Lovely property, with conditions.
We have been renting cottages for 12 years, so this is not our first rental.. Great cottage in a private setting with great swimming- shallow sandy-bottomed water for the youngsters, but deep off the dock. However: 1/ the yellow floatie thing on the beach and the blue-topped cabana in the background of the photo of the property don't exist. 2/ lower bunkbed is unusable due to lack of support for the mattress 3/ BBQ is past its prime: works, but on its way out. Lid falls off if you're not careful. 4/ coin laundry. $1 for 15 minutes use. 5/ Paddleboard has no rudder. But there were 2 kayaks. No lifejackets. Sauna in the cottage was nice after swimming on cooler days. Would we rent again? Probably, but hopefully some of our concerns could be addressed first.

Wonderful week on GoHome Lake for 3 Generations
The outside areas, sandy beach area and deck were a hit for everyone. The weather was perfect, the water was clean and the dock more than satisfied the sun worshippers. The 6 bdrms and 3 bathrooms came in very handy as well as the sitting/play area in the basement. The spiral staircase to the basement was fine. It was narrow but we all manoeuvred it with grace and were glad we didn’t have to only use the outside staircase. The sauna in the living room was a huge bonus too! You literally have to bring all linens and towels, even a bath mat. The mattresses weren’t great so if you have back trouble a pillow topper is a must.. The well water down the road is also a bonus a local told us we could not drink the tap water so bring some jugs.

Gorgeous property, rustic cottage, good value
The dock, beach and fire pit were beautiful. Nice relatively flat property from cottage to dock. Stairs inside quite treacherous- we opted to just use the outside stairs when going up and down. Not enough cutlery for number of people that can sleep there- suggest bringing your own extra. Small and old bbq, worked ok but small considering size of cottage. Beach are did not have the slide or the peddle boat as seen in pictures. There was a child’s kayak and an adult kayak. Also a stand up paddle board, but missing the Finn so not very useful. Conveniently located next to Marina, we rented a boat for a couple days and really enjoyed touring the lake. There’s a few great stops to dock and hop out and enjoy. Overall a great experience.

Go Home Lake next to the Marina
Initially the refrigerator was not active. Fortunately our sons were able to identify the problem which they solved with a trip into town to buy an extension cord. Otherwise hundreds of dollars of food would have wasted. I immediately notified the contact person Ana, who did not reply. Otherwise the house and contents were good. My reason for not returning would be, for the price we paid, we had to accept the constant noise of the busy boat traffic in front of the dock.

Fantastic cottage in quiet, beautiful location
Loved our stay here. Stayed 7 days with 7 people of 3 generations, plus one large dog. All of us had a ball. PROS: Clean Quiet 6 bedrooms Air conditioning worked really well Great dock and fire pit Great dock chairs Lots of toys available for my 6yo CONS Inside staircase is not big enough for adults, so adults can only go up or down by going outside Coin laundry seemed nickel-and-diming given the rental cost Neighbour barked at us about private property when kids went a few feet toward her side... In the water... Wonderful cottage week!

Not what we were expecting
Pictures are very old and things in the pictures were not there when we got there. The stairs are awful and we had 4/8 people fall on them. Dish washer and bbq were both broken, beds are very old and uncomfortable! We ended up leaving early and when we contracted them about our concerns we got no reply.

Great property for young kids. Sandy beach, clear calm lake with shallow area for swimming. Only negatives we already new about. 1. The circular staircase, not useable. We blocked off and used outdoor stairs. 2. The coin operated washer dryer, too small and barely work.

Beautiful Property
The property and lake were beautiful. The lot was private and large enough that there were many areas to sit and enjoy the view. The house was clean and had all amenities we needed as a group of 11. The windows do not open and the air conditioner was not working in one of the rooms which resulted in a room that was unbearable to sleep in. Our other issue was upon arrival the dishwasher did not work. The photos are outdated and there is no longer a gazebo on the property. Overall we enjoyed our stay

A great week
Overall the cottage was very good. A great location (2 hours from Toronto). The cottage was mostly clean (under the beds and couches could have been better), well looked after and the dock is awesome. The lake is beautiful with the water clean and refreshing. Everything and then some was included, even things like shampoo and a hair dryer, which we didn't expect. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet and comfortable stay. It was also reasonably accessible - most of the paths were paved with patio slabs, which made it easier for my walker-bound father to get around the grounds. It wasn't perfect though - some minor annoyances like: - range hood and plug to the right of stove not working, in spite of there being no tripped breaker that we could find. - a set of steak knives, a whisk and a nutcracker would be good additions to the already extensive set of kitchen utensils - pocket door of upstairs bathroom was a pain to open after being closed. - an umbrella for the upstairs deck patio set would have been good on the sunny days. - the outdoor furniture cushions could use a good cleaning, with bird droppings and mildew present. - we didn't find any dish cloths and dish towels. Good thing we brought some of our own - even though that wasn't on the list of things to bring. - a recommendation or chart of how many Loonies to use to complete a load of laundry, depending on the washing or drying cycle being used. - more toilet paper would have been good. We almost ran out, and we likely would have had we been a bigger group. This looks like a lot, but these were minor annoyances that really didn't take away from our overall experience there. We really enjoyed our week there and wouldn't hesitate to book it again in the future.

