We got the suite with 2 twin bedsroom and 3 futons within a tatami room. It was a bit cramped for us but it made things very cozy. The bed was too close to the bathroom and toilet doors so some body contortions are needed. The futons were very comfy and I felt very well rested as the neighborhood is mostly for locals and it was very quiet at night being several minutes away from the main arterials. The room was perfectly cool for the hot summer days in Kyoto. We didn’t get a chance to use the kitchen, but did use the fridge with all the Family Mart and 7-11 goodies and Pocari Sweat. The closet is very small and access was a bit wonky with the slider partitions shared right next to the kitchen that made it a chore sometimes and we had to be careful to not pinch the fingers.
The laundry facility had 4 pairs of coin washer dryers which we used almost daily due to the summer sweats. Try to catch it when everyone else is still out for dinner and be sure to clean the dryer lint filter before use for a quicker dry time.
Walking the streets of Kyoto between nishiki market and back at night were super safe. Close to Shijo station about 10minute walk, great to catch for Nara and Tori gates. It was a bit of a walk to Randen station to catch the Vintage streetcar to the bamboo forest. The location is quite a long way from the busiest parts of Kyoto and Gion but felt like a good location to not be so close to the loud crowded tourist areas. Awesome little soba shop nearby.
