SkyRanch Joshua Tree - 4500sf Film Exec Retreat

SkyRanch was created by a well-known (and, yes, edgy...) film producer and a prominent screenwriter. This innovative couple used this dramatic setting for film maker retreats. American Psycho was not written here, but a number of their other films were. Renowned actors and directors have all enjoyed the creative vibes and monumental skylines of this comfortable and expansive 5-bed, 4500 square foot desert house.

The space:
SkyRanch is an art lover’s paradise. Each room is a different experience of color and style. The giant one-way mirrored windows throughout ensure you are connected to the desert yet invisible from the outside. Not that you’d need to worry however, the expansive 5 acre property offers unobstructed sweeping views of the horizon and peace and quiet.

The exterior boasts plenty of parking and a wrap around patio complete with massive covered area perfect for yoga, meditation or just getting reprive from the hot desert sun while still enjoying the outdoors. A stand alone outdoor vintage wood burning fire place is a sublime place for s’mores or keeping warm while you watch the stars.

Guests enjoy full access to the 4500 square foot house and 5 acre property.

Other things to note:
The pool area features a modern in-ground pool with an integrated hot tub. Heating for the hot tub is included in your rental. Should you wish to have the pool heated during the cooler season, please notify us in advance of your arrival as there will be a supplemental charge of $180 per day for this service due to excessively high fuel costs in this area. (If you are arriving in the warmer months, there is obviously no need to heat the pool!)

Please note that bedroom 4 images are in a unique Double Bedroom layout that is one large room divided by an enclosed full bathroom. Please see the photo of the floorplan in our listing for details.

Upon booking, you will receive a link with a request to sign and agree to our house rules, verify your identity, pay our refundable security deposit, and schedule a phone call with our manager. Please note that these steps are required for all guests. All steps must be completed in full prior to check-in.

HOUSE RULES:

EXTRA GUESTS
The number of guests on your reservation is the maximum number of people allowable on property at any time. All visitors, day or night, must be cleared with us in writing in advance. Any additional people on site without prior approval will result in immediate cancellation of your reservation, loss of all payments and deposits, and removal from the property. We don't wish to be so blunt, but this has been an ongoing issue and we now have a zero-tolerance policy in this area. Depending on the individual property, we charge between $35 and $300 per person for additional guests on site either day or night, and larger groups also require an event location charge starting at $4000. We love hosting parties and events at some of our properties but they must be negotiated in advance. We request your cooperation and understanding so we can continue to share our amazing homes with the world.

PHOTO & VIDEO
Our property is a beautiful place to shoot photos, and we welcome you to tag us on social media. We charge production fees, which start at $6,000 per day, for all commercial, professional, promotional, editorial and or revenue generating photography and videography generated on property. These must be paid in advance of your arrival along with a signed production agreement, production insurance, film permit and a location release. If it’s a couple of casual photos during your stay that’s totally fine. We consider a shoot commercial if it involves any lighting, support crew, professional equipment, or if the end purpose of the images is tied to any product, service or revenue generating activity or used for editorial or publicity or if any economic benefit is received by you or any of your guests—even if it’s just shot on your phone. If you are in doubt as to whether your shoot would be considered commercial, inquire first. Failure to do so result in immediate cancellation of your reservation, loss of all payments and deposits and removal from property. You will also be held responsible for any production fees in excess of your deposit plus attorneys fees, court costs and hourly management fees incurred in connection with any violations.

DEPOSITS & FEES
We require guests to provide supplemental deposits ranging from $1000 to $5000. These deposits will be requested once your reservation is confirmed, must be paid before check-in, and will be fully refunded within 15 days after checkout if all house rules are followed and the house is left in good condition. Should any violations or damages arise, Foxden may choose to deduct any fees and costs from this deposit in addition to seeking reimbursement from any booking site, any other security deposits paid by the guest.

OFF-HIGHWAY MOTOR VEHICLE RECREATION
All OHMVRs including ATVs, quads, dune buggies and dirt bikes are not allowed anywhere on any of our properties. Please note this means they may not be brought upon our land—even on a trailer that you do not off load. All these vehicles are illegal to operate not only on our property but also on any of the neighboring streets. Bringing an OHMVR onto our land or operating one anywhere in the neighborhood will result in immediate cancellation of your reservation and removal from our home along with forfeiture of all payments and deposits. We have a zero-tolerance policy in this area.

PETS AND SERVICE ANIMALS
We love animals as much as anyone. But due to health risks from severe allergies among some of our guests and owners, we have to keep Casa Agave an animal-free zone with the exception of ADA-compliant Service Animals. Please note this designation does not include Emotional Support Animals which are not allowed on property at any time due to the health risks to the property owner. You must contact us in advance if you wish to bring an ADA-compliant Service Animal so we may provide guidance to ensure a smooth and issue-free stay.

We strongly support the ADA Service Dog policies for those who truly have the need. As you may know, many people abuse the Service Animal classification in order to travel with their personal pets. Please note that Under the ADA, Service Animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered at all times, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of tasks. The Service Animal must also be under the handlers control at all times and may not be left unattended in the house or allowed to roam freely on the property. Also please note that misrepresenting ownership of an ADA Service Dog is a criminal misdemeanor in California punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to six months’ imprisonment.

WILDLIFE SAFETY
For our properties in Joshua Tree, please note this is wilderness land. This means there are numerous animals with whom we share space. From coyotes to snakes to adorable jackrabbits, life is everywhere in the desert. And just like the prickly cacti that populate the area, some of these animals can be dangerous. Treat nature with respect. Do not allow children to explore unattended. You are solely responsible for your safety and the safety of all others on the property during your stay.

SWIMMING
Swimming pools and spas are fantastic and fun. But they can also be hazardous. The deck, stairs and surfaces around pools and spas can be very slippery when wet. Children in and around the pool/spa must be supervised at all times by an adult. Intoxicants and bodies of water are a risky combination. So we need to say this again: you are solely responsible for your safety and the safety of all others on the property during your stay.

SMOKING
All our properties are non-smoking buildings--that includes not only tobacco, but also marijuana and vaping. Smoking indoors will result in forfeiture of your deposit in full and/or costs for smoke remediation that start at $1500 and may be significantly higher. Smoking is only allowed outdoors and more than 25 feet from the house with all windows and doors to the home closed.

A FINAL WORD
We didn’t think we’d have to say this, but no firearms are allowed. Nor are any RVs, Trailers, ATVs, dirt bikes or off-road vehicles, Also not allowed are llamas, helicopters, meth labs, wild animals, fireworks, bombs, flamethrowers, paintball… In summary, anything that is illegal is also illegal at our properties
