Bird of paradise, purple papaya

"Bird of Paradise Beachfront Cottages" are "a new way to vacation", bringing all the amenities of home to your own private beachfront oasis. Enjoy sleeping on a king size bed and lifting your head up to see pristine ocean staring back at you. Save and cook your own meals in our fully stocked kitchen including electric range, numerous utensils, and cookware. You can even choose where to bath, either inside or alfresco in the ocean side shower. Cool off and Take a dip in the custom made infinity edge pool over looking the beach. If you've had to much sun and the air conditioning is more your speed feel free to lounge on the couch and watch some TV on our flat screen. Staying at Purple Papaya means you enjoy panoramic views of the turquoise blue Atlantic Ocean and tinted pink sand beach by day and outrageous sunsets and star gazing by night.

**Keep in mind that our neighbors Tippy's close for a period of time in September and October. Please call them for details. Tippy's is also next door to our Purple Papaya cottage, therefore you may hear some island vibes and tunes while outside, (this is of course out of our control).**

**Please also keep in mind that Eleuthera is a secluded island, therefore at times the island may shut off the water, as well as internet or electricity. Water pressure can be low as well, but this is all due to being on a secluded island, so please be patient with us. Any of this issues will not result in the guest getting compensated since this is out of our control**

Heaven on earth!
Purple Papaya is ideal for anyone looking for a place for true rest and relaxation. Great host and the location can’t be beat. It sits on a the most gorgeous beach, easy drive to Governors Harbor, and adjacent to Tippy’s restaurant. The house is as advertised: clean, neat, and modern – with a priceless view. I highly recommend the house and host!

The property was exactly as described and extremely comfortable. My wife and I stayed for 8 nights and had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We explored the entire island, but the beach and snorkeling right off of the property were some of the best that we found. We would love to stay here again someday!!

This property is awesome! My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights and it was exactly what we needed. The pictures do not do it justice! We hardly even left the house because we had everything we needed and the best beach right outside our doors! We did go to Tippy's for lunch every day...The food was great and the service was excellent . The house was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Any questions we had, were answered right away and the check in process was great. Tarictia was amazing and did everything to make our stay as care free as possible. I can't say enough good things about her or our stay here! We highly recommend this place and are already planning our next trip back . Thanks for sharing this wonderful property with us! The Ultimate R&R Vacation!
What an amazing getaway! There are not enough words to describe the tranquility and peace this vacation brought to me and my husband. We barely left the house because it had everything we needed. The infinity pool was incredible and as we looked over the edge the ocean was just a few feet away. We walked the beach everyday and many times we were the only people on the beach. I know it sounds crazy but it is true, I can count on one hand how many people we saw the whole week. When we did leave the cottage, it was to eat out. Here are our recommendations... Da Perk - Marina makes the best french toast in the world! 1648 - Ask for Kelly, she is super sweet and attentive. Also, the beet salad is amazing!!! La Bougainvillea - Ask for Cristano, he was awesome and the food is incredible! Frigate's - they have the best cheeseburger and the view is beautiful. I am actually planning two trips back in 2023! A big thank you to Alissa and Carol for your gracious hospitality. Another big thank you to Tarictia and Neddy, we appreciate you both looking out for our every need. Outstanding rental property. We travelled all over the island to find great snorkeling but some of the best was right off of our back deck (right behind Tippy's). Great sunsets and sunrises every day from the poolside. Prior to the trip, the owners were great about answering all of our questions as it was our first time in Eleuthera. We can't wait to get back to the Purple Papaya (or the larger house next door if we bring some friends.We would highly recommend this property!

Adventure and relaxation
Went to Eleuthera with my wife for our 21st Anniversary. Great communication with the property from the very beginning. We rented a car from Tarictia and that is definitely the way to go. She was waiting at the airport for us when we landed. It’s about an hour drive to the residence from the N. Eleuthera airport. Tarictia will tell you all about the island on the way there. It’s hard to believe but the accommodation was actually more magnificent than the pictures. We soon realized that this is one of those places that the camera can’t actually capture the beauty of what it’s looking at. Just an FYI that the pool is not heated. Not a big deal, but would be nice for sure in the winter months. Property was clean and well kept. Only thing the kitchen was lacking was an oven. Which we didn’t need as we only used it for breakfast and lunch. We ate at restaurants for dinner, which I recommend. 1648 was our favorite, followed by Tippy’s and Buccaneer club. All of them are good but expensive. The only thing I could possibly say was that at one point the water pressure didn’t work and therefore the toilet wouldn’t flush. I told Tarictia and it was fixed quickly while we were out to dinner. It never happened again. We are already planning our next stay here. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy the beautiful beaches and people of the Bahamas.

