Great get away for two!
The house is on a beautiful pond (which is more like a lake) with beautiful sunsets and atmosphere (especially the loons!). It is actually quite convenient to grocery stores and other businesses. We enjoyed the grill, canoe and firepit. The bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is roomy with great water pressure and hot water. Great spaces to hang out inside and outside. Considering going again next summer.

We love the cabin on Bear Pond! We’ve stayed there a few times now and plan to go back again this summer. It’s perfect for us. It’s calm and relaxing, right on the water with such great lake access and beach area. We’ve stayed at quite a few places in Maine on lakes, but this is our favorite.

Beware…
No heat source, no drinkable water, cracked toilet, dangerous access to the water, poorly stocked kitchen, no place unpack clothes, no tv service, could not access the dock. The cottage needs lots of work be rentable. We left two days early.

Not rustic - broken
The beach and lake were beautiful. The cabin was a mess. Many things broken, lots of dry rot around sliding glass door, holes in towels, etc. The list goes on. I would not have continued to stay here if it wasn't for the lake where I spent most of my time when I was there.

Beautiful Spot
My family stayed here over labor day weekend. Very cute cabin with all the amenities of being at home. This was perfect as minimal packing is great with a 2 year old 10 year old. The kids loved the little beach and the views from the cabin were amazing. We enjoyed our stay and will likely go back again.

Nice Lake and Beach Cottage Needs Work
The beach is very nice and there are a lot of toys for the kids to play with. The lake is really beautiful. The cottage is not in great condition. The old, stained carpets are unsightly and there were many cobwebs and insects in the corners where the ceiling meets the wall. The house has lots of potential but definitely needs work. It does have a good air conditioner.

The sheer experience of being on a quiet, private beach with gorgeous views and use of the paddleboat, campfire and quaint cottage was amazing. The personal touches of family photos and recipes makes you feel cozy and at home. The owner, Bonnie is a very sweet lady who checked on us day 2 by phone just to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, making us feel even more like family. <3 Highly recommend this property!

Excellent location AND water access!
We had a great time at Bear Pond! It’s a great, private location and the sandy beach and shallow water was perfect for our young kids (4 and 1.5). This is your typical, rustic Maine camp and we arrived with realistic expectations and were not at all disappointed. It has everything you need for a relaxing, comfortable stay and we loved being able to use the grill and picnic table for dinner AND fire pit for toasting marshmallows. The lack of Wi-Fi and cable/streaming was refreshing and we were still able to get decent cell service. Bonnie and Ron were very welcoming and generous!

Perfect water front camp!! Heaven!
Fantastic little camp on Bear Pond! It has everything I could ever ask for! Running water, microwave, full sized kitchen with full sized fridge and freezer! We lived the king sized bed so much we are buying the same set up when we get home!!! The place comes with a paddle boat and plenty of outdoor chairs, even a fire pit and a charcoal grill!! Air conditioning in the bedroom was amazing!! The water was beautiful and zero mosquitoes!! Tons of dragon flies, a few loons, a blue heron, some fish and an owl! Plus you can take the paddle boat out to the floating dock and hop on it and relax!! We had lunch out there! There's a clothes line to hang wet clothes on! The camp is fully loaded with cups, paper products, silverware, plates, towels, bedding, a coffee maker and stove/oven. Bonnie is amazing and I had no issues keeping in contact with her!! We will be going back!! Hopefully sooner than later!!!

Amazing
My husband and I stayed for 5 days, and I wish now I would of added more days. It was great slept late every morning, the beach was great I was out in the sun every day, felt so at peace there, can not wait to go back next year and will be adding more day, the only sounds we heard was the waves the boats and the birds, the best sound we heard were little kids jumping laughing and playing in the water. So if you are looking for a place to go relax this is.

We loved our stay! Great beach area! The water is so clean and clear and it is a very gradual slope out to deeper water. There is a dock and a raft you can swim out to and sunbathe on. They have two plastic Adirondack chairs we liked to sit in with our feet in the water and they also have a zero gravity chair you can lounge in to tan. There is an inflatable kayak and a paddle boat available. They had a charcoal grill and they provided charcoal and lighter fluid. Plenty of grill utensils and pots pans etc for cooking indoors on the stove as well. I enjoyed sitting in the recliner drinking my morning coffee looking through the glass slider door out over the pond. The king sized bed is VERY comfy. If it wasnt so beautiful outside I could’ve stayed in that bed all morning. Hosts Bonnie and her son Ron were so kind and helpful and very responsive to any questions we had. We’re already planning our next trip back!

Great place to get off the grid!
I had an excellent stay for what I was looking for. My stay. was about just having a place to stay and do a little fishing. I didn't care about TV or internet service. I stayed in early May so even though I didn't go swimming the lake is just out the back door and there is a sandy beach. The road in is a little rough with only room for one vehicle but that was not an issue since I drive a truck. I would definitely stay there again.

Cozy cottage for realistic people
This cottage was perfect for me & my husband. We only left once for more drinks. Beautiful location hosts were so wonderful & awesome communication. Bed was so comfortable I actually slept better than I do at home. We would definitely book this cottage again! I say realistic people as this is a cottage in the since that it has the essentials but it's made for you to be outside for the majority of your time. If you want to sit around a TV or be on your phones pick another place. I feel that some of these negative reviews were left by people who were not there to enjoy the nature around them. This cottage is filled with love & beautiful family memories you can see in all the photos. I loved it & so did my husband ❤️

Feeling calm and relaxed!
Ron was so nice and helpful. We arrived to a light on inside and the heaters on for us. Very peaceful there. We had a fire in the fire pit over looking the beautiful view. Bed was comfortable and our two friends that joined us said the pull out couch was good. We played cards at the table and cooked a lot of food in the kitchen. After we checked out I texted Ron telling him that we were leaving and he called and left us a friendly message in return. We would love to rent this cottage again, especially in the warmer months to enjoy the private beach and swimming as the water there was clean and clear.

Disappointed
We understood that this was a small place knowing that we'd be in/out with friends nearby, but it does not fit five. Four adults with luggage was too many for this small house. Two with luggage would work best. The king-sized bed was comfortable for my eighty year old in-laws. Most furniture needed to be moved out of the living room for the pull-out couch which needed vacuuming.(we slept on an air mattress we brought instead). The fold-up bed was ok. All the windows/sliding doors need cleaning and curtains for privacy and darkening for sleeping-in. There were no screens. The sliding door has moisture between the double panes which was disappointing as that's the only view of the lake. A wonderful lake! The paddle boat was fine. There were a few holes in the walls covered with tape. The fire alarm was disconnected on the top of the frig and the one on the wall wasn't live. We were told the dock would be replaced next year and the t.v. in the living room was broken. We couldn't find a remote for the t.v. in the bedroom. The kitchen was functional but no room for groceries and needs enough kitchen chairs for five. While having a great time with our friends, we are disappointed we spent the money for the condition of the place. Much work needs to be done before it is rented again.
