Loft on Lincoln Hancock #303

Built in 1910, this historic building is formally known as the EL Wright School and was recently converted to residential living in March of 2019. This beautiful piece of history features a spacious open-concept layout, high ceilings, hardwood floors, and modern finishes. Because we wanted to create a stay that is both relaxing and as care free as possible, we added all the amenities of home to help you feel comfortable and at ease. - WIFI/Cable - Keurig coffee pot with supplied coffee/tea - Dish cloths with supplied dish detergent - Washer/Dryer with supplied detergent - Shampoo/Conditioner/Body Wash - Bath/Hand Towels, Washcloths Featuring the cities most convenient location, you will have easy access to nearby trails, outdoor activities, local shops, restaurants/bars, and the Portage Canal. There is a grocery store within walking distance for much added convenience. Michigan Tech/Finlandia University are both an easy five minute commute. Please note that this is a second floor apartment. Stairs are necessary to access the unit. If you need assistance with this, please let us know. We are available 24/7 via phone, text, AirBnB, or email if you should need anything before, during, or after your stay. Self check-in and check-out make it easy and convenient for you to come and go on your schedule. Access to the apartment is provided via a keyless entry code. Great place to unwind after 5 days camping through the Western UP! The apartment is 100% as advertised and is clean, comfortable and quiet! Great location at the top of the US 41 hill at the gateway to Copper Country.

Great character, great location
The old school house has great character. Everything was good and we enjoyed our stay. As it is getting used, there are a few things that could use a little TLC (1 living room chair has a broken back and the couch had an arm broken in, a few spots the wallpaper seams are starting to lift). Bathroom is well stocked, but could use more hand towels. Kitchen is stocked adequately (including microwave popcorn 😁). It is clean. Has a dishwasher, washer and dryer. Beds are comfortable (firm). This was our 2nd stay. Enjoyed it. Recommend it.

Clean, quiet, perfect
We traveled to Houghton/Hancock for my son to participate in the Leading Scholar competition at Michigan Tech. This VRBO was in the perfect location. It was very clean and quiet. Beds were very comfortable, it has a nice welcoming feel to it and I felt at home from the minute we walked in the door. Shower had fantastic water pressure and snacks and coffee were a welcome surprise. Next time I'm up there, I will definitely stay there again.

Family Wedding
My sister, daughter, and I drove from Virginia to attend a family wedding. The Loft on Lincoln gave us the space to relax, we each had our own room, and we were in a prime location to all of the events. We would stay here again!

Great option for MTU parents
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Our girls could escape their normal housing and come stay with us. This meant more family time and memories made ( a LOT of laughs and were had over the supplied puzzle!) We could have homemade breakfasts together which we all had been missing. The only issue was I truly wish we would have found this option sooner for our trips to the Houghton/Hancock area.

The EL Wright School apartment was one of the more unique and pleasant places I’ve stayed in the Copper Country. The location is convenient to MTU as well as the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Beautiful, spacious property in a fine location
The property is everything you see in the photo. The listing really prepared us for our stay. It was clean and bright and a super cool historical building that had gotten a modern makeover. The view was beautiful. The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry were fully stocked with anything you would need. The ability to walk a short way up the hill to the Bread Loafer Bakery (a treat you do not want to miss) was fantastic. We really appreciated that they kept as much of the historical details as possible. The one historical detail we could have done without was the seriously squeaky family room floors. We treated that floor like lava, it was so loud! Additionally there were two plumbing issues that I am sure will easily be addressed soon.