The property is exactly as described and pictured. The location is about as good as it can be - you’re directly on one of the best beaches on the island. Definitely get an SUV from Tericita - extremely helpful and rates are good. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful Beach and Great Pool
Really enjoyed our stay at the house - we rented a car and thought we were going to explore a bunch of the island and other beaches, but we ended up spending most of our time lounging in the pool between snorkeling sessions in the water right in front of the house. We definitely didn't find a better beach/reef. Food on the island is expensive, and Tippy's might be the most overpriced. So we were definitely glad to have a kitchen to at least cook breakfast and make a couple lunches.

We can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was at the Purple Papaya! This house is ON THE BEACH. It could not possibly be any closer. Every morning and night we could sit in bed and just watch the ocean. Heaven. House was spotless. Right next to the best bar/restaurant on the island - Tippy’s. We ate there every day. Loved it. If we would have had more people I would have wanted an oven and washer/dryer but it was just the two of us so perfect for a 5 day getaway. The property manager, Tarictia, was amazing! Picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. She owns SUV by the sea and we rented a vehicle from her during our stay. Loved her, loved the house, highly highly recommend. Thank you Bird of Paradise! We will definitely be back!:)

Simply relaxing!!!!
This cottage is really lovely. Stylish and clean! The little plunge pool is super sweet and nice to soak with a cocktail in hand;-) We had an exceptional time enjoying ourselves. It’s nice to have Tippy’s right next door for good food, drinks and occasionally live music. You can walk for miles on this amazing beach in both directions and not see anyone. Beautiful sunrise! The bed is SUPER comfortable. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower was not the greatest!! Hopefully, they will fix that. All in all, amazing! Would definitely return!!

If you enjoy privacy and having your own slice of heaven this is the PREFECT place! It’s well kept, clean, and comfortable. Owner was helpful and easy to deal with. There are beach chairs, towels and snorkel equipment which made things super easy. We grabbed some groceries in town and spent the next six days reading and relaxing. Truly a perfect vacation. Above and Beyond All Hopes and Expectations
From the breathtaking eastern views from the pool to the ocean, to the attention to detail in the villa, one of the most relaxing enjoyable getaways we have ever taken. Trying to figure out how soon we can get back. OK, for all you folks that want the details: From the end of the back sliding doors to the ocean is about 50 ft. We have never seen, nor stayed in any place this close to the water. All the amenities provided are pretty much brand new. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud with total back support. We made dinner in a couple of nights and found all the utensils and cookware needed. Did not need the A/C at all, just kept one of the ceiling fans running and one of the sliding doors partially open. Large walk-in shower with plenty of hot water and very good liquid shower products provided. Nice linens and towels. Read complaints about noise and proximity to Tippy's next door but a total non issue!! The villa is totally shielded from Tippy's by tall vegetation so privacy is not an issue. As far as human noise, the ocean waves and breezes are louder. The white sand beach extends easily over 2 miles in each direction and easy to walk. There is seaweed present mainly at the high tide line. The water is crystal clear and the waves are amazing to watch as they break over the reefs. As far as swimming, bottom is rocky with sand in some areas. It was very windy (10-15+ E, SE winds) during much of our stay with rough seas, so we enjoyed the beach time vs swimming and snorkeling. As far as beach traffic...there is none. You will see a person here and there walking the beach but that's about it...at one point we looked north and south on the beach (about 4 miles total) and counted 6 people, by far the most crowded we saw the beach. Most of the time there was no one in sight! However, no place is perfect There are flies...not biting flies, just nuisance flies... present everywhere on the island. We were told they were worse in the summer. As far as mosquitoes after dark, not bad, you will need bug stuff. We brought our own, but it is also provided. Internet and cable provided, it was like we never left the USA. However, it will go out on occasion when you least expect it, not much the owner can do...it is an island in the ocean after all...but be prepared...it will come back on. If you can, bring some of your favorite food items...the selection on the island is limited and expensive! Well that's about it. Dan & Ann
