So lovely and peaceful!
This was the perfect place for me to stay with my kids! So spacious and easy to make yourself at home. Close enough to everything that it was very convenient, and far enough outside of town to have some quiet. The owners are such lovely people. You can tell the whole property has had a lot of love put into it. I'm sure we'll be back.

Is this heaven?
I don't know where to begin! When I arrived, I was greeted by Christy. She made me feel right at home and told me that I could just roam about and boy am I glad I did! The entire place was like a playground for "people of a certain age". Whimsy and sentiment abound! Everything was so clean, comfortable, and convenient. It was the perfect retreat 20 minutes from home. ☺️

We loved seeing the creativity of the hosts and them telling us the stories behind their collections. The accomocations were great, except a shortage of hot water, and it was peaceful and quiet. We want to definitely stay here again.

Anniversary getaway!
We booked our stay at the Converted Barn in Opelousas, La for our anniversary. We had no clue what lay ahead but took our chances because this place listed was so unusual we didn’t want to stay in a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at the unique materials and vintage pieces used to convert this barn into a warm and inviting place to stay. Looking around almost anyone could see vintage pieces reminding them of a time in their life when they didn’t have a care in the world. We would see a piece and say, “wow, I remember when my grandmother used that” or “I remember, as a child, playing with that”. You will not be disappointed coming here. The building next to us was a old building that had a bar, dance floor, stage, bedrooms and bathrooms that you could also rent. We may try this next time we visit. Jim and Christy were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed talking with them and discussing the history of the place and town. Thank you for opening up your home for a private tour. Hope to see you again real soon!

The Real Deal
If you are looking for a truly authentic experience, check out this guest house! Very rustic one-of-a-kind experience. The owners Jim and Christy are nearby and very welcoming hosts. There was a vase of fresh camellias from the garden on the kitchen table when we arrived. Short drive to Lafayette - 20 minutes.

Perfect Southern Louisiana living!
The barn, from the look to the smell, is sooooo Southern Louisiana! They have done amazing things with the renovation. The property is full of trees and flowers and birds and possible a turkey (??). There were so many authentic food choices in the area, I felt like I had to try them all! I can't wait to make a return trip to the barn.

Fantastic, interesting, homey and entertaining
The folk art barn was great. We spent 3 nights and continued to find new art and interesting bits of the house the whole time. To make it even better, there is a private music venue on the property and we were able to see an excellent show one of the nights we were there. Jim and Christy were both very welcoming.

We loved the barn stay, the yards and of course the Whirlybird! We were very comfortable there and loved all the different, eclectic things to look at everywhere. A very unique setting and decor is so cool. An artists grotto. A great place for couple or family. Tucked away in lush landscape, live oaks and banana trees provide shade for a most interesting home. Definitely coming back already made my reservation.

Fantastic!
When planning our Cajun country tour, we wanted to stay in a place that gave us feel for the local culture of this incredible area of the country...and we found it! This place is one of the most unique places I've ever stayed...and I mean that in a very good way! First, the location is fantastic in that it is central to many of the key Cajun area attractions - it's only 15 minutes from Lafayette, 25 minutes from Mamou, Eunice, Breaux Bridge, and an hour from New Iberia. The place itself is not only large (can easily sleep 4) and clean, but it is quaint and incredibly decorated with an amazing local (and eclectic) feel to it. Don't forget to step out the back door and take a tour of the "Whirlybird", which is awesome little Honky-tonk owned and operated by the owners of this location. Perhaps, the best part of our stay was getting to know the owners, James and Christy Phillips. Not only did James take the time on a Saturday morning to drive us to town and show us where to get a new tire, but we most appreciated the time James and Christy took sharing with us about the local culture of this most unique area of this country. If you are heading to this part of the country and want to experience this beautiful culture on many levels, this is the place for you! We hope to return soon!
