This modernized Cottage provides the perfect lake playground for your vacation.
ABOUT THE COTTAGE LOCATION AND THE LAKE
The cottage is 2 places up the inlet/channel to 250 acre all-sport Townline Lake. I've remade the 'old building out back' into a modern experience, with deck, dock, grill, and all the amenities! Relax , play in the lake, launch your own boat, use the kayaks or pedal boat, cook s'mores. Spend days outdoors relaxing, or fishing, swimming, or bike-pedaling around the lake. Kids love to hunt the mighty turtles! There's a firepit.
Attached deck sits over the channel. To one side is a little-used community access lot with children’s swings. Corn-hole game for your competitive streak.
Fish bluegills, bass, crawpy, sunnies, or an occasional bullhead, or pike. There's a bass fishing tournament usually once a month, known for giving up the occasional trophy small-mouth!
WHAT'S HAPPENING CLOSEBY
Hike west Michigan trails, enjoy West Michigan life. Nearby you can visit new wineries, old orchards, or the cheese factory. Head for Amish farmstands for eggs, fabulous West Michigan fruits, and other so-fresh produce. Treat yourself to some of the best country ice cream at King’s Store, famous in these parts.
Head a little further west for Lake Michigan’s pristine shores. Or cast a line into any of Michigan’s more than 65,000 waterways, rivers, and lakes – 11,000+ lakes larger than 5 acres. Here you are never more than a few minutes from some other kind of water, nor more than 85 miles from a Great Lake.
Perhaps you're looking for a quiet getaway for two, and to explore west Michigan? Grand Rapids, 'Craft Beer City USA', is less than an hour away, have a taste at the original Founders. Or sample your favorites and taste an all-new ale at nearby breweries- there’s been an explosion of local/Michigan craft breweries in recent years, not to be missed by the new ale or IPA lover.
And there's a casino in Mt. Pleasant, 45 minutes away.
ACTIVITIES ON TOWNLINE LAKE
Two kayaks and a paddle boat - and there is a public launch for your own fishing boat or pontoon and yoy will tie off at your own private dock.
An island ‘sandbar’ and the shallows – take a bag chair kn a kayak to the sandbar, tie off and sit ankle deep in water on the sandy bottom. Read. Cocktail. If you’re lucky, get called into a game of water-volleyball. Head to the deeper water and swimming-hole cove. Townline Lake's waters warm in June, cool mid-September.
Enjoy birdwatching – we host all of Michigan’s woodpeckers here, we feed the orioles through June, and the hummingbirds all summer. Watch the Buzzard ballet from your deck.. their graceful sky gliding is beautiful to see. Watch Harriette, the great blue heron, as she wades the edges for crawfish.
IN THE COTTAGE
The perfect 'new' place for a getaway for a single person, a couple, or a family/group of four. It’s a fresh welcoming space, 17.5’ x 17.5’, and has two floors with new cottage comforts. Queen size bed down, twin beds up, a little cottage. Pets: it is a pet-free environment, no tobacco smoking, no vaping, permitted inside or outside.
It includes your choice of cooking surfaces, some kept in drawers… a Nu Wave Cook Surface with Nu Wave pans – with Instructions for the first time user. A standard two-element burner in another drawer. An outdoor grill. A griddle. A crockpot. A micro-wave. Firepit. Eating space for 4/5. NO OVEN in this little spot.
PROVIDED:
Dishes/cutlery, cooking appliances, bedding, bath towels, beach towels.
A locker, and baskets and shelves provide more storage space. The downstairs bed is high, with several large tubs underneath for your extra clothes and provisions. Upstairs is a good place to put less-used items.
A queen-sized bed is on the main floor. The upstairs is short. It is a peaked room with just 5’ 5” standing space in the middle, so it's like an attic hideaway with beds on the floor. Two camp chairs look to the channel. And (just) enough space in the attic to add a single air mattress for a five-member family.
Next door, just inside the back door is a washer and dryer for your use.
There's a flat screen tv and dvd available - reception is nil - bring your hotspot and Roku if watching TV. There's so much nothing to do, that no-one has yet said they miss having TV. Some have said "..what was I thinking?" There is pretty reliable SPECTRUM internet service.
A 12x12 deck is perfect for reading, grilling, relaxing, watching boats pass heading to the swimming hole.
