This is the best place I have ever stayed
The cottage was warm, inviting, and exceptionally clean! I felt like I had stepped into Hansel and Gretel's world. The paintings (done by the owner) were amazing, and the decor was top shelf. The bed was comfortable and the cabin itself was roomy. Chef Barbara and Rene were incredibly accommodating. Breakfast was included and I can't possibly describe the food....it was simply amazing. We left early on our last morning and were therefore unable to eat breakfast, so they actually made us brown bag lunches! There aren't enough words to describe this beautiful experience. HIGHLY recomend!

Charming Spot!
I stayed up here for a night while traveling to pick up my son at camp about 10 miles away. It's a lovely spot and probably the cleanest B&B type place I've ever stayed. The arm chairs are cozy, the bed soft and welcoming, and the breakfast (served in the formal dining room to a crowd of just me) over-the-top delicious. No menu, which for a travel-weary person, was an extra treat. Come in, sit down, enjoy the wonderful food and just relax a bit.

Best Hidden Gem In Northern Maine
Our experience at the Canterbury Royale was to the highest level of attention. The cottage was inviting and was as if we were guests at a foreign location adorned with a beautiful arched pergola wrapped with mature grapes. The European influenced decor is stunning, along with Chef Renee’s hand carved woodwork throughout. Every new course brought in for dinner outdid the previous. The breakfast was crafted with thoughtfully with foods from around the world. Chef Barbara and Chef Renee were very professional and kind. We were left wanting nothing. We want to make this a yearly tradition!

A Treasure
A magical experience – you will feel like you’ve been dropped into a fairy tale. The cottage is immaculate and filled with lovingly hand-painted artwork. At mealtime, you will be treated like royalty by the chefs. Breakfast was exceptional. The bed is soft and comfy and the kitchen area is a convenient and nice feature to have. The cottage is in a calm, quiet location where you can easily enjoy the sounds of nature all around you. The attention to detail across the entire experience reflects the obvious passion the owners have for this place, and they could not have made me feel more welcome. This is a once-in-a-lifetime stay and a true treasure hidden in the enchanted woods of northern Maine!

What a sweet spot to stay! We loved this cute little cottage that had all of the amenities we needed. Our hosts Chef Barbara and Chef Renée have thought of everything. And as you can imagine, the breakfast that they prepared for us (which was included in our stay) was divine. We plan to stay again and book dinner at their exclusive restaurant, Canterbury Royale!

Breakfast blew us away!
The cottage is very quaint. It’s like a French-Swiss alps meets fairy tale/Alice in Wonderland cottage set way out in fort Fairfield, Maine, which is on the edge of the County and about a mile from the Canadian border. The place was very sweet with pretty little antiques and painted wood accents every where. The bed was soft and inviting. All and all 100 times better than the run down motels we’ve usually stayed in in that area. But then Breakfast (with an intentional capital B) was amazing and so unexpected! The dining room was set for a viscount or duchess or something like that. My husband and I were the only guests. The room was set and ready for us at our requested time and then we were served fresh fruit with house made cream (delicious), corned beef hash topped with a quail egg and a duck egg, home made herb sourdough bread, a lemon tart with meringues and delicious coffee, and jams on the side. We did not know this is a private restaurant that is booked 6-8 weeks in advance and only serves 6-8 people per night. We were so pleasantly surprised and, even though our son graduated from his school up there and we have no reason to go back, we will. We’ve got to try the dinner at the Canterbury Royale.
