Want to go back!!!!

Posted 2 Jun. 2015 on Expedia
Pros: the decor and interior design, the facilites inside the room were great
Cons: TV didnt work well but i had no intention of letting my husband or the kids to use it, so it was not a big deal to us.
Location: Blue Mosque, SultanAhmet Mosque, Ayasofia, Gulhane park, Topkapi Palace
Stayed for 6 nights, in the duplex room which has two floors with 2 children. Spacious, clean and great decor. facilities were great they even had a washing machine in the room and plenty of kitchen facilites so you could actually prepare a meal there if you wanted to. not that we used either as there is far too much to do, see and eat in Istanbul. Its in walking to the museums / mosques and sights in SultanAhmet. The only thing that could be an issue about staying here is if you had someone with molbility issues as its half way up a hill with steps which was fine with us but i can imagine this could be an issue for some visitors.

Definitely worth going back to it

Posted 14 Jan. 2015 on Hotels
I loved my stay in Ascot House. My reason for choosing the place was that its location was not very touristy even if it was only half a mile away from the Blue Mosque. It was a working class neighbor of shoe makers. I wanted to see how a turkish neighborhood looked and that's what I got. Everyday I had breakfast with Turkish coffee at a neighborhood borek (pie) shop, which charged three times less than the cafés around Blue Mosque.

Highly unsuitable position for families

Posted 20 Aug. 2014 on Hotels
This hotel is not suitable for families with kids as the street is very steep and there is no access for the cars due steps on the street. In addition, the neighbourhood is very filthy as there is too much trash on the street. This hotel is located in residential area and poor people stay outside there doorstep late night though there was no issue of security.

Fabulous Apartment in a rundown residential area

Posted 14 Jul. 2014 on Expedia
Pros: Excellent value for money
Cons: Cooking facilities were a bit basic, however we did not use them with so many different restaurants nearby.
Location: Everything in the "old" city was within walking distance. Little Aya Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, Basilica Cistern
Hotel was very consistent to description of it on internet. Rooms were clean with enough room (just) for 2 Adults & 2 teen children. Location was great, 5 minutes to Grand Bazaar & Tram line. 10 minutes to many & different eating establishments. Local residents extremely friendly even though they did not have much English language.

A homey place for family

Posted 5 Jan. 2014 on Hotels
We really like our place as it is big and ample of space for family of 5 to stay there. At first we were skeptical as we climbed up the steps on the street going to the hotel but after that reaching the hotel and familiarize ourselves with the surrounding it is actually a very good place to stay if you are looking for quietness and big space for rooms around Sultanahmed area. The housekeeper (Ms Gul) was really nice and helpful and tried her best to communicate with us in English. She lives just next door (5 meter away) and always stands by (literally 24 hours) to look after us.

Very pleasant stay in Istanbul.

Posted 7 Sep. 2013 on Hotels
We have spent an unforgettable time in Istanbul in Early September 2013. Ascot house hosted us in a very friendly way. Its actually an apartment hotel, renovated in a very classic way. Rooms are very clean and the interiors are absolutely up to date. Thanks to miss GUL, who is very kind and very cooperative we had a pleasant stay in Ascot house. She does not speak English but it was easy to communicate with her.She is the one taking care of the house, and is actually doing it absolutely fine. Before our stay in Ascot house we spent a single night in a 5 star hotel, but bravely could state it was not as clean as Ascot house. She is also very cooperative and trustful. By the way hotel is located in an area not very close to Sultan Ahmet area,,, its a bit difficult in approach , even by taxi. Area is full of small restaurants and shops hosting daily life, which is also interesting to see along with the touristic regions. I would definitely spend my next vacation in Ascot house. Again would like to say many thanks to miss GUL for her kindness.
