What I liked about this hotel is the room. The room is cleaned, very comfortable bed, bathroom is roomy. Also this hotel it closes to shopping areas, and great restaurants.

The Fountaine is a clean beautiful establishment. Friendly staff. We also enjoyed the roof top bar and staff. I like having tv streaming options as well. I loved the shower built for two.

Beds are too soft ... our backs hurt in the mornings. Pro tip, there is a completely separate elevator from the garage up directly to the hotel. The sign in the other well, with two elevators is not clear, but it means turn around, go back out into the garage, walk a couple dozen feet to the left, go in a completely different door where there's a single elevator shaft with the hotel logo on the door.

We were given the ground floor room to stay in a sold-out hotel. We did not mind the lack of view, mostly because the ceiling was so tall, which made the room extra spacious. Unfortunately there was NO HOT WATER in the evening. Front desk was apologetic but rather defensive: "Nothing we can do," "Wait until the morning," and the best was "We have 132 rooms." All the years I have spent staying in hotels bigger than this, I have never experienced lack of hot water and such poor explanation. Google review revealed that this is not the first time this happened - so clearly, this it not news for them. There WAS hot water in the morning, after running the faucet for 15 minutes. Otherwise, the staff was wonderful... This was definitely a mixed experience, and I doubt I will stay here again by choice, in a city that offers more reliable options.

The location was very convenient. The room was missing hand soap and the shower floor looked like it had a build up of soap scum. I booked and paid in full through Expedia but when I checked out I had an additional "urban tax" charged. The hotel should have all the pertinent taxes entered into Expedia. The auditor was at the desk when I left and could have been more congenial.

The Fontaine is a wonderful property. The restaurant was excellent. However, there are areas of improvement, especially concerning Expedia VIP Members and our benefits. I had to remind staff about the upgraded room, free drink, and late check-out. They obliged when I mentioned it, but it's always nice when those benefits are top of mind when checking in. There was quiet a bit of wear/tear on the property and in our room including a shattered mirror. This property used to be so fresh. However, it needs a renovation at this point.

It is a unique, beautiful, safe and well maintained property. So close to the plaza we parked the truck for the weekend. Perfect for exploring the KC Plaza area!
