Aurora View
Great spot for viewing the aurora borealis!! First night there we had a clear evening and were blessed by the lights for nearly an hour. Because of the location and open area around the house we had great 360 degree views! The house immediately felt like home upon our arrival. Only complaint is the showers are a tad small.

Cabin near North Pole
We stayed with friends for two nights, hoping to see the Aurora Borealis. On the second day, the sky cleared and we had a beautiful display that night. The cabin is very clean and had a well stocked kitchen, including coffee a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates. Check in was easy, and the dark sky made it a once in a lifetime event.

This cabin is a great place to stay. Hosts were great, welcoming and accommodating. Plenty of outdoor space for fun, a trail to walk, magnificent sunsets. The walk to the lake after dinner was a treat.

What an amazing place!
Mamie’s Hideaway was everything we were looking for - a cabin secluded enough that we felt like we were the only people in the world while being close enough to a few local spots that we could grab something to eat or supplies. The cabin itself is wonderful - Mark and Elena have thought of everything and with a few groceries we were able to just relax for a few days. It is stocked with all the cooking essentials from pots and pans to herbs, spices and sauces which made cooking so easy as we didn’t have to bring absolutely everything and the grill out the back was such a lovely addition! As a tip, buy your groceries before you come down from Fairbanks for more variety but we also found the Salcha store (about a ten minute drive from the cabin) had anything extra we needed and very reasonably priced. The Salchaket Roadhouse (sign posted as the post office) is only two minutes down the road and is a cute family run restaurant - we can thoroughly recommend the pizza! We were there to relax and continue our never ending search for the northern lights. The front of the cabin faces directly north so there is no need to leave the warmth to watch the aurora dance its way across the sky from either the comfy lounge area or from the master bedroom. The verandah out the front was also fantastic if you felt like rugging up and taking in the experience from outside. The board games and basket of cozy blankets were such a lovely extra touch😊 So much more to say but no space! 10 out of 10!

Fantastic Vocation
It was our first time we traveled to Alaska and I would like to thank Mark and Elena for making it special by hosting us at Mamie’s Hideaway. The cabin and the hosts met all our expectations. The cabin was very clean, well organized, and had everything we needed. It was a great place. I am glad we made the right choice.

Home away from home
The house was very warm and cozy and fit our party of 4 perfectly. The home was very clean and well maintained. It is well equipped and has everything you need for your stay. It is situated in a beautiful area and a good jump off point for Dalton drive, Chena Hot Springs, North Pole, the lakes and more. It's situated away from city light pollution and we were able to get great pictures of aurora and the milkyway. Mark and Elana were amazing host. They were very knowledgeable, friendly, and great with communication. We will definitely be back.

Great property and even better host
The cabin was everything we expected based on descriptions and review with one caveat, words can’t describe what you see in person. First let me say we accomplished everything someone from Florida might want to accomplish in only 5 days. We had a very cool fall with changing of the leaves, we had clear nights so we were able to see the northern lights from our front porch, my wife was invited to forage by the owners wife and picked a decent amount of cranberries and on our checkout day we were able to experience an October snowfall. The northern lights was a personal life bucket list item for me. The nearby lakes and rivers were awesome and provided great drone footage. The last part to review was second only to the northern lights for me. The owners were the best I’ve dealt with compared to the many rentals I’ve done. Mark checked in the day before we left for our trip and provided check in information. The day we drove up to Fairbanks from Anchorage he checked in again and asked what our arrival time might be so he could turn on the exterior lights if the arrival was after dark. When we arrived we had the typical new arrival questions as we settled in. The answers for most of these questions were in the welcome notebook Mark had already provided. Instead of instructing me to the notebook Mark answered every question that popped up without hesitation. The hospitality Mark and Elena showed us was top notch.

Great quintessential, Alaska cabin with modern update!
We, 4 adults over 50, were very excited to end our Alaska experience in Fairbanks. We wanted to stay out of the city and stay at a more country cabin type place. Mamies definitely fit the bill. It would also be a comfortable place for a longer stays. It is quite a ways out of the city of Fairbanks if it's your intention to go there a lot (40 minutes). However, we enjoyed finding the trails by the lake, and some nearby walks. We loved the big open driveway and firepit, which provided nice views of the night sky. We were fortunate enough to meet one of the owners on a walk, and she was very nice and helpful! This place also served as a great compromise for those of us who wanted the outdoor camp feel but also pleased those who like the cozy and decorated cabin with all conveniences. We didn't have a chance to watch TV much, but did catch a movie one night and appreciated having movies provided as well! we didn't do a lot of cooking except for breakfast, but there is everything you would need to prepare meals! Thanks for providing a lovely place!

Cozy northern lights get away
We all loved staying in a place where we had our own rooms. Our kids were able to play in the snow and build a snowman without having to go anywhere. My favorite part of staying here is that we were far enough away from the city that we could see the stars and the northern lights really well from the comfort of our cabin or step outside for awhile and then run back inside to get warm. It was also awesome that we were able to do laundry and cook while we were there. It saved us money and enabled us to pack less. The host was great with communication and also recommended a bunch of things we could do in the surrounding areas since we are from Florida. We will definitely stay here again should we decide to come up to Fairbanks again! The only improvement I would hope for is that the master bedroom doors could close all the way and be able to be locked to keep the kids from walking in at an in opportune moments. Thank you to the hosts for helping our family create amazing memories!!! We appreciate you both!
