Villa Alcantara is a superb retreat: exquisitely peaceful surroundings, fully air-conditioned and at only 10 to 15 minutes drive from Taormina and the renowned beaches of Giardini Naxos.

Perched on the side of a mountain, the villa offers a wide view on the luxuriant landscape. A modern arch design set on the edge of the 50 square meters terrace will help you frame a mental postcard of the surroundings that will be difficult to forget!

You access the bright living area from the terrace. Thanks to the wide sliding doors, the gorgeous spectacle of the nature around you will accompany your every daily gesture, while relaxing on the sofa or having breakfast on the dining table. The well-equipped kitchen and a satellite TV with a DVD player will make you feel right at home. On this floor there is also a practical toilet.

The sleeping area, with three double bedrooms, is on the floor below and it is connected internally by a marble stairway and externally by a second stairway leading directly to the pool. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi. The other two bedrooms, (one of which also features a bunk bed), have access to a beautiful 'hammamā€™ style bathroom with natural light coming through the remarkable skylights. Finally, there is a laundry room and a handy outdoor shower, ideal in the summer returning from the beach.

SURROUNDING

The Alcantara Valley is one of the lushest valleys of Sicily thanks to the presence of the Alcantara River that supplies irrigation water to the many citrus orchards cultivated in the area all year round. Even during the hot and dry Sicilian summers, the Alcatara Rivers remains ice cold, providing to all its visitors with fresh relaxing moments. You can simply wet your feet and peacefully lying down on its beaches and on its rocks, or doing fun activities such us tubing excursions or exploring the river with its lava-stone walls and waterfalls by hiking or by riding a horse.

The Alcantara Valley is a truly strategic base from where to explore the Eastern side of Sicily. The charming town of Taormina, its vibrant coast and coast villages (30km of beaches from Fondachello to Santā€™Alessio Siculo), Mt Etna and its authentic villages are all very close by.

Panoramic villa with mountain views
Ideallic house with breathtaking views. House is very well equipped and comfy. Far lovlier than the pictures can give credit. Great access to the Alcantara Gorge and a lovely restaurant close by. Giuseppe, the key holder, was very helpful and passionate about the local area. Road leading to the property is a little hairy but to be expected given the remote location. It is essential to have a car staying here as amenities are a drive away. Bit longer than 10 minutes to get to Taormina. Showers were a bit temperamental but again, this is to be expected in Sicily, especially for a property in the mountains. Giuseppe was always on hand and available to support. A wonderful stay and we would highly recommend it.

Loved it! Giuseppe - the villa caretaker - was lovely, helpful and informative. The villa is exactly like the pictures - modern, great equipment and a fantastic pool and outdoor space with great views. The bedrooms - particularly the master - are spacious and cool (because theyā€™re downstairs). The beaches, Taormina, The Gole Alcantara are all within a 20 minute drive, but there are so many places to visit and things to do - Etna is a must!

Property was good. Owners were great and responsive. View from villa is lovely. Locally there is just the nearby resturant that is very nice but we thought menu limited and also pricey. Most days we went into Tao which is fabulous. You just need to accept the 30 min drive each way.

Stayed with our two adult sons and Nephew. Great base for touring .house is really special unbelievable views, wonderful to wake up to each day. Great sunsets from the deck. The nearby restaurant paradise does a wonderful job and itā€™s just a short walk down the hill. You really feel like you were in the country in a secluded space but you can easily be by the seashore for shopping and lunch. We would love to try the house in season. House manager was very attentive dishwasher broke and was replaced within a day on Easter weekend. We cooked Easter dinner at home and were able to enjoy some family time.

Villa Alcantara
As expected. Modern contemporary villa in a superb setting. Peaceful and quiet with stunning views. The nearby Paradise Restaurant was excellent but the only one within possible walking distance ( hence the 4 star location rating) The access road is a sleep dirt track and a 4x4 is recommended but not essential. The property manager, Giuseppe, was unfortunately ill during our stay but as we had no questions nor issues we had no need to contact him (hence the 1 star rating) The villa was equipped with everything one could want and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. A great base from which to explore this area of North East Sicily.

Very pleasant stay
This is a lovely peaceful modern villa with spectacular views. It suited our needs very well but the number of steps and drops would make it unsafe for young children. The track approaching the villa was very rough, steep and overgrown (we trimmed back some of the thorny bushes). Overall a very pleasant stay.

Fantastic villa!
We had such a great holiday - I can't recommend it highly enough! The villa itself is just amazing. The architecture is stunning - a really unique place that offered peace and quiet along with great facilities and a perfect location. Situated a 5 minute drive from the main road up a dirt track (a vehicle with high clearance is recommended) it is isolated but with easy access to gaggi with several bars, cafes and shops and its just a 40 minute drive to beautiful Taormina. Giuseppe was a great host and I can thoroughly recommend spending the day with him visiting etna (he was very knowledgeable and took us on a great hike) and then wine tasting - well worth the money and a superb day. There is a restaurant at the bottom of the dirt track called paradise which is worth a visit and I can also recommend the pizza making class in Taormina. Thos property would be ideal for 2 or 3 couples or 2 families who want to be close to plenty of activities but have a tranquil place to themselves. We loved it!

Good stay but a few improvements required
There are pluses and minuses with our stay: Pluses: We would recommend it if guests don't mind driving as it's 20 mins from Taormina and 10 mins from the nearest shop in the local village. We loved Michael Cafe (excellent granite & snacks and the local supermarket - Maxisconti). The distances to other attractions are considerable as Sicily is deceptively large. The hillside location is very tranquil and the air conditioning and pool were very good. Minuses: We strongly recommend that the owners refurbish the villa with better furniture, bedding(very uncomfortable) and towels (thin and worn) which were substandard as was the cleaning. The IKEA furniture has simply worn out. Also the track leading to the villa requires a small four wheel drive (we had a low car despite ordering a four wheel drive and constantly scraped the bottom of our car on it) or concrete and/or gravel laid. Guiseppe, however, was an excellent host - friendly, attentive and very helpful.