Very easy to find and a straight drive from Toronto.
Our stay was very pleasant. The area was quiet which made it relaxing. On a bad note, the outlet by the stove where the coffee maker, the toaster and the kettle were, was not working which made it inconvenient in the morning moving the appliances to the outlet next to the sink in order to use them. The bug zapper out in the deck, fell off on the floor almost hitting my granddaughter, it was hanging from a long nail but only the tip of that nail was in the wood wall, hanging very precariously. We would have liked to have a phone number to call the manager to let them know right away about those two incidents. The two chairs on the beach were old, they have holes in the mesh. Overall kids and adults had a great time.

Lovely Cottage for a Family
The cottage was as listed. It is very well stocked with pretty much everything you could need. You really only need your linens, clothes and food! There is a good coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, toaster, microwave, lots of baking sheets, pans, pizza pan, bowls of all sizes, cutting boards, plates, glasses, wine glasses, utensils, etc. There are lots of toys for children which my grandchildren loved. The sandy beach and gentle sloping entry to the lake were perfect for the kids. Very clean on arrival except for the dishes that the previous renter was supposed to wash! There is one tv on the upper level. Wifi is good but the download speed is very slow. Beautiful sunny dock, newer than in the old pictures. The washer and dryer work well. They are smaller loads than a normal washer and dryer but worked out fine. Machines take loonies only. The showers work well and have great water pressure. The dishwasher is great! You cannot open the windows (there are no cranks) and you are expected to use the air conditioning. I suspect this is for liability reasons as the windows are quite high off the ground. You wouldn't want a little one accidently falling out of one of those windows! The only major issue we had is the deathtrap spiral staircase! It is not safe at all for young children and is treacherous to go up and down even for adults. We ended up using the outside staircase only. The deerflies/horse flies were bad and regular insect repellant does not deter them!! There were a few items that need attention. The lid on the BBQ is not attached. The outdoor shower does not work. Overall, I would say the owner does a good job of maintaining this cottage.

Better than expected!
It worked perfectly for our families with littles. It surprised us how great it was! We couldn’t really use the television at all but it forced us outside more so we made do. The stairs between the 2 floors inside were insanely dangerous but we barricaded it off from the littles with chairs and only went up and down from outside.

Cottage with potential to be great if maintained by owner
The cottage has lots of potential to be a very desirable place to vacation. However, I would say this place needed a good deep clean and some TLC by the owner. Some basic attention like replacing or fixing broken items is highly needed. For example, including crank handles for windows so they can be operable (i.e. to sleep with a cool breeze at night), outlets don’t work in the upstairs bedroom (i.e. charging your electronics), freezer downstairs was not functioning and needed to be replaced, plexiglass on the gazebo was weathered and has holes, new couch is needed as the current one is unstable, BBQ lid did not have pins in it to enable it to stay open on its own - had to hold it open and not let go otherwise the lid would swing around and fall off which was very dangerous, stones on the path way were loose and coming off which was hazardous. Cleanliness and hygiene wasn’t very good. Coming from a family that has allergies, our allergies flared up. Our allergies were so bad that we ended up leaving a day early to go home and sleep in our own beds for some relief. There were clumps of dust under and around the beds, crumbs, wrappers and even mouse droppings in and around the couch and rooms. In one of the rooms, I found over 50+ mouse droppings. We knew there were mice issues when two mouse traps were set on the windowsill for use. One morning we found mouse droppings on the kitchen counter, so we set the traps and even caught a mouse while here. I will say the locations is lovely and it does have a TON of toys for young kids- this was so nice for our toddler and preschooler. The sand area and shallow area were great for the kids and the water was warm. The gardens are very overgrown and the grounds around the cottage are not maintained. There is also a very dangerous narrow & steep spiral staircase that’s not mentioned or shown in the listing. It’s dangerous for adults and a death trap for kids. There should be a gate put up on it for safely reason if this is a child friendly cottage. We did not use the narrow spiral staircase to go between the floors but rather used the exterior entrances. I’d also say for those wanting to stay here, know to bring your own toilet paper, paper towel, dish clothes and water jug (for drinkable water) on top of bringing your own sheets and towels. We were expecting the condition of the cottage to be in better state and cleanliness. Also, the photos are from 2013 and needs to be updated as it’s not the same.

