Safe and Clean approved. Extremely clean, modern, bright and airy 3 bedroom villa set in the residential area of Santa Maria Maior, Old Town, Funchal. Within 5 minutes walking distance to shops and restaurants. Uninterrupted sea views visible from the large outdoor areas located on 2 levels - great for watching the Dolphins. Plenty of private space for relaxing on sun beds or dining al fresco whilst watching the cruise ships passing immediately in front of the property. Modern interior updated to provide large airy open plan areas and now the added comfort of air conditioning in all the bedrooms. Large open plan lounge with sea view leading to a brand new fully equipped kitchen and utility room. Appliances include bean to cup coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, microwave, fridge freezer and oven. The lounge is equipped with a LCD TV, cable channels and Wifi. The Villa consists of 3 spacious bedrooms all with king size beds and with full en-suites one of which is a wet room. Sun loungers, bathing towels and parasols are provided. Decoration is modern and comfortable with quality bedding, dressing gowns and towels all supplied. A little haven perfectly located with easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants. The property is accessed via a set of steps and therefore is not suitable for those requiring wheelchair access. The 3rd bedroom is located on the ground floor and accessible via a staircase located off the lounge. Bed linen and towels are changed weekly at no additional charge. There is the option of a single put up bed for use in either master bedroom or bedroom 3. We can also arrange taxi transfers from the airport with a reliable taxi driver (payable locally) and Mirela can book any sight seeing trips for you. Fully Licensed in Madeira License Number AL27048 with Safe & Clean accreditation. Hand gel, masks and disinfectant also provided. The house is priced based on 4 persons with an additional charge of £5 per night for extra guests to.

Gorgeous view and location
Karen’s place has everything you could want for a great holiday. View,location,well stocked home and parking(if you have a car). The place is incredibly well stocked and great walking distance into the city itself. It was so nice to sit on the deck in the evenings that we were home to watch the sky change with the setting sun

Unbelievable.
An amazing villa and there is nothing you could complain about. This villa has nothing missing and much more than you will ever need. A very precise folder gives you all instructions and useful contacts.The location is perfect, near to all facilities but away from the crowds and with outstanding views. Mírela was very welcoming and helpful when meeting and continued that way all through our stay, ensuring we needed nothing. Rafael was fantastic. Collected us from airport and very knowledgable. We booked him for a private tour of the island. A great investment, he could not be more helpful. We were going to hire a car but with Rafael and good buses, was not needed. We did not want to rave about villa because we do not want it booked when we want to come back, hopefully soon.

Beautiful property
Overlooking Funchal harbour, with a short walk from the heart of the city. A beautifully appointed, spacious property, with plenty of space for 6 adults. The only shortcoming was building works to properties on either side (which the owner could do nothing about), which were very intrusive with heavy drilling and loud music every day.

The location of the house is perfect. Within walking distance to cable cars, shops and the farmers market. The house is fantastic, with incredible ocean views to enjoy your meals or just sit with your morning coffee or a glass of wine. We locked ourselves out one day and the homeowner returned my email within 5 minutes. Mirela was there in 10 minutes. The house has everything you need to feel like home, and is incredibly clean. Our taxi driver, Rapheal, was so nice and friendly. We really enjoyed transport with him. We will definitely stay here again when we return. Thanks Karen, your place is definitely exceptional.

Perhaps one of the nicest experiences you could ask for – This place has everything. The location is just up the hill from Old Town with views of the ocean and harbor. Highly recommend you bring a good pair of binoculars to truly enjoy all the activities on the ocean from whale and dolphin watching to enjoying watching the ships and boats, open water kayakers, wind surfers, and paddleboarders. The two decks are fully furnished for enjoying a relaxed and beautiful time. The furnishings are comfortable and clean. The modern kitchen is stocked for a banquet – both in dishes and utensils as well as spices, coffee, etc. Karen and Mike have a true jewel in this home. Everything looked brand new and operated perfectly. Mirela, the housekeeper was simply incredible. She made the stay a wonderful experience with all her help and advice on things to do and the local activities. If you are looking for an extremely clean, comfortable place to spend all your vacation time, or a wonderful home base for exploring the beautiful city and all of Madeira you should stay here. Better than a 5-star hotel!!!

