The property is well maintained but aged. Perfect location. Choose the room upstairs if you can as you can hear every footsteps and bathroom activities upstairs if you got live downstairs.

Very pleased with Hanmer Springs and this lovely old hotel. Ground floor room with a patio. Room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Bathroom was tight and with the toilet a tight space behind the door … probably impossible a fit for obese people. A very nice pool and walks around the grounds. We ate in and were very pleased with the range of wines and beers. In particular we were very impressed with our meals of Lamb shank & Belly pork. The continental breakfast was fine and plentiful and certainly a good start to the day. Hanmer Springs Hotel is central to a spectacular resort and we were glad we booked it

Large rooms which were well set out and the hotel was centrally situated. Only minor issue we had was the parking was a long way from the garden apartment.

Fantastic location in the middle of everything. The property surrounds are lovely. Like an old estate property. I arrived on a motorbike in the rain and the staff were so accommodating, letting me park it round the back undercover. Really nice staff. Rooms were great and had loads of space in the garden suite. Restaurant was friendly and personable considering the few staff there were dealing with a big crowd.

We stayed here for one night. The garden studio we had was quite dated and def needs updating. However it was clean and tidy. The have a big pool which was heated but was a little cold to swim when we were there. This area also needs a bit of updating. The gardens were lovely and immaculate. We did eat there for dinner and breakfast. My son ate free for dinner if we got a main so didnt work out too bad. The dinner was really nice and yummy. Great location as by the shops and I think would be a couple of mins walk tot the hot pools. Not sure I would stay again due to it costing quite a bit for the room being dated.

A few things. Whoever is employed to look after the grounds needs a raise Whoever looks after inside needs to have quality assurance inspect regularly The halls smell like kids camp, needs dusting and vacuuming. Issue being, the vacuuming would keep guests unhappy due to the paper thin walls. The “continental” breakfast consists of two different cereals, some pastries and toast. Terrible terrible terrible. I have always have hot options such as bacon, eggs, hash browns, sausages. There is no way this breakfast should ever cost a guest any additional money. Lastly, I grabbed a cup for my coffee, its was chipped around the rim. I grabbed another cup and filled it with coffee only to find a crack through the lower part of one side and the coffee was dripping from it. Yes I had read the reviews before booking. Yes it was worse. No I will not be going there again.

Very disappointed

It’s quite an expensive place. Was closed for a while but then got a new owner. But inside it looks like nothing has changed for 20 years or more. No Aircondition and on my arrival day the room was stinking hot. Christmas morning and the staff did not even wish us Merry Christmas. Breakfast was the same as the day after. All cheap/ from frozen produce And staff had limited English and some just rude

Beautiful area but the family room was NOT a family room king size bed and fold out couch with minimal space for a family. Would definitely stay again as just a couple or when kids are older to have 2 rooms but not one family in one room and we only had us plus our 4 year old definitely wasn't idea for 3 so 4 would be a stretch

Nice old hotel

Lovely old hotel. When we arrived the front of the building had scaffolding all over. When we got to our room it was at the front and you could not access the outside area. My husband ask to change room and they gave us a garden apartment.

Loved this historic hotel. The photographs throughout the hotel and beautiful grounds showed the history wonderfully. The staff was very welcoming and pleasant. We found the beds to be incredibly comfortable. Only two small suggestions. The complementary breakfast was nice, but there wasn’t much to it. Some eggs and a breakfast meat addition would be nice. If you wanted to promote it as complimentary and not loose money, maybe up the hotel nightly price by $10 - $20. Last suggestion, we had room 231, which was a lovely room but it overlooked the outer staircase which had a bright outdoor light and clear view of the staircase. If the window was open and curtain closed partially it did nothing to block either due to the direction that it opened, right to left. If it had been built to open left to right, light and privacy problem would have been solved.
