Poor experience
Getting to the hotel was difficult as there were road works right outside the hotel and road closure. I called ‘simply stay’ and they said they can’t help and that I should call hotel.com. Eventually I parked on the road, some distance away and walked to the hotel with my bags. On entering the room, it was freezing cold. The bathroom light wasn’t working. I again called simply stay. They said someone would come and check. 45mins yes later, when I one had arrived, i called simply stay again. They said the person was on the way and he arrived shortly after that. He couldn’t get the room heater to work. He eventually got a portable heater(the first one wasn’t working but the second one was). He also got the bathroom light working. It was midnight before he was done and I was finally able to get to sleep. I just add that this isn’t the first time I’ve had problems with the heater in room 12 in Hamilton hotel and I’ve reported it each time.

Grand old Victorian property. tastefully decorated and modernised. Quiet and comfortable. Value-for-money absolutely terrific. Easy access and parking.

I definitely recommend
Great that you check yourself in so there are no time restrictions. Clean. Quiet. Lots of lightning and sockets. Breakfast items are in your room ready for the morning. The kitchen is very nice, big and useful. Nice touches like shower caps. I definitely recommend.

Hotel prices for low quality hostel experience
Not a pleasant stay. The building and rooms are accessed with codes sent to you, it's completely unmanned and if you try calling the associated number you're put through to a call centre outside of the UK. House rules are spelled out but guests simply ignore them as there are no reprocussions of being kicked out. Our neighbors were smoking and taking drugs in their room and we're in and out all night keeping us up. When I called for help, I was simply told they were checking out the next day and there's nothing else they can do. The next day there was a party upstairs - I didn't bother calling. The room itself was okay, it wasn't properly cleaned but it was fine. The breakfast is laughable so don't expect to be eating anything decent and burning myself on the exposed hot pipe in the crampt shower just topped the experience off. Stay anywhere else but here or their sister hotel "Tennyson"

Good value for money!
Good value for money. Clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was basic but fine - we actually walked to the Wetherspoons just up the road. The hotel was nice and quiet and had a large kitchen, which we didn't need to use. En suite was good. We didn't have any of the issues mentioned by others - there was tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc in the room plus spares in the kitchen. Entry codes were sent well before arrival.

Decor to a reasonable standard. However:- No plug sockets by the bed. No tea bags. No shampoo, conditioner or hair dryer supplied. Summer quilt in cold weather. Heating off in the night so woke up in the early hours cold. Smokers in the building so smell coming in. And soiled chair and carpets. Extremely uncomfortable bed.
