The land of “Pura Vida”. Our experienced staff can insure your dream vacation through fitness, yoga, meditation to surfing,fishing, golfing or tours. This paradise surrounded by the breathtaking views here in Playa Hermosa, Jaco, Costa Rica.

We have a office on property and a few staff ready to help with tours, reservations, maintenance, laundry service and more.

Emerging yourself in our peaceful community will allow you to bring home the energy that will transform you and your life. We are located on the beach in front of one of Costa Rica's best surfing waves. We have over 50 species of birds and lush landscapes. Just across the street from the rain forest perfect for jungle hikes.

Hermosa Beach House was built in 2007 as a surf hotel and we have converted it into a house/retreat center. The Hermosa Beach House has 3 floors. The 1st floor is pool level and has 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, gameroom, bar, catering kitchen, laundry room, grill area, and outside dinning area by the pool. The 2nd floor has 4 bigger bedrooms with 4 bathrooms. The 3rd floor is a condo 3 bedroom, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, livingroom.

We have 12 private rooms with each having it's own bathroom. The Hermosa Beach House is great for family reunions or bachelor parties. Private chef are available upon request. Here in Playa Hermosa there are 2 small supermarkets and 10 restaurants in walking distance.

There are massages on the beach or a sunset horse tour. Our huge pool sets on the beach perfect for sunset cocktails. There is concierge services and cleaning services available 9am-3pm everyday. We are located 4 miles from Jaco where you can find restaurants, shopping and fun night life. We are located 1 hour and 30 minutes from the SJO Airport in San Jose.

Family reunion
We had a group of 20 people staying at Hermosa Beach House. Julie and her staff were absolutely amazing…helping us with five separate transports to and from the airport along with making some amazingly delicious meals. Each staff member was accommodating and gracious. Her son Jason helped organize numerous tours and activities, and for a group of our size…trying to get everyone to figure out a plan was no easy task. Each activity arranged was special and memorable. The entire stay was a dream. The proximity to the ocean trumps all else. While it is not a swimming beach, watching the waves and surfers made up for that. The pool was kept pristinely clean everyday. The outdoor seating was perfect for 20 and very desirable to hang around. It was a trip none of us will forget. Thank you to Julie, Jason, Juan, Kyler, Willie, Wilbur and everyone else who made us all feel safe, welcome and special!

Hermosa Beach Paradise
Hermosa Beach House is truly paradise. The house, pool and beach were even more stunning in person. We had a group of 26, ages 6-75 and this property was perfect. We had access to the kitchen to cook some dinners and were able to hire chefs as well. The location is great, right by markets and tasty restaurants, easily walkable. The true magic of this property however, is the resort team. Julie, Wilber, Juan, Gaby, Dixon and the others, are who made this perfect vacation so special. From setting up transportation and meals (we had one dinner and all the breakfasts cooked), booking excursions, and the meaningful conversations. They genuinely wanted us to have the best time. We left feeling like we have friends in Hermosa Beach, and we can’t wait to go back.

Oceanfront resort style VRBO - Pura Vida living!
The Hermosa Beach House was the perfect place for our family to celebrate our mom’s birthday. From the moment that we booked with Julie, we felt like we were in good hands, and boy did that end up being an understatement! She was always available to answer our questions, arrange activities for us from yoga, massages, horseback, riding on the beach, a monkey tour, the day at Manuel, Antonio National Park, a hike, a special birthday dinner, fire show, and incredible homemade fresh meals enjoyed outdoors, looking at the ocean. This is a wonderful destination for a large group who wants a clean spacious house with lots of outdoor living with spectacular scenery and amazing sunsets. If you are looking to experience a laid back, casual, local surf town and get a more authentic experience then you would get at a resort, then is the place to go. We will definitely be back!

COULD BE GREAT… BUT JUST OK
This is a beautiful location, right on the beach with massive potential. However, at the price of 14K for a week, it is hard to overlook the many deficiencies. This is one of those places where the longer you stay the less you like it, and that mostly comes down to level of service, and a lack of reinvestment in the property. We loved the huge pool and spent most of our time there. We didn’t love how difficult it was to get the staff to clean our rooms or freshen our towels, the overpriced personal chef recommended by Julie, or the random friends of Julie’s wandering through the property to use the outdoor shower or do yoga on the lawn (with our children and valuables lying about). Most of the interior is showing it’s age and somewhat shabby. Peeling paint, mold on the ceilings, toilets that wouldn’t flush, showers that wouldn’t turn on consistently, a broken oven, and a poorly stocked upstairs kitchen were just a few things we noticed. Overall, the experience was just OK and wasn’t worth the price when compared to alternatives. We enjoyed our time but won’t be back.

