Charming place near Frigiliana with beautiful gardens
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this casita. It was a well-equipped one-bedroom place, perfect for a couple. The highlight for us was the beautiful garden, a lovely spot to relax and soak up the sun. The location was also great. While situated on a main road so there was some traffic noise, it was manageable and didn't disrupt our sleep. The walk to the charming Old Town of Frigiliana was just 15 minutes, which we found convenient for exploring the area. Overall, this casita provided a great base for exploring Frigiliana and the surrounding area. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Glorious views, very charming house and garden, perfect spot for hiking Axarquia
Check in with a code for the gate and lockbox for the door key worked perfectly, which was great as we arrived late at night. It's a beautiful building and the interior is immediately appealing and unique, with original artworks. It's also very well laid out for lounging indoors and out, cooking and dining indoors and out. The kitchen is well equipped and has the world's best garlic press. The wood stove works well and so do all the appliances. The bed was too hard for us arthritic side sleepers - so a memory foam topper would have made it perfect. There's a fair amount of traffic noise from the main road, less of a problem at this time of year, and not noticeable indoors. We were mostly away early to go hiking and back after dark, but we had a few late morning breakfasts and afternoon beers on the sunny terrace and the traffic didn't bother us much. The house is perfectly situated for all the fabulous hikes in the nearby Sierra de Almijara and Tejeda or a stroll over to Frigiliana. Perfect holiday!

Ideal dwelling in top spot
Tastefully furnished and well-equipped home in sublime surroundings. The air conditioner (bedroom) in combination with the burning stove (living room) kept us comfortably warm at night (January). The doubly-glazed windows helped a lot in this respect and also provided efficient noise insulation, so that traffic noise and barking dogs were in no way perceived as a problem indoors. The manager and gardener Sebastián were extremely helpful and kind, as always.

Chill out
The property was very well presented and equipped with high quality furnishings and appliances. To our delight was the fact there was what English people like…..a teapot, egg cups and sink plugs! Such a pretty place to relax in both in the house and gardens. A slight downside was the intermittent barking of dogs at night but everything else makes up for that. It was easy to drive to different places and if you like some exercise, the walk up into Frigiliana will get your pulse rate up. It was a bit disappointing in that we were told we would be met by the manager and were not. My text to her would not deliver and in fact we did not hear from her or see her during our stay. Hence the 3 stars for that. We would certainly recommend a stay at La Cuadra.

Fabulous views, lovely Villa, very well equipped, Air con In the bedroom was a game changer
Superb location, spotlessly clean and well equipped villa, however the steps up to the villa were sometimes challenging depending on what time of the day it was and their was a dog that barked most of the night but keeping the windows in the bedroom closed helped minimise the noise.

A Great Little Casita
La Cuadra is a great little casita and we thoroughly enjoyed our three week holiday there. We particularly appreciated the total privacy and delightful garden, which we can confirm is not overlooked. The sun terrace is excellent and in July and August, the plunge pool, which is larger than it appears in the photos, must be a wonderful place to cool off. We didn’t have a hire car, but found that getting around on public transport was easy. The shops in Frigiliana provided everything we needed in terms of self catering and there were lots of locally grown vegetables on sale. We ate out on a number of occasions and didn’t have a bad meal in Frigiliana. There are plenty of places with good vegetarian and vegan options on their menus. Many thanks for a great three week holiday at La Cuadra.

The retreat
La Cuadra is a very cute unique property, cosy homely feel, with an eclectic mix of furnishings. The crockery, cutlery, gadgets and linens are of a good quality which was much appreciated and does make a difference. The plunge pool is larger than it looks in the photo and was totally adequate for dips to cool down, which we needed as the weather was superb for the 2 weeks bar a few hours. The steps up to the property didn’t bother us, it helps keep you fit, and it’s only a short walk into beautiful Frigiliana , and a short drive down to Nerja and along to Penoncillo which we know well. We fell in love with the area and will return. The property manager was so helpful, friendly and gave us plenty of recommendations for restaurants which we agreed with. We have left a new friend behind and look forward to returning.

A little corner of paradise
Absolutely amazing. We can not fault this place at all. Yes there are a lot of steps but you soon get used to them and there is a side gate that you can use which is only 25 steps so we would recommend using this. The privacy is the best we have stayed in and we have stayed in molineta for the past four years and elsewhere in the hamlet you are always overlooked from neighbouring villas but not so here. The sun terrace and plunge pool are perfect and after enjoying a cool morning on the lower terrace it’s great to go to the top to sunbath in the full sun. The kitchen has everything you need but to be honest we only spent two meals in the villa as we ate out in the village. There is a wide selection of books and dvds if you so wish and the layout inside is perfect for lounging around indoors. The aircon is in the bedroom and on hot nights adds a nice cool breeze to sleep in. All the windows have shutters which really help to block out the noise from outside not that there is a lot of noise but you do hear the dogs and cockrall but soon get used to that. The bathroom is a good size with bath and overhead shower toilet and bidet. We did meet the gardener a few times and he keeps the grounds immaculate and while he does not speak English he is very happy and will say hello and he’s mindful of your privacy needs. If staying for a while we would recommend a trip to Lidl which is approx two miles down the road towards nerja we walked there and got a taxi back for 7 euros after this we just topped up from the local shops in frigiliana. This villa has now become our favourite place to stay and we will be booking again very soon for next year, the calming feel to the place and the fact you feel isolated is perfect for us away from the busy lifestyle in the uk. Before we knew it two weeks had gone and we were returning home. Niall is very helpful and the communication before we went was 100% he really knows how to cater for his guests. In short an amazing villa, great location, great owners and fantastic privacy and the best place to de stress.