Excellent property. I could not believe the amount of ware glasses etc. It had absolutely everything. Mirela was so helpful. Great view from the property. We felt the pull up the hill but very soon found an alternate route. Would definitely recommend it to anybody who is thinking of going to Madeira. Weather was very warm when we were there so it was great to sit out in the shade.

Funchal, Madeira and this property are beautiful. You will want to return. The villa is located within 10-15 mins walk of the old town, via cobbled streets and quite a sharp walk back up the road. We found a wonderful range of cafes and restaurants and enjoyed every meal. Everything we needed was supplied, a great kitchen and good quality furnishings. The temperature was 30c+ during our stay in October and a floor or desk fan in the living room would’ve been lovely. All 3 bedrooms had air-con which was much appreciated. We made good use of the south facing veranda with its comfy chairs and sun-loungers. Watching the ocean going traffic, including the arrival of one of the world’s largest cruise ships and Navel vessels patrolling the area, was fun. Mirela the housekeeper was on hand to offer advice as required (taxis etc). Her kind help evicting a rogue lizard from the basement bedroom was appreciated - she even changed the bed linen (it has snuck in the bed!). The welcome pack contained excellent fresh bread which encouraged us to find the local bakery for more - asap! The little narrow street in front of the house can be (infrequently) noisy - from the delivery lads on their scooters or the early morning workers. Thank you to Karen and Mirela, for your thoughtfulness and considerations.

Absolutely fabulous!!
Everything about this rental is fantastic. It is in a great location, it's a really terrific house, very responsive, owner, and wonderful housekeeper who was really helpful. We were walking distance from everything. We rented a car and we could keep it in the garage. We used in the car for excursions. Two different hiking locations and sights around the island. We had so much fun! Best rental ever!

Amazing villa in spectacular old town Funchal
This is an amazing modern Villa with spectacular views and facilities. We were met by the housekeeper who was very helpful and welcoming, with lots of local knowledge. The villa is much more spacious than it looks on the listing and is immaculately clean and well stocked. The Coffee machine such a bonus and we also enjoyed a BBQ on the terrace one evening. The location was amazing and very close to waterfront and in the old town where the best cafes and restaurants are, but also a little set back from the business and noise so was nice and quiet. Parking was easy as we had hired a car and a perfect base for trips out of the city. The villa felt spacious and luxurious and sunsets on the terrace were spectacular.

Truly amazing!
This property was perfect in every way and had everything we/you could possibly need. We had a friendly welcome at the house when we arrived direct from the airport (host provided contact details of reliable driver who met us there), and there were thoughtful provisions supplied so we wouldn't go without when we got there. Our questions about the area were answered and there was a great deal of helpful information and advice available in a folder in the house. The spacious layout; closeness to the town centre; view across the Atlantic; cleanliness of the house, and range of quality equipment all deserve a special mention - and no, I haven't been paid to write this...it really is near perfect! There was plenty room for us all to relax on the patio, enjoy BBQs, eat round the table either inside or out, and relax in the comfortable lounge area. Karen and Michael obviously really care about their property and are such lovely hosts - we were delighted to have stayed there.

Amazing stay in Funchal!
The location of property was great, short walk to the lively streets of Old Town Funchal and the view from balconies was beautiful. This villa was so well equipped for cooking, beds were comfy and the villa had lots of space. Karen was always quick with response to questions, Mirela was attentive to our needs, making she we had all we needed and villa was very clean. Karen arranged transfer from airport to villa with Rafael and we couldn’t have been happier with his service. We were able to tour the island and get to hikes thanks to him. He was happy to share the passion he has for his island. Overall, this is the best vacation rental we have stayed at and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Funchal. The villa has everything you could possibly want including tea, coffee, laundry cleaners & softeners, dishwasher tablets and tissues. The list is endless. Beds and pillows were very comfortable and everything was spotless. Karen and Mirela were lovely and looked after us brilliantly & our taxi transfers with Rafael all went smoothly, despite having to change our plans a couple of times due to flight changes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the villa.

