We only had time to stay one night at Grasteinn, but it was truly wonderful! The cottage that we stayed in was very well-designed, very clean, and the owners had thought of everything that we might need. It was really perfect. Our 8-year old was so excited to meet the dogs, and he especially loved visiting the sheep house and meeting Athena and the rest of the flock. Breakfast the next morning was in the main house and was exactly what we'd hoped it would be--delicious, filling, and friendly. We couldn't have enjoyed it more--we hope to be back as soon as possible!

The owners were amazing. I had a small accident with a nail going through my hand (my own fault), and Hildur went out of her way to treat my wound, apply antibacterial cream, etc. - something way out of the normal job description of a property owner. Also, beautiful place, very comfortable, and fantastic breakfast. Highly recommend.

The room was beautiful and spacious. The owners were very courteous and warm, and breakfast included freshly baked homemade bread. It felt like we were part of their family and we wished we could have stayed longer.

Meet the real Iceland...
This was an amazing experience. The family that owns/runs the guesthouse is very friendly and so knowledgeable in everything local. From sheep farming, local wildlife, geology of Iceland. You name it...and they happily share their knowledge. We had wonderful conversations with both. They are also very welcoming and allow usage of the kitchen, laundry (small charge) and are happy to help with anything you need. Such a different experience from staying at a hotel and definitely worth it.

Nice place out in the country on a farm. Breakfast was great with many home made items. Room was a basement room with limited view of the country. It was a bit expensive but worth it. Would we go again? Definitely.

cute little place. slight "farm house smell" within the room. no big deal. host was great, breakfast good. everything within line by Icelandic standards can recommend. no food close by, plan ahead.

If you're going to be in the area, there's no other place to stay . This place is so cozy and nice.. It's slightly hard to find at night but I almost left when I arrived late but the staff ran out to get me when I was already down the street.. The view was phenomenal. Definitely will come back to this place

Expérience authentique ! C'est la petite fille des propriétaires qui m'a reçue parce que ses parents devaient s'occuper des moutons. Et à mon départ j'ai rejoint la patronne un peu plus bas sur la piste, travaillant dans les enclos , pour la saluer. J'ai trouvé ça très rafraîchissant! Les propriétaires ont de la conversation (en anglais) et donnent volontiers des conseils sur les routes à emprunter (ou non) sur votre itinéraire.

Guesthouse atypique
Joli petit cottage bien aménagé. Petit déjeuner royal servi à l'heure que vous le souhaitez à votre porte par l'hôte elle même. Il est copieux et excellent. Par contre le ménage laisse à désirer dans le cottage (pas mal de poils et cheveux par terre et autres poussières). De plus la wifi ne fonctionne quasiment pas (un peu dans la pièce à vivre mais plus rien dans la chambre). C'est dommage quand le temps n'est pas en autre faveur et qu'il n'y a pas grand chose à faire dans les environs.
