in the evening you can hear the ocean. We enjoy going to the Train Museum and Glass Beach. We are "Beach bums" so we spend alot of time on the beach. So many things to do in Fort Bragg. Something for everyone. Back to Sandy Clove Cottage...can't wait to stay again. This was our 1st time of not staying in a hotel when we have come to Fort Bragg. We hope we left everything clean enough. Again, can't wait to go back. We have already recommended Sandy Clove Cottage to several people. Tim & Leilani McAndrews

We love staying in this comfortable cottage. We come with our kayak group and many of them camp in Mckerricer and this cottage is almost inside the state park. Very close to the beach and a beautiful coastal bike trail. The home is clean and has everything you need for a great vacation stay. We've stayed here multiple times and will be coming back in the future.