The best self-catering villa ever.! Beautifully furnished, comfortable beds, extremely well stocked kitchen in all respects. Extremely generous welcome pack. Terrace and balconies galore with amazing views to watch the cruise ships. Will be back! Housekeeper Mirela and taxi driver Rafael made our lives even easier. so sorry to leave. Fabulous house in a great location!!
What a super home, immaculately clean, incredibly well presented, with everything you could need and more. Mirela, who manages the house, is an absolute star and we wanted to take her home with us! One of the best homes we have rented through HomeAway, and there have been many. Two small niggles, just for information purposes: The DVD player does not work properly, the picture is squashed and you cannot hear it properly. In an age where DVD's are less popular, we can understand not replacing it, however might be better not to say there is one? We took some DVD's with us, but could not watch them! Maybe a larger, 'smart' TV is the way to go? It is not a quiet place to stay, the trade off for an incredibly convenient location. Two dogs next door bark incessantly, day and night, and the road out front is surprisingly busy. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful holiday home. Joss and Ian

I don't know what I can say that hasn't been said before. Truly excellent self-catering property for up to three couples. Every whim catered for. From umbrellas to walking sticks. Three very pleasant bedrooms, all en-suite. Three grown men can fit in the kitchen, and cook at the same time. Everything has been discerningly thought through. Plus excellent views, easy access to the more interesting parts of Funchal, and a wonderful person called Mirela who keeps the house to a very high standard and is on hand to help should you need it. Communication with the (English) owners was very efficient and personable. It all makes for a very memorable holiday indeed.

We loved our stay in this home. It is in a great location, overlooking the water, and within minutes walk of the funicular, great restaurants, and good shopping at the market and neighbouring grocery stores. The home is three-storey, with a comfortable living area on the middle floor, two bedrooms on the third floor and one on the first floor. It is modern, spotless, and exceptionally well-appointed. There is a large stone deck off the middle floor living area that overlooks the street and the water just beyond. It has lots of comfortable outdoor furniture. The master bedroom on the third floor is large with a full-length balcony looking over the main deck. The other third-floor bedroom is considerably smaller, but quieter, and there is a deck off it at the back with a clothesline. The ground-floor, or street-level bedroom is large as well, but can be a bit noisy quite early in the morning. Although the home is on a small street in the old part of town, it has a surprising amount of traffic at different times of the day. That being said, we got used to it and enjoyed watching the drivers try to get past each other on the narrow street. The beds are comfortable and the ensuite bathrooms are modern and spotless. Karen and Mike have thought of everything, and their housekeeper is lovely and right around the corner if you need anything. We were three retired couples who stayed at the home for two weeks. It worked very well for us, and we highly recommend it.

We had a brilliant time in this house. The house, views and amenities are absolutely superb. The owners (Karen and Mike) were always easy to reach and gave great recommendations of attractions and places to eat. The house is exceptionally well appointed and the location was absolutely ideal being a short stroll from the old town and some great eateries/bars. The cleaner and driver (arranged by the owners) were also extremely helpful and made sure we were well catered for. We are just sad we had to leave this beautiful home! Thanks for everything!

This is one of the best properties we have stayed in, it has everything you could possibly need, the garage is an added bonus. Location is great, there is a nice little restaurant about a 100 yards from the house convenient for breakfast and a short walk takes you into the old town. Will stay here again.

Ideally situated close to the old town, super views overlooking the sea, a kitchen better equipped than our own at home. There is plenty of room for 6 adults in ensuite bedrooms and spotlessly clean. Mirela who looks after the property couldn't have been more helpful and Rafael the taxi driver was great too!! Mike and Karen have the perfect holiday home.
