Magical!
A singularly lovely Irish stay in one of the most beautiful spots in one of the most naturally beautiful places in Europe with all the comforts of home! It was a joy to return in the evenings to chat with the gracious and knowledgeable host and enjoy quiet, magical moments watching the shifting colors of the Blackstairs at sunset whilst listening to the birdsong on the stone patio of the well-kitted former barn.

Great unique and cozy place to stay!
We enjoyed Victor's stone cottage. It was a unique and cozy place to stay and we liked having the large, private patio area for evening drinks. Victor's homemade scones, local jam, and honey were a delicious perk, and his brother Frank was very welcoming during our check-in. The location was near enough to Kilkenny and Waterford to visit for the day, and the town of Graiguenamanagh had an excellent grocery store (Doran's SuperValu). While the kitchen supplies could be upgraded (newer and more pots and pans, a few more glasses, plates, and silverware), we were still able to make meals in the kitchen and did not lack for basic comforts. If you have small children, beware that the plank stairs are steep and there is only a handrail on one side. Both bedrooms are upstairs on either side of the stairs. All in all, would recommend this place!

History, Pubs, Forest walk.... exactly what we wanted
The stone walls made it feel like we had stepped back in time. The pubs in town had an assortment of friendly people. We talked with one couple for over an hour. The river, pubs, and restaurants are all within a 5 minute drive. Victor was very helpful and friendly. This area is gorgeous.

Great start to a honeymoon
We came in and met Frank, Victor's brother, who gave us a quick walk through. He was very lovely. Victor had made us some bread and jam and procured us honey from his beehives. It was all delicious and paired well with the tea he had on hand for guests. The shower was welcome after over 20 hours of travel and the bed even more welcome (My husband has horrible insomnia and actually slept without medication for the first time in years). The next morning as we left to explore the town near by we met Victor. Just as lovely as his brother. In the afternoon my husband and I took a hike on a path on the land. Victor's dog, blue, escorted us down to a magical waterfall. We also got to see a cabin that Victor was building. An amazing start to an amazing honeymoon. We want to come back already! Thank you Victor, for an amazing start!

This is a lovely rustic home. It was comfortable and cozy. The host was very kind and added several special touches to our stay (e.g., locally sourced honey)! We had a great time at this home and in the nearby town. The fairy trail was fun and would be great for young children that want to explore.

The accommodations were just as advertised. It’s a great place to get away from the rat race! Victor is amazing, helped us out in more ways than just giving us lodging, a great host to work with. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get away from the big cities and slow down a little bit.

Fantastic country hideaway
We cannot thank Viktor enough for our wonderful holiday. We stayed over the Halloween weekend to escape from the madness of Dublin and it’s bonfires and fireworks and we were not disappointed. We had a wonderful few days, totally relaxed and with nature. The converted Barn is warm and cosy and a perfect escape from city life. Graignamanagh is a lovely village with plenty to do and lots of local Irish pubs to frequent! I would recommend a stay here at whatever time of year - we will definitely be back.

An amazing place!
If you want to experience the country in Ireland than this is your place. It was quiet and cozy. Frank, Victor’s brother, was there to greet us with homemade jam, butter, and honey. Victor was sure to greet us the next day and made it a point to make sure we had homemade soda bread. If you’re looking for the true “Irish welcome” look no further. The small cottage was warm, clean, and comfortable. We can’t wait to return.

Irish hospitality and warm accommodation in Co. Kilkenny
Graiguenamanagh - hard to spell, tricky to say, but a delightful and surprisingly beautiful town in County Kilkenny. We drove in to the property and were greeted by pastoral scenes from the 1800s, and the genial and wry host, Victor, who is a truly kind and knowledgeable gentleman happy to help his guests feel right at home in the 200 year old stone converted barn which was to house us for the next 4 days. We were taken aback by the charm of the dwelling and its many unique features, melding rustic Irish stone, stout wooden beams, and a modern conveniences like wifi, electric shower with instant hot water, and useful kitchen for our self-catering holiday. Victor's property at Ballyogan is incredible and he shared many interesting tales of the area and the work he has done on the land for the last 30 years. One could easily spend several days just exploring the land with its native woodland, several pastures, ancient stone fences and even the hidden waterfalls. But, it's also central to the Ancient Southeast of Ireland and close to Kilkenny and several small towns of interest. We hope that the winds of fate will bring us back to Ballyogan one day and can't recommend it highly enough for those that are interested in a relaxing stay in the real heart of Ireland.
