Book your Foshan holiday
Foshan Holiday Packages
There's no doubt that Foshan is an important city.
Ancient opera. Priceless pottery. Bruce Lee. Sure, we all know that art and tradition are great, but they're nowhere near as cool as knowing that Foshan was the place where everybody started kung fu fighting. Today, this home to famous martial arts figures Wong Fei Hung and Ip Man (Bruce Lee's teacher) is a bustling industrial centre that's the perfect place to visit for culture buffs and martial arts aficionados alike. Read on to see what Foshan holiday packages have in store for you.
Things to Do in Foshan
After landing at nearby New Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) and busing into the city, pick up one of Wotif’s Foshan car hire options and get ready to see the sights. A great place for a self-directed walking tour, Nanfend Ancient Kiln is only 2 km from downtown and boasts two 30-m long kilns, where many museum-quality pieces were crafted hundreds of years ago. Liang Garden, with its heaps of ponds and fruit trees, makes for an equally relaxing walk. Craving a little more excitement? Book a lesson at a martial arts school in Xiqao Town, or visit the Bruce Lee Ancestor’s House (a museum) on Daliang Street in Shunde District. Families will enjoy the roller coaster at Daliang Children's Palace, as well as the bicycling and fishing on Haishou Island.
Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
You’re not just here for culture, though: you’re after some real Foshan deals. Bust out that credit card and start shopping at Commercial Street, a thoroughfare with multiple malls, a library and a temple. If you want to bring home folksy goods or locally produced art, check out Shiwan Pottery Art Street, which offers ceramics, silks, firecrackers, specialty paper and a number of bamboo-related goods.
Travellers certainly won't go hungry during their Foshan holidays. Chancheng District offers both Sichuan and Western-style cuisine. Additionally, you'll find a number of famous American fast-food chains there, too. Shunde District has several notable vegetarian restaurants for those desiring more healthy fare. There are Thai, Malaysian, and Vietnamese eateries scattered all over the city, as well as Indian. If it's local flavour you're looking for, try ordering Manggong cake, which is a pastry concocted out of rice flour, sesame, pork and peanuts. Or, taste some double-skin milk, which is a creamy custard sandwiched between two layers of sweet icing.
Foshan doesn't have quite the same "party city" reputation as nearby Shenzhen or Guangzhou. Still, there are plenty of watering holes around, and one of the best areas to get a drink while on holiday in Foshan is the aptly named Bar Street—Jiubajie—near Jihua Garden. The Lingnan Tiandi shopping district also offers a number of bars, so you can pop by for a pint any time.
