Affordable Luxury in tranquil setting. Walk to beaches, pool, tennis & dining.

Step through the door of Hale Mahina Kauai and feel the aloha. The great room is the center of the home and opens onto the expansive screened lanai and the tranquil garden in the private back yard beyond. Both the kitchen and master bedroom also open to the lanai which offers dining on the kitchen end and a conversation area outside the master. The two downstairs bedrooms are on opposite sides of the great room for added privacy. Each bedroom has air conditioning and a TV and there is a 55-in smart HDTV in the great room. The upstairs loft has 2 ceiling fans and a window air conditioner (though the cross breeze through the windows on either side of the loft and the fans keep it quite comfortable most of the year)! For those of you who need to stay in touch with the real world, we offer wireless Internet service. There are ceiling fans throughout, including the lanai. The well provisioned kitchen makes preparing meals at home a pleasure as well as a huge money saver. We also provide everything you'll need to enjoy a day at the beach: snorkel gear, boogie boards, umbrella, cooler, beach chairs, beach towels and more. We also include a pack and play, high chair and jogging stroller for your keiki. A much greater value than a hotel.

Hale Mahina is conveniently located in the lushly landscaped 70 acre Poipu Kai Resort; which is a collection of single family homes and condos nestled along the paved greenbelt between the Grand Hyatt Resort and Poipu Beach Park. The single family home is a mere 5-10 minute walk from 3 beaches, the Resort's pool, jacuzzi and 8 tennis courts, the Grand Hyatt Resort, numerous restaurants and activities. Koloa town is 3 miles away and offers additional restaurants, shops and grocery stores. Poipu is the perfect jumping off spot for touring this incredibly beautiful island. It is centrally located between the lush north shore and the spectacular west side with its Waimea Canyon and Na Pali coast overlook. At the end of your day of touring or beaching it you can relax on the tranquil lanai with an umbrella drink or walk to Poipu Beach to watch one of the south shore's spectacular sunsets. We loved our stay at Hale Mahina! The property was appropriately advertised as being a short walk to Poipu Beach, and we took advantage of that convenience, getting up before sunrise so that we could catch the honu before they returned to the sea. The house is an equally nice walk in the opposite direction from Poipu Beach to the Grand Hyatt, which has some bench swings where you can watch the waves come in. The home is clean and spacious, and has a lanai to die for - we spent most of our "chilling" time on that lanai when we weren't off sightseeing somewhere. The one thing I might say is that the cushions on the lounging furniture of the lanai easily slip down, causing some discomfort if you intend to sit for a long time. We were often propping up the support with other pillows from inside the house. The property has a primary bedroom, a second bedroom and a loft, each with an in-window A/C unit. There is no central air in the house, and this was somewhat of an issue for my friends, who wanted the house cool in every room, but a blessing for me, as I much prefer the tradewinds to AC. Several ceiling fans exist throughout the house, in each of the rooms and on the lanai, allowing for a constant breeze to circulate throughout the place. Owners Heather and Dennis were very responsive to our needs, and were very concerned that we enjoy our stay, which we did! I can't wait to come back!

Perfect home base for a trip to Kauai
We really enjoyed staying here. Short (5 min) walk to the beach and pool. Plus centrally located to all the activities either on the east or west sides of the island. Also they provided beach gear including umbrellas, beach chairs, snorkeling gear, a beach wagon and rolling coolers. We have to say the lanai was a hit and much of time at the house was spent out there. We would definitely return to this house in the future.

Perfect example of home away from home! Lovely home with plenty of room for my entire family! We were even able to host a dinner with the in laws! Loved the private back yard. Having the bbq and outdoor amenities to ourselves was a triple plus!! The AC in the bedrooms helped cool it down just before bed to help get a good night sleep, beds, linens perfectly comfortable. Everything we needed for cooking was provided! Plenty of plates, cookware, utensils in good condition are provided. There wasn’t one single thing that I needed for cooking that I couldn’t find. Lots of people have left beach gear to add to what is already provided. Wagon, three beach umbrellas (we left two), fishing poles, paddle board, boogie board, beach chairs, beach towels, lots of different size snorkel masks and fins. All cleaning supplies and paper products provided. Also lots of left over condiments left from past guests (unopened) so be sure to check inventory before going shopping. I bought stuff before arriving and didn’t need to! Including plastic baggies, foil, etc. The only issue we had was a little bit of incomplete work from the cleaning service, which was immediately fixed including compensation. I couldn’t have asked for a better spot to stay. Hit the jackpot when I found this place! Also, pool area and hot tub is about 5-10 min walk (or you can drive and park at Kalapaki joes) and one of the best pool facilities in Poipu Kai area. Thank you!

