The Orca Inn was clean and comfortable. We had a king room. We were able to get into our room a bit early after getting off the ferry. It was nothing fancy, but adequate. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only problem was that we could hear our neighbor at 1:00 am.

VERY tiny and dated. The shower was new, but everything else was from the 60s. Nice area, and clean inside and out. If they could expand the room size and do a few upgrades, this place would be my go-to in Friday Harbor.

The Orca Inn is cheaper than most places in Friday Harbor but that doesn't mean it's cheap. Friday Harbor in the summer is a very expensive place to stay. The location is good - walkable to most places. We appreciated that they checked us in early and the staff was pleasant. We also appreciated the air conditioning on an unusually hot day. We were disappointed that there wasn't an ice machine that could meet the needs of the guests. The internet was out the night we were there which was also disappointing. The TV is through the internet so we couldn't catch up on the news we had missed while we had been off grid for a bit. Also, one of the beds was sort of broken.

Best Spot, Loved It
Sometimes all you need is a room with a bed because you don’t plan to use it but to sleep and it not cost an arm and a leg. This place was all that and even more! We planned on not being in the room more than sleeping and a micro-queen room was reasonably priced, and perfect for two people. Emphasis on the micro as it had a queen bed, but that was about all that fit, but it also had a window, mini fridge, ‘nightstand’ as the bed is against a wall and the other side has the toilet room, and even a desk and chair. Emphasis on micro as it’s a very tiny room, but perfect for our needs. The onsite manager was amazing and so friendly and helpful, the location was central and a quick walk from the airport or ferry terminal. The outside was clean and well kept and it a very comfortable area. The room was clean and well kept, even with the very limited room to move, the two of us slept, showered and got around each other easily. We are already planning our end of summer stay for the entire week! They do use old style physical keys, so keeping it with us and always locking the door was something we kinda kept in our mind. Plenty of space for parking; we didn’t use it but was convenient for each building. For being up against the wall we didn’t hear any of out next door guests while sleeping, occasionally a loud tv someone probably rolled over on by mistake. For the price it was easy for what we needed, a comfy bed after and day and night out in a convenient location & amazing staff

The interesting thing about this room is that it had two complete bathrooms, one on each side of the room. That was very convenient. The manager was very friendly and helpful with local suggestions. The location was ideal for exploring San Juan Island, and the price was decent.

Well worth the money
This hotel was cute and cozy. It was exactly what you would expect from an island inn. We had a room with 2 queen beds. It also had 2 bathrooms and 2 showers. The shower was a stand up only shower and seemed smaller than most. There wasn’t very much room to walk around the beds. These are not necessarily negatives, we enjoyed our stay and it suited us well. If we had smaller kids, I think it would have been difficult for them to have such limited space. It was very clean inside and out. We didn’t have any issues with it, we just wanted to share some info for other families.

Please do not waste your money on this Inn. The room was in terrible condition. Aging falling apart decor. Dirty shower and bathroom area. Dirty indoor/outdoor carpeting. There is only 1 foot space between the side of the bed and the wall. We could not open the door to the bathroom all the way because it hit the bed. We had no room for 2 suitcases. There were wasps outside our window. There were spiders in the room. The pathway to the room was blocked by an overgrown tree. The room is so tiny, so the sound of the mini fridge was overwhelming. The shower only has hot water for one person and then you have to wait at least 30 min for hot water again. They never came to service our room or replace towels after the first night. The room was so dirty and terrible we demanded our money back and we had to fight them for it. They eventually gave us 2 nights money back and we went to a different hotel. But they made us pay full price for the 2 nights we stayed even though the room was dirty and tiny. Please do not waste your money here.

They have done away with coffee and snacks in the morning! If you turn the TV up loud enough to hear others complain, if you turn it down all you can hear is others talking. Paper thin walls...
