Hollering Pines Retreat-Great for Military, Fugitive Beach, in Mark Twain Forest

Hollering Pines Retreat-

Nestled along the Mark Twain National Forest just 20 mins outside of Rolla Mo

Property sits on 10 acres with fencing surrounding the property.

Farm house sleeps 6-8 guests

Tree Lodge Sleeps 2 guests with stunning views into the national forest

Within 25 mins of- Wineries,Caves, Hiking, Fishing in two of Missouri's top trout streams (Lil Piney & Mill Creek), pond access on the property, Mark Twain National Forest, Floating on the Big Piney River, & Perrys Pool Hall.

Guests are open to use the main house, camp in the field, and the Tree Lodge. Please keep in mind this property is in the Country- surrounded by 200k+ acres of national forest. You might come across animals- big and small, snakes, bugs etc... (our neighbors have goats that sometime venture onto the property)

All 10 acres are fenced in (besides the open gate entrances in the drive way). The pond is located in the center of the property. Feel free to fish!

THINK OF THIS LIKE GLAMPING- But we also have hot water,showers/bath, multiple bathrooms, AC,heat, fans, Wifi(starlink), Full kitchen, washer and dryer, and mini fridge, microwave in tree lodge. Most/all the amenities of home.

We have the buildings regularly sprayed, and always cleaned. Even with that sometimes during certain seasons of the year we get lady bugs or ants that try to get into the houses. (Please do not leave any food out, it will attract bugs, Please leave food in the Fridges or keep it sealed)

IF you come across any bugs we are not refunding you. We have recently had guests that have made this request due to seeing a small amount of bugs during their stay. Thank you and we hope you enjoy your stay!

My opinion
The place was comfortable and relatively clean. The area is quiet but we apparently came at hay balling time which caused a lot of in and out on the property. Not really a problem but we didn’t know what was going on for a while. The “treehouse” was perfect for our young adults. There was a bit of confusion on the listing. It said two bathrooms. It didn’t say that it was one in the house and a bathhouse out by the treehouse. All I’m saying is that it was misleading a bit. We'd come back when back in the area.

Not a place to stay with your family
The good: - The beds were very comfortable & supportive for a bad back. - The house was spacious - The area was beautiful - Check in was easy, the owner was responsive & driving directions were clear. - Good Wi-fi. Smart TV let us log into streaming services. - Plenty of dish soap, paper towels, shampoo, etc. lots of random things you might forget to pack. - The treehouse room was cute & cozy. - The pond is full of frogs. The bad: - The oven was plugged into an outlet connected to a switch that also controlled the kitchen light. If you turn the light off, you turn the power to the oven off. It’s a gas range so this also turned off the pilot light. - Ants all over the counter - Strong smell of mildew - Unlocked cabinet with hunting & fishing supplies (ammunition, knives, miscellaneous) in the room with the bunkbeds. - Dirty pots and pans in cupboard - Dirty dish towels left in kitchen.

It was great wish there was a bathroom closer to the treehouse couldn't use it because there were wasps in it but was a great property!

Remote get away
This was a nice get away for our family. 30 min from fugitive beach. Plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 babies and we didn't use the bunk beds so more could have stayed. Be sure to get your supplies before you come because there is no where close. The stop n go has drinks but the resources are scarce. This was a quiet county location.
