Home with deck over the water
In the past I have rated two homes with 5 stars. These homes were well equipped, with 3 or 4 bedrooms, infinity pools, perched high on a cliff overlooking the ocean, at $200-$250 a night. I thought these homes offered exceptional value and deserved 5 stares. This apartment does not have these features and has some kitchen issues (see below) but at a rate of much less than $100 a night, it offers exceptional value deserving a 5 star rating. This apartment may be the best value on the island!
My wife and I stayed in Celines' apartment for one week in early Feburary. We were greated by Celines' representative ,Tony, with an open bar of 20 or so of local Martinique spirits. Tony will be the nicest person you will ever meet, he helped park our car along the street, brought our luggage up the steps, and made sure we were comfortable in the apartment. He brought us several self made pastries on Valentines day, including one, heart shaped.
The apartment is in a working class neighborhood on the main thoroughfare through town. You enter by a doorway on the street and walk along a narrow hallway to steps which lead to the door of the apartment. The door opens into a large living room and a spectacular large wooden deck perched over the water. There is seating for a small army, there are many plastic chairs and several plastic lounge chairs at your disposal. The kitchen is open to the living room with an unobstructed view of the deck and the water. The kitchen is large with plenty of counter space. The apartment contains two air conditioned bedrooms, the second being especially large with a double bed and a bunk bed, and room for another bunk bed. There are two bathrooms, one is especially large with an open shower and a corner soaking tub with three pillow mounts. The apartment makes you feel like you should invite 20 or more friends and have a party. This is an eclectic apartment and Tony is working on a second floor to make it even more unique and expansive.
We ate all our meals in the apartment. The kitchen could use a good set of knives for slicing and chopping, coffee cups, a small baking dish, a good cutting board, hot pads, hot plates, and a potato masher. A dishwasher would have been good extra, there is a place for one, where a washing machine now is. The bedrooms need blackout curtains, something that Tony is working on.
There is a bakery across the street, two great in town beaches, with calm water and shade.