Heaven in your hand.
It is early morning and I step outside onto the warm terracotta terrazza. I am shirtless and barefoot, wearing only three quarter lenght cargo pants. In the near distance the sea twinkles. I pad down the curving steps past olive and fig trees to where the plum tree grows. The plums are fat and ripe and falling from the branches of their own accord. I collect a few and take them up to the little white house, all the while inhaling the heady perfume of jasmine blossoms arching over the trellises along the path This is simple living of the highest order. Our stay in La Cuadra was characterised by relaxed breakfasts of fruit and coffee on the terrazza, long, lazy afternoons sunning and reading by the plunge pool, or taking long, rambling walks across the Frigiliana valley floor, pointing out little houses we might one day buy, and completed with wistful evenings watching the sunset with a bottle of wine and listening to guitar music on our bluetooth speaker. This little house has it all, immaculately kept by the friendly young ladies we met on our arrival, it has all the equipment and kitchen facilities anyone could need for a restful and stress free break from the madness of modern living. Myself and my wife loved every moment of our stay and fully intend returning next year.

Fantastic!
The property was exactly as it looked in the pictures. Each room was a really good size, the kitchen was well equipped and I loved all of the lamps around the property. The views from the terrace are stunning - I couldn't stop taking pictures! I agree with other reviewers; there are a lot of steps and there is a cockerel that doesn't seem to know what time of day it is but it's all well worth it to stay in such a beautiful property. The hamlet of La Molineta is quite lovely and the La Molineta Bar is great for a coffee in the morning or beer in the evening - such a nice amenity to have on the doorstep. You can also walk to Frigiliana - again, it's hilly but worth it! Niall was really responsive when I had a few questions before I visited. Overall a great property and I'd highly recommend it!

The surrounding landscaping and charm of the cottage was great. Aircon and bed also great. Hosts were very efficient. Only downside was the sound of the road and neighbors barking dog. Fortunately at night with the aircon none of this interrupted sleep.

Beautiful home
Very well equipped villa set in beautiful gardens. Although it is above the main road to Frigiliana that adds to its charm and it is very private so nobody knows you’re there. The gardens are beautifully kept with views stretching to the coast and full of bird life. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here and feel so rested. We were sad to leave. There are a lot of steps up to this property as previously mentioned in other reviews but you do get used to them and the views are well worth it! Bring a small torch if staying here as it is useful if coming home after dark. Would definitely recommend La Cuadra as a wonderful haven for your holiday.

Cottage good base for exploring region
Quaint property but lacks maintenance - Tiles need cleaning on upper level, plunge pool cover needs cleaning. In picture of property it shows sunshade but on arrival there was not one, we had to request sunshade. Also the base was broken and we had to modify it to hold sunshade. Bottom of r/h wooden door draught excluder had fallen off and just put to one side. Outside metal door bolts had seized up and I used yr WD40 to release them. The bolts did not go down fully as holes were full of debris. Inside the cottage - smoke alarm in l/h corner above tv was broken with no battery in it. I found another smoke alarm on top of bookcase upside down which had just been left there so I fitted it in to the corner to replace broken one. Towel rail broke which was rotten so I repaired it. An unacceptable amount of mould in the bathroom, especially around the bath. Bar where curtain rail hung was rusty. But on the plus side the sheets and towels were replaced weekly. We did enjoy sitting in the garden but noise levels were high as you know due to traffic and dogs barking day and especially the night. Information should be provided regarding market at Fragiliana and bus timetables, walks into Nerja via the river bed. A book on the above and places of interest would have been helpful.

La Cuadra...the Hidden Gem
Great little cottage with fantastic facilities. We were met by Sam an English lady who now lives in Spain and she gave us plenty of useful information on much of what we needed like supermarkets, Restaurants, etc and a quick low down on the amenities. The pretty traditional Spanish interior with a very quaint bedroom and en suite and a very cosy livingroom/kitchen made us feel very welcoming. From you car there are a few steps up and through the well manicured gardens to contend with but once there it has a partial sea view and is totally enclosed from anyone. Plunge pool too! We cooked a few nights and also on the Bar-B-Q with a well stocked and equipped kitchen. Also lit the fire as the November nights can be chilly once the sun goes down. The Cottage is close to Frigiliana and Nerja, both in my opinion the prettiest Town/Village on the coast but there are plenty of villages to walk around along the coast and inland with a few fantastic beaches. Plenty of good eating places with a wide range of foods. We actually skied in the Sierra Nevada (about a 1.5 hr drive) and was about -4 degrees but drove down and arrived back at the Cottage to 20 degrees in the afternoon for a cold beer and sun bathe. Overall a fantastic place to stay and yes you will hear the odd dog bark in the night and cars on the road but hey your in Spain...absorb the atmosphere, food, culture, sights and the accommodation & enjoy! We will be back! Thanks to Niall the owner for the quick response and ease of booking and to Sam for her assistance when we arrived.