Amazing views
We had a fantastic stay here and the views were just amazing. The inside could do with a little spruce up, but the outside definitely made up for it. Giuseppe was extremely helpful and friendly throughout. His tour up Mount Etna was also amazing. We had a great stay here! Would recommend a car if staying here as it is a drive to the nearest shops and the villa is located up quite a steep hill.

A very comfortable,well equipped house.Lovely views from the terrace and nice pool to relax around,listening to the owls in the evening. 10 minutes from the highway so easy to drive to the sights. Paradise restaurant is a 10 minute walk,great local Sicilian food and wine, 5 people,1 + 1/2 carafā€™s of wine,coke,5 main meals,4 desserts 135 euros, Great value and great food. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Villa Alcantara and recommend it.

The villa is beautiful with stunning views of the mountains.
Villa suitable for groups of adults- lovely kitchen & living room. Spacious bedrooms - beautifully furnished throughout - swimming pool is amazing! Unfortunately we had a few difficulties- the WIFI did not work & we were faced with large additional costs from mobile phone providers when we got home. Our teenage children found the lack of internet access most frustrating. I booked the villa because the description said there was internet access & satellite television. There were no satellite channels other than news in English. As I said, villa is perfect for groups of adults -but for our teenagers access to the internet is crucial. The many stairs throughout the villa would not suit anyone with mobility issues - the space/stairs within the pool is dangerous for children. The 'road' to the villa is not really a road - more of a track- a little scary to negotiate. We made the best of it. Giuseppe was very helpful.

Nicely situated in the Alcantara Valley about 10-15 minutes from the coast. It's up a narrow 500m dirt road which might be useful to know when deciding what type of car to hire but it does means that it's quiet, peaceful and private. The closest restaurant is the Ristorante Paradise which is at the start of the track and so very close by. The food is great but the quantities are huge and defeated us so make sure you have a good appetite before you go. The villa was larger than we expected and very well equipped. Plenty of crockery, cups, and glasses and a dishwasher to take the chore out of cleaning up. The villa was very clean and well looked after. Emails from the owner were friendly and helpful and the keyholder, Giueseppe, was very helpful in recommending places to go and things to do when we arrived.

Excellent location, beautiful villa, perfect for a relaxing holiday
The villa was first class in every respect and the photos on the web don't do justice to the sheer size of the property. Booking procedure was fast and efficient, we got all the info we needed. Guiseppe (who manages the villa in Sicily) was always on hand to help and was quick to respond. He also gave us a brilliant day exploring Etna at a pace to suit us and significantly less money than the local tours. The villa is well equipped, the pool and terrace area stunning and the rooms all large and very comfortable. The walk in shower in the master bedroom was huge! There are shops within easy driving distance, we tended to use Ard Discount (near the autostrada) or Conad (just before Francavilla), both about 10 mins away. Ard was better for meat and wine, Conad for everything else. The Paradise restaurant is a short walk and well worth a visit. we ended up eating there 4 times and never had anything other than a fantastic meal, even on the Sunday night when the restaurant was full. TripAdvisor reviews were way off the mark compared to our experience. Try the Sicilian starter, the pork shank and stuffed chicken. Prices are very reasonable (ā‚¬6 for a litre of very pleasant red wine). Our bill each time was about ā‚¬100 for 3 adults (3 courses, wine, espresso). Staff were always friendly. The villa is situated in a very quiet location but with easy access to the autostrada for venturing further afield. Taormina is a must, a beautiful town with lots of restaurants and shops. The only thing I can think that could be improved would be to gather more details on the surrounding area and to provide a guestbook/instructions. This allows new guests to learn about the property and surrounding area easily from the experiences of previous guests and ensures all details (gas refill, rubbish bins, shops, air con instructions, etc) are available rather than Guiseppe having to remember them. That said, he was very thorough and the odd item we didn't know about he answered quickly. A great place to holiday, we thoroughly recommend it.

We enjoyed very muck the stay at this villa. There were plenty of space for 7 persons, and all the rooms very delicate. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the out door-area and the pool was very nice. We were taken very well cared of by Guiseppe - and he gave us a guides tour to Etna - which we enjoyed very much. We would love to come back to Sicily and this lovely house.

Jederzeit wieder Die Bilder vom Online Inserat sind wohl mehr als zehn Jahre alt (siehe Baumwachstum) und sollten aktualisiert werden. Eine Renovierung ist an manchen Stellen angebracht. Bei dem Preis sollte alles Top sein. Die Auffahrt / Zufahrt zum Haus ist die ersten Male eine Herausforderung fĆ¼r Fahrer und Auto (5 er Touring mit Schaltgetriebe). GelƤnder sind zu niedrig oder nicht vorhanden so dass die Anlage fĆ¼r Kinder die die Gefahr nicht einschƤtzen kƶnnen nicht geeignet ist. Der Ausblick ist toll, besonders wenn der Etna aktiv ist. Von der Terrasse sieht man den BƤcker der echt leckeres Brot anbietet. In der KĆ¼che fehlt lediglich ein Toaster eine komplette Kaffeemaschine FĆ¼r die ā€žSommermonateā€œ ist der nicht beheizte Pool eine willkommene AbkĆ¼hlung. Wir hatten dort eine sehr tolle Zeit und haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.