No Surprises, Exactly as Stated in Posting
The property was accurately posted. There were no surprises. Very clean. Beautiful setting that was perfect for young children as well as adults. We would definitely rent there again. Our only suggestion would be to add a small freezer to the venue as one regular top freezer in the main refrigerator is not really sufficient when the cottage sleeps 14 people. It makes meals difficult.

With some TLC this would be an amazing rental
The ground and location are beautiful and perfect if you have younger children as the water entrance is sandy and shallow. The cottage itself is mostly as advertised, however some basic maintenance and cleaning would make this a 5 star review.. it’s nice but not $5000 nice. For the $ you get the location with great beach, dock, & fire pit. You get a large a/c space with lots of beds with a great roku tv. Here’s what you need to know: (1) more queens than advertised so bring larger fitted sheets; (2) Broken paddles, dock ladder, bbq, interior doors etc.. it’s clearly not being cared for between renters.. thankfully we had tools and are handy so we fixed the broken main floor bathroom door and dock ladder.. the bbq was a bummer as we purchased propane but ultimately had to cook steaks in the oven; (3) laundry is coin based requiring loonies and unfortunately the loads we ran turned our clothes orange.. machine seems to run on hot water no matter what setting is selected and they need to treat their hot water tank to remove rust/iron; (4) cottage was not cleaned before our arrival, dirty dishes in dishwasher, dirty floors and surfaces, rotting food left in cabinets attracting ants; (5) we arrived during rain and main floor master window had a significant leak, we had to use our towels to clean the water; (6) no catamaran or similar.. it comes with one paddle board and one kayak with a broken paddle. We definitely left this property in better working order than when we arrived and it’s a real shame that so much time went into cleaning instead of enjoying our vacation.

Fantastic property!
The location of this cottage and the outside amenities were amazing. Multiple spaces around the property to relax and unwind or gather together. Beach and dock were great and the water has a nice sandy entry. Firepit was great too! BBQ only has one tank, two would be ideal so you don't run out in the middle of cooking dinner. The inside of the cottage is good, just a few small things that need to be fixed or altered. Upstairs bathroom door is a pocket door and kept getting stuck so multiple rescues were required. The amount of bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect for the four family groups we had. We never were able to get the satellite tv working but the internet works and they had a smart tv with netflix for those rainy days. The downstairs fridge took a while to get cold and the freezer in it did not work so it leaked quite a bit - this was hard when we were a group of 14 who brought up most of the food we would need for the week. We brought all of our own linens, blankets, towels and pillows - recommend bringing extra towels as the laundry is coin operated in an effort to conserve water/energy. All in all it was a great spot and one that we would return to.

Great location kid friendly cottage
Is a great place for families with small kids. The waterfront is awesome with sand galore and lots of toys for the little ones This is probably the best you can get for a family gathering with children under five The lake is very clean and it’s proximity to Toronto makes it a short and easy drive . It would be nice to have potable water ( we had to bring our own) and having to pay for laundry seems petty when you pay a lot to rent . All in all a very good vacation would stay there again

Place is nice.. the only thing is some beds are not comfortable so sleep on. Some chairs in kitchen area are wobbley (prone to accident). The door in the washroom upstair is so hard close when you need to close it. And the internet is down most of the time. Over all it's a good place to stay for a small family reunion

Not a good review.....
I’m sad to say I was disappointed with the cottage. The property was lovely and the beach and all the toys was great for the little one. We very much enjoyed the dock as well. Some of the problems I would like to mention. We could not use the bedroom with the bunks because of the water leak from the shower upstairs. We made very sure the curtain was inside the tub and still had a lot of leakage..A lot of the plates, bowls and cups had chips and I thought the cutlery even for a cottage was very poor. Otherwise the kitchen was well stocked. With that being said many of the pots and pans were put away very dirty. When we went to use the coffee pot in the cupboard there was stagnant water and mould in the carafe. My niece cleaned and sterilized it. Then when she opened the top to put in the filter it still had coffee and mould. I told her to leave it and put away.. it was really disgusting.....We put all the comforters and pillows aside because they are in poor condition. We did bring all our own bedding but it would of been nice to have an extra blanket on some of the chilly nights. For the amount I paid for the cottage and I had many tell me I overpaid especially in September I was really not happy to find a coin operated washer and dryer. I thought that was really in poor taste... Broken handle on the sliding door and furniture that wasn’t very nice, stains etc...I would have a very hard telling anyone to go to that cottage. For the amount of money I spent I have a hard time giving the place a good review. I do hope I get my deposit back sooner then later..............
