The overall experience improved during the stay but the hotel reception didn’t even know we were booked and calls had to be made to the manager to confirm the online booking. We were unable to contact the hotel directly (the advice given on the Expedia website) for our late arrival as the landline number was not working. There was no coffee available for breakfast on the first morning ( a basic ) and were forced to go out to a nearby cafe. We had to ask for hot water in the room for a shower as the water was cold on arrival. However, things improved by the second day. As it was a last minute booking, we had limited choice of accommodation in the town. The double room had one chair?! I felt that, if it wasn’t for the fact my wife was local, I would have been treated very differently during our stay. Generally the staff were obliging but judging by the number of keys hanging in reception, it’s not the top choice in town.