50th Birthday Celebration Trip
I booked this property to celebrate my 50th birthday with friends & family and we were not disappointed! The property is about 2hrs away from SJO Airport so prepare for the journey but it’s all worth it! The sunset alone is worth the drive! The property is nestled right on the black sand beach just outside of Jaco. The staff and owner are extremely helpful with all your needs; from decorating for your theme parties to washing your clothes after the ATV ride! Julie was so helpful setting up transportation for us no matter what we wanted or where we went. The only drawback was all the rooms aren’t technically under one roof. All except the top floor for have external doors to enter from the outside. Each room as at least 2 beds and most have fridges and microwaves. Each room has its own bathroom which was great! The top floor is a separate 3bdrm apt with living room, kitchen and dining area. No biggie for us. We can’t wait to go back! Thank you Julie for helping make my 50th birthday the best one yet!

AMAZING!!!
Our group just stayed 9 nights at the Hermosa Beach House. Julie was beyond helpful dealing with everyone’s questions and helping us book our excursions/transportation/chef. The house crew were so nice and go above and beyond. The grounds were always well maintained. We saw a turtle laying eggs the first night and a hatchling the last night. Magical stay
We were so grateful to stay at Hermosa Beach House. The property is truly picturesque. Our family of 20 (ages 3-75) spent most of the time at the common area around the pool. Pool has a large shallow area for little ones, plenty of space for big kids and adults. Picnic tables and kitchen by pool make it easy to prepare and serve meals to a large crowd and enjoy the view. We used a chef several times and we’re very pleased with the meals. The hotel staff was so kind and kept the place spotless. Special thanks to Hayley for all her help fielding questions and securing transportation and excursions. Several delicious restaurants within walking distance. Beach area has amazing sand and surf but not safe for littles due to rip tide and caliber of waves. Overall lovely stay. We plan on returning again soon!

40th Birthday in Jaco
Words can not describe the care and thoughtfulness we received from Julie and her staff! This was the trip of a lifetime for most of our guests! From the very beginning of booking Julie was very present and attentive to us and was constantly checking in to see if we had any questions or special requests. Not only was she a wealth of information but her staff was completely on the same page. Shout out to Haley and Ivan for dealing with our groups craziness and never batting an eye! Best Bach Vacation!
We booked the Hermosa Beach House a combined bachelor/bachelorette party (20 adults), and we were absolutely blown away. Julie and her staff were so accommodating and friendly and the property was even more stunning in person! Wonderful place to stay on the beach
My husband & I rented the entire beach house hotel for our wedding week and we are so happy we did. Our friends and family stayed here and loved the place! The rooms we’re comfortable, Julie was very accommodating and helpful, the pool area and beach view was a dream! Our wedding ceremony was magical. This place is the perfect setup for an event or a much needed relaxing vacation. The area is peaceful with walkable restaurants, and close enough to Jaco if you want more options. This spot is perfect for big groups and any event (wedding, reunion, etc.). The house is beautiful, the pool right next to the beach and outdoor kitchen area are amazing for all day hang outs. Waves are great out front and there are a bunch of other peaks south to surf. The staff are awesome and ready to help with whatever you need (shuttles, DJ’s, photographers). Super clean and you can’t beat the location, we’ll be back with everyone again very soon, thank you guys!

Amazing property, owners, and staff!
This is one of the best vacation homes I have ever rented! The outdoor space is perfect with plenty of covered spaces, shade, and sunshine. The pool is huge! And has plenty of shelfs to sit on and enjoy your cocktail. Location is great especially for a big group, we didn’t rent a car and had no problem getting around. Ubers are cheap and Jaco is only a $5-7 ride. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance. Julie, the owner, clearly cares about her property and that her guests have a great time. She has tons of suggestions for activities and food. The monkey tour is awesome! There’s a little store a short walk away that has the essentials. We try to go somewhere different every year but I would come back here in a heartbeat! Julie thanks so much for a wonderful vacation, you made it really special!

