TENNESSEE LEGENDS AND SETTLER LORE
What did people do before television? They
sat together and listened to stories. Learn
some fascinating facts about the Great Smoky
Mountains National Park, its human and natural
history, while listening to some wonderful
Cherokee and Settler legends and lore. We will
also talk about wild edible and medicinal plants
that the Cherokee and Settlers used and that are
still used today. You might even get to try some
tasty wild treats!
THE MOUNTAINS ARE CALLING
(2 ½ Hour driving tour and short, easy history walk)
Our trip begins in front the Westgate Wild Bear
Falls water park. Join your Naturalist guide from
A Walk in the Woods for a guided tour into the
Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Relax in
the comfort of our touring van as we experience
several beautiful photographic opportunities of
the sea of mountains, stop to see the Rockefeller
Memorial at Newfound Gap (the TN/NC border),
plus stories of the natural and human history of
the park. After photos of the sea of mountains,
we'll head back down the mountains and stretch
our legs on a short, easy history tour on a paved
trail. Learn how the settlers of the area farmed
these rugged mountains, find out what the
Cherokee used to cure headaches, soak your feet
in the clear mountain may even get to
taste a wild mountain treat. (This trail is wheelchair
and stroller friendly.) Maximum 10 people.
TAKING BETTER PHOTOS WORKSHOP
Come join us for a free workshop here at the
resort that will teach you to learn your camera and
settings. You can also learn about an awesome
mountain tour where you expand your workshop
lessons and get great photos. This class will be
located in the Owners Clubhouse.
