The space
This property is newly renovated specifically with our guests in mind. Each bedroom includes new mattresses, extra blankets and pillows for comfort. There is a large patio/deck out back - with a large propane grill for family feasts, and a brand new hot tub for you to unwind in.
The cottage also has a private dock for you to use, bring your boat or rent one in town!

Things to do:
Here is a site to show you all that our community has to offer https://www.lapoa.com/meetings-news-events/#events-meetings
Day Trips:
A little over an hour away from Traverse City, Mackinac Island and Petoskey. Coming in the fall? Don't miss out on the Tunnel of Trees less than an hour away.
Skiing:
We are 30 minutes from Boyne Mountain and 1 Hour from Boyne Highlands, Tree Tops is also right in town. Get your thrills going downhill on some of Michigans best hills and then come back to relax in the hot tub.
Golf:
With 17 golf courses, which include world-class resorts and championship golf designed by some of America’s top golf course designers, the Gaylord area is your dream golf destination.
Snowmobile:
Call it geographical luck or a blessing from the Snow Gods, but Gaylord, Michigan’s got dibs on the sweetest snowmobiling in the state. Our dead-center position in the tip of the mitt means the sky above blows in big – no, make that behemoth-blizzards of lake-effect snowfall all winter long, plus the city sits in the middle of a snowmobile network that runs more than 500 miles across eight counties. In other words, ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! You can ride right out your door from this cottage!
Elk Viewing:
The Pigeon River Country State Forest’s expansive 114,000 acres offers a unique wilderness experience that is just a short drive from downtown Gaylord. Home to one of the largest free-ranging elk herds east of the Mississippi, the Department of Natural Resources maintains this flourishing elk habitat through careful forest and wildlife management. You can view the elk year round but September through October are normally the best months.
Guest access
Front door has a keyless touchscreen lock. Code will be given before check-in.
While property and neighborhood are located on dirt roads, you should have no problem accessing the house. There is room to park 2 cars in front of the house and overflow parking at the neighborhood pool. Should we have a heavy snow, four-wheel drive or all wheel drive is highly recommended.
Other things to note
Cell Service/Wi-fi:
Cell service is poor in the neighborhood (T-Mobile/Sprint tend to work best) – this is a remote retreat so you can totally unplug if you want to, but wi-fi is available at the cottage and can support wifi calling/facetime! The pool and lake area also has free guest wifi.
Critters:
We are close to town and have all the modern amenities but are still in a very rural, heavily wooded area. Deer, Bear, Chipmunks, Mice, Spiders, Ants and Mosquitos are around in the neighborhood. Be aware that propping open doors can let unwanted critters in, especially in the fall and winter when they are looking for a warm place to stay.
Cameras:
There are two exterior security cameras on the property. One facing the back deck and one ring doorbell on the front door (this is in view of the hot tub) . These are for us to verify cleaners and maintenance have prepared the property for your stay! Covering the ring doorbell with a towel is permitted when using the Hot Tub.
Location:
We are about 15-20 minutes from the nearest grocery store, I always recommend stoping to stock up before you make your way to the cottage.
In winter months, four-wheel drive or all wheel drive is *strongly* recommended. We are not responsible for damage caused to vehicles by guests who arrive in non-4WD/AWD vehicles, nor provide refunds to any parties that cannot check in because they didn't bring a 4WD/AWD vehicle.