Julie was an amazing hostess including her family! She helped with everything she could, always readily available for assistance and quite honestly went above and beyond on numerous occasions. The HBH staff were helpful and polite. By the end of the week it felt like family. We opted to have ol2 of our daily meals prepared for a no nonsense vacation and every meal was outstanding Plenty of options for people and even took into account specific allergies and remembered it as well! I am supposed to go to aruba next year but I'm ready to go back to Costa Rica! Jaco is a distance from volcanoes and such but julie arranged transfers (edgar) was an amazing driver for numerous points of our trip! Glvery informative, kind and funny..... staff would clean rooms and do laundry whenever we requested but could be done daily just explain your needs when you get there. You won't find a better view than this house, right on the beach with beautiful pool. You'll spend Ostrowski of your time near tue pool though. If you have questions message julie on vrbo and you'll have response quickly. She makes planning a vacation for a large group a whole lot easier!

Paradise on the beach
Right on the beach, large pool, comfortable rooms, dedicated staff - what more could you want. Meals can be optionally prepared by the staff (they have a standard fee) - or you can go out to Jaco or area restaurants - lots of options. We did both & it worked great. Staff is very flexible regarding meal hours/days - they accommodated a very early breakfast when we needed. Can't thank them enough.

We stayed at Hermosa Beach House for my fiancé and i’s combined bachelor/bachelorette trip. This was one of the best vacations I’ve been on. Not only is the property right on the beach, Julie and her crew are amazing. Julie helped us with scheduling tours, food, yoga, and more. She is extremely nice, welcoming and willing to help you with anything you need. The rooms were perfect, clean and spacious. Each room had their own refrigerator and bathroom. The pool is huge and has ocean views. Yoga classes were right on the property and amazing. Highly recommend staying here and we will be back forsure!

Wonderful, relaxing getaway
We had the best time at Hermosa Beach House. The property is beautiful and clean. The pool is HUGE! Much bigger than expected. The “shelf” was a huge hit with our younger ones who didn’t always want to have to swim, they could sit and play. The beach is gorgeous, the waves are so much fun to watch. Sitting in the hot tub and hearing the waves crashing was bliss. A walk down the beach will take you to cliffs and rocks that you’ll want to take tons of photos of. Really beautiful. We had a large group of all ages and there was something for everyone here. Adults enjoyed coffee on the beach each morning. By the pool there is a covered patio with a gorgeous table that seats at least 16. And plenty of picnic tables for the others. The outdoor yoga studio was a great, quiet place to stretch and work out. The property is huge. Even with so many people, we never felt we were on top of each other. There are groupings of comfortable seating everywhere. Whether you are on the beach by the water, or on the shaded sand under the trees there are options for groups to sit in sun or shade all over. By the pool, around the rooms, etc. The rooms were so large and clean! Most rooms have at least 2 beds. Some rooms are perfect for kids with the bunk and double bed. Sometimes kids rooms at rentals are not the best (old furniture, etc) but these rooms are gorgeous. Perfect for kids or adults. Rooms upstairs often had separate sitting areas with a bedroom- so it was like a little apartment or two rooms really. The AC was super cold and worked quickly. I can’t say enough good things about the staff. They have been working for Julie at Hermosa Beach House for 15+ years, which says a lot. Will, the maintenance person arrives at 6am and cleans the whole outdoor space. When you wake up each morning it’s as pristine as when you first arrived. The staff put all of the cushions away each night and Will sets them out each morning so they are always dry and comfortable. The pool deck was cleaned every time we left the house, morning, night, etc. The front desk staff are so nice and helpful. Housekeepers are amazing. The most incredible part was that you rarely actually see them working. It’s like magic. I’m not sure how they get everything done but it feels like they are not even there. I can’t say enough good things about the host, Julie. She was so helpful and kind and made our stay amazing, helping us with shuttles, excursions. We made the most of our stay!

Great location! Great place for large families
What a view! Waking up to the beach and overseeing the waves. Huge pool, great for large gatherings with a great outdoor dining table that fits all 13 of us. The outside patio was amazing. Very close to everything like zip lining, downtown Jaco, grocery stores, restaurants, and bars. The owners, Julie & Jay was super nice and very responsive to all of our needs and requests.
