Our much-loved cottage will make a relaxing break as part of our Nature Retreat. It's surrounded by woods, gardens & an ancient orchard, 1 mile down a farm lane for the ultimate seclusion & star-studded nights. We're dog-friendly, so having a dog or three is welcome with over 120 acres of farm to explore, including a Labyrinth & stone circle. The cottage has traditional comforts, including a large granite fireplace. A great base for adventures!
Once in the rose arched front door, you'll find an open living room/dining room, featuring a solid dining table handmade from reclaimed wood and a magnificent granite fireplace taking centre stage. In this living area, there's also a TV with Netflix so you have the option to enjoy a cosy evening in watching films after a day of exploring. The newly fitted kitchen incorporates an original Raburn, that provides background warmth in the chillier months. Upstairs there are high, open-beamed ceilings and low cottage windows looking out to the surrounding greenery. In the first bedroom is a king-size bed, and the second bedroom is dominated by the heart of the house, a spectacular granite chimney stack. In this spacious area is a small double and a single bed. The light and airy bathroom includes a bath/shower.
This idyllic spot is perfect for those who like adventure but also seek relaxation. The only sounds you're likely to hear are birds, (including from our resident peacock depending on the season), and fairly often wild Canada geese flying overhead, as well as, distant moos from our three rescue Dexter cows (usually when it's their tea time!). Itās a wonderful spot for adventuring, with over 120 acres of farmland, including a pond and a lake to explore with plenty of wildlife to enjoy. This is a lovely place to spend some quality time together; stargazing, blackberry picking and pine cone collecting!
Nearby Porthleven is ideal for days at the beach and eating out, as well as beautiful beaches like Praa Sands, Gunwalloe and Gwithian. Overall this is a great base for visiting other areas like the Lizard Peninsula, Helston, Hayle, Penzance, Falmouth and the Far West.
Things to note:
We're lucky enough to be in a peaceful and secluded location so the lane access to the property is one āCornishā mile long leading into the heart of the valley. It's important to bear in mind that it is bumpy as itās a farm lane so youāll need to take it slow. It's also good to consider that this can add additional time to your journeys; though it can be less, we say to allow for 10 minutes to slowly amble your way down. Please see the last few pictures of what to expect.
It's also important to be aware of the pond at the bottom of the garden, and the nearby lake if you have children or pets. There is also no phone signal in the cottage, but it can be caught in the fields or up the lane (or you can use this as a way to take a break from the outside world.)
We have two dogs, red Labrador, Porsche and Spanish rescue, Billie. They like to have the occasional woof but theyāre very friendly, love cuddles and like to make doggy friends!
