The hotel is beautiful in the summer. Our room was comfortable and had direct access to a lovely garden. There seemed to be fun activities going on in the evening, but our room was quiet. The restaurant on site has good food and good service. The breakfast buffet was excellent. It is across the path from a park and the castle. Shopping and dining is a 5 min walk across the street. I was sad that we were only staying for 1 night.

Bang for your buck
Even though it was among the cheaper options, you get value for your money with great service and location. The only bad thing to mention really was that one of the towel nobs in the bathroom was loose. Also great breakfast and an amazing outside bar by the reception

This was close to the train station, and the castle - which is amazing. Rooms large and airy, fan provided as it was hot (no a/c). Quick check in, nice breakfast and we liked the free tea and biscuits being there (hazard of being British). A good choice we felt.

Very good value for money property. Daily room servicing was a bit sparse, but good enough for a short stay. The complimentary evening meal during off season was a real bonus. Breakfast also very good. I would stay here again.

This is the best budget hotel we've stayed at. Only negative is that our bed was really hard. Other than that the room was really clean and the service was fantastic! They also treated all guests to supper in the evening, which we didn't expect but it was otrlreally nice. The breakfast was great too. And the hotel was less than three minutes from the castle by walk.

Detta är vårt andra besök och denna gång bodde vi i annexet, som var ett prisvärt, rymligt och överraskande mysigt alternativ för oss och våra pinaler. Vi vet att man ändå behöver röra sig mellan olika byggnader, vilket är en del av charmen. Varje vända mellan husen får man ögonen på någon ny, spännande detalj. Det är tydligt att ägaren har valt såväl material och råvaror som personal med omsorg. Inredningen kändes genomtänkt för resp. utrymmes behov. Samtliga anställda vi mötte var trevliga i sitt bemötande och skickliga i utförandet av sina resp. roller - man anade en god Team Slottshotellet-anda och skulle själv varit stolt över att jobba där. Kvällsoppan på torsdagen (en fin överraskning) och frukosten var vackert presenterade, uppenbart beredda av prima råvaror och smakade mycket gott. Stor variation på frukostbordet uppskattar vi som gärna vill ha både nyttigheter i form av färska grönsaker, grovt bröd och råa bär i yoghurten och lite guldkant som hemgjord äggröra och pannkakor när vi unnar oss hotellfrukost. Det här är ett toppenhotell som vi rekommenderar alla som behöver boende i Kalmar och som gillar att bli positivt överraskade av både helhet och detaljer. Vi kommer tillbaka lika säkert som att Öland ligger på andra sidan Kalmarsund!