100 percent would stay here again. We spent 2.5 weeks here before heading to the north side of the island- we loved our time here!! This home is charming- making you feel like you're a part of the island. The linae was one of our favorite things about this home along with all the open windows and doors allowing so much light and sounds in with a soft breeze. We loved how close everything was to the home. We enjoyed walking along the paths to the beach(s) and the provided beach chairs, umbrella and wagon were a life savor. Hosts were quick to respond and helpful. We loved our time here and were incredibly sad to leave. Hope we can make it back again someday!

Heather was so accommodating and responsive to our needs. Location was a great starting point to the beaches on the south side and to travel around Koloa. The best feature of this house was the lanai, it was just so peaceful to relax there! I would not hesitate to come back to this amazing property again!

Great location
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. The back patio was used a lot and we appreciated being able to walk to the beach and other locations. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was the pool since we had to walk a distance to get there and then there were no bathrooms available during our visit. The restaurant near the pool is pretty good and we did go up there to get a snack and use the restroom. We would definitely stay here again!

A week in paradise!
This villa is amazing! It is clean and comfortable and has all the comforts of home! The renovation is beautiful. The home was clean and welcoming. The gardens are peaceful. We loved sitting on the lanai or out back and relaxing, eating meals, and was a great space for getting ready for our wedding. The only downside was having to leave after a week. Mahalo. We hope we can enjoy this space in the future.

We were a family of 4 (with two adult children) that stayed for a week over New Years. Location and house were absolutely perfect! Loved the peaceful walks up and down the greenbelt between Hyatt and Brenneckes. Location is incredible. We have visited Kauai many times before and have family living on island and this is by far our favorite area. Pool was a short walk from the house. House had everything we needed (enjoyed the well- stocked kitchen and lanai as others have shared). We played many card games around the big dining table. Really appreciate all the things provided for the beach -like towels, chairs and boogie boards. Mahalo for sharing your home with us. Couldn't ask for more. We would love to come back!

what a beautiful and spacious house! Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Our favorite part was taking a walk to the beach every morning and having breakfast on the lanai. The living room has a huge couch where you can relax in the evenings watching movies on the smart TV. Each bedroom has a/c although we didn’t have to use it. Garage is full of beach equipment and beach toys and inflatables. Beds are comfortable and showers are great. Lovely stay!

The location was great ! A short walk to one of the best beaches on the island . My morning routine going to see the sunrise was so amazing and the smell at that beach as I walked down the pathway was delicious ! maybe guava and eucalyptus . The front patio coffee spot was perfect with tiny geckos and the birds made me feel even more connected to the island. Little warning about the water. it takes a good 3-5 minutes to heat up but after that all is well ! There was shampoo and conditioner but no body wash . The bed in the bedroom upstairs in the loft is the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in! I broke my wrist on the trip six days in, and that bed meant everything to me after I had my arm in a sling. Downstairs master bedroom bed is quite firm. Overall, I think it’s a great rental ! Super nice that we had everything we needed for the beach! If I had any suggestion, I would say the downstairs bedroom, Sneed softer beds, but some people like for meds, but not me ! Everything went smoothly with check-in and communication was pretty prompt . I love this part of the island. It was our first stay in Koloa. Fifth time on the island Kawai is our absolute favorite.

Perfect for a family.
The house had everything you need for a family. Large lanai was perfect for meals and enjoying the weather. Poipu beach is very close to walk or drive. Everything you needed for the beach was at the house. Beds were comfortable, showers were fabulous. The ice machine was very handy for packing a cooler. The gas grill was in good working order, which is a plus for family dinners. Just too many nice things to day about our stay. You must pick this place, you will be in Kauai heaven!

Amazing!
This house was so awesome, my family and I loved staying here and it was hard to leave. The whole house was great but everyone favorite was the screened lanai, everyone spend most of their time out there, when we weren't at the beautiful south shore beaches. We had our coffee out there, ate our dinners or just sat and watched the rain or the sunlight through the trees. The house was very well stocked and the owners were so quick to respond to any questions. I highly recommend this home! Holly
