Worst stay I have ever had. The area is very unsafe, people on drugs and homeless yelling in the middle of the night in front of our window. The air conditioning was horrible it never cooled down. It was not clean, it felt really old even though they had updated some. The hotel allows smoking on the upper porch and they leave the doors open, so it smells like cigarettes. They don’t have hair dryers in the rooms. I called the front desk a ton of times no one ever answered.

Amazing!
This place is a real gem! We were booked to stay in the annex but on arrival I asked if we could stay in the main building and we were moved, no trouble. The young lady on the front desk was so kind and helpful. The 49ers bar was great and Leroy was a real character. The only down side is that the area outside is a little intimidating, constantly being stopped and asked for money or to buy jewellery etc. we only stayed one night and there’s no need to go out as the bar and restaurant are great. It’s a very cool place.

Old Hollywood flair with a Native touch
The El Rancho is an absolute gem! The room are well appointed with vintage look radios, old movie posters & cowboy memorabilia. All the plumbing has been redone, so no stink or rusty water. The main hall is gorgeous with it's massive fireplace & pictures of all the Hollywood greats that once graced the halls. The restaurant has good food & atmosphere. The real treasure is the old elevator, stained glass, wall painting & tapestries. This was our 2nd visit, but we're sure to be back!

The staff was friendly and helpful. I left my laptop in the restaurant and one of the staff turned it in to the front desk. I really appreciated their honesty! Even though the bathroom was small, it was newly done and clean. The room was nice and cool and quiet and the bed very comfortable. Good food in the restaurant as we arrived late and didn't want to drive elsewhere. I appreciated the security guard as the area around the hotel was inhabited by a few homeless people.

We love El Rancho and have stayed a couple times before. Great margaritas at the restaurant and an awesome gift shop. The hotel itself is historical and charming and such fun. We will be back!

The room was awesome with an old school Route 66 Vibe! It would've been nice if there was an ice machine close by. The people next door to us had opened the door twice that was located near the bathroom area. Very unpleasant & uncomfortable.
