The fully renovated side house of Papenwohld is a lovingly and personally designed farmhouse for large groups. Perfect for a relaxing vacation in nature or a creative retreat. With your visit, you also support our charitable projects. Artists' residencies, festivals, workshops, concerts, weddings, and much more have already taken place here.
The original Papenwohld farmhouse was built in seclusion in 1864 and is located directly in the Hüttener-Berge Nature Park. It offers an idyllic atmosphere for relaxation or work amidst the unique cultural landscape. Nearby, there are beautiful lakes and very old forests, and the Baltic Sea beach in Eckernförde is only 11 km away.
Papenwohld is our family home, not a typical or anonymous holiday home. We live here across generations with our animals. We hope that our guests not only feel comfortable but also fit in a bit with us or can truly embrace this environment.
Although groups of more than 25 people have spent nights in the house, we usually rent it to no more than 16 guests. Please carefully read the description, the number of rooms and beds, and look at the photos before deciding if the house is suitable for you.
For some time now, we have had a small office for our charitable projects in the separate bottom right part of the house – so, especially on weekends, you have the house all to yourselves.
The old hallway is the main entrance and has large French doors on both sides, a long dining table, and a kitchen built by us for large groups. Right next door is the first double room, which we call the Garden Room, and a luxurious bathroom with a waterfall shower and a direct view of the garden and the adjacent horse area. The side entrance leads to the utility room next to the house. Directly above the Garden Room is the second double room. A double bed, a comfortable armchair, an even better view of the horses, and a sweet little interior window to the hallway invite relaxation. On the other side of the hallway is the second lovingly designed bathroom.
Upstairs on the opposite side is the so-called Studio, where many bands have recorded their albums. The sunlit room is the living room with plenty of space for seminars, workshops, film or game nights by the wood stove. In addition, there are up to 4 more sleeping places, a hammock, and a small children's play area.
From the Studio and the hallway, you can reach the three small cozy sleeping alcoves with new skylights, which might offer a bit more privacy, even if you are with many people.
In front of the house, there are about 6 parking spaces for our guests. Behind the house is the private garden with a large terrace, sandbox, plenty of space to play, a variety of garden herbs, and of course, the new sauna house.
While the farmhouse is no longer (truly) used for agriculture, we have a few horses that you may occasionally smell. In summer, there are many insects of all kinds. As mentioned, we also have a few pets, but we do everything to keep your space free of animal hair. Please consider this if you have allergies and decide for yourself whether it could be a problem.
I was born in Klein Wittensee on my parents' farm and was drawn into the world of music at an early age. I was often hosted by many different people during my travels, and that's why I love offering accommodation to others here on the farm. While you are here, we are practically neighbors, but don't worry, we are pretty laid-back and genuinely friendly people, and we decide together how much contact is good.
