The cottage is definitely a fisherman’s cottage. The beds were amazingly comfy (2 single pushed together) note here is sloped ceiling so unable to sit up in bed. Skylight window with blind, bedroom was fabulously dark but if you want to be able to see a little top tip is take a plug in night light. Large kitchen with fridge, no freezer, didn’t bother us because we mostly ate out (but don’t take frozen food) Also if you planning on cooking there are no big mixing bowls, measuring jug, pizza pan, oven trays etc so aim keep it simple. (I was not planning on cooking 😆😆) Lounge with tv although it only worked one day out of 7 due to indoor Ariel unable to pick up signals despite re-tuning a number of times. Again this didn’t bother us because we were fishing till late and just attempted to watch it for the last hour before bed. Another tip here is perhaps bring some DVDs as they fit in the television or download yourself some movies onto your iPad/tablet. Outside was idyllic, wooden bench and plastic table and chairs. If you planning on laying out to read your book while your other half fishes take your own sun lounger, we took ours and it was invaluable. They provided two small towels so again I would take your own, I always carry bath sheets so it was not a problem. Tea, coffee sugar & milk provided but remember to take all your own toiletries, toilet roll, washing up liquid, foil etc
So, that’s the cottage now to the fishing lake. Idyllic surroundings and when there is nobody camping all the pegs are yours (though you already have your own private section fenced off right in front of cottage) Rudd, carp, roach all in excellent condition up to about 25lbs. If you don’t like fishing in weed there is a lot however, the carp top feed so if you bait to surface feed you will have no problems we were pulling out carp 6-8lbs and of course the one that got away 😉 We had a great time fishing.
The owner John is a real friendly man, nothing too much trouble and he called daily to ensure we were ok. He has more plans for the lake, it is a work in progress and I think it will go from strength to strength. Owen is the fisherman and he also visits daily to offer tips and tricks for fishing. Let me tell you this man knows every inch of that lake and is an extremely experienced and accomplished fisherman. You need to listen to what he tells you because without him I would not have caught my 8 1/2 pound carp. Thank you so so much Owen. xx
