This historic structure was originally a 2-story log home built in 1813. The home was used as an Inn or tavern along the Old Federal Road leading from Columbus to Springfield. The Federal Road was used prior to the construction of the National Road (AKA, Cumberland Road, or US Route 40). In 2020, I began the project of saving what I could of this old cabin. Most of the first-floor logs were rotted and/or unusable. Moreover, after more than 200 years the stone foundation was shot. Hence, the decision was made to disassemble the second floor of the original cabin and then reassemble it on a new foundation with walk-out basement. Many of the usable first-floor logs were then used as support beams or for other purposes. The cabin now has all new amenities. This rebuilt cabin overlooks Deer Creek and a 50 plus acre wetlands area. An eagleās nest is located within the wetland area which can be seen with a good pair of binoculars. Two eaglets were born in the spring of 2023 and are now flying around the area with their parents. The property is 1 mile from I-70 and is only a 30-minute drive to Columbus, OH. The cabin has a covered porch, patio, firepit, and hot tub. Self check-in with keypad.
