Nice place great staff
The hotel is very nice although rooms are smallish. Hotel staff was great. Only issue was that they hosted a private party in their dining area the first night that they allowed to flow into the parking area right outside the hotel rooms. The party was loud and boisterous and continued to well after midnight. The next morning I notified management and they were kind enough to comp the night’s charge. Would definitely stay here again

Front desk customer service was excellent. Valet service was great. All employees were friendly. Room was beautiful, as were the entire grounds. Restaurant food was delicious. Location was perfect for us.

Wonderful stay in LA
Super location for restaurants and the motion picture museum as well as shopping. Hotel bar had terrific food and drinks and staff. Would definitely recommend and stay here again!

The Hotel was cute, it was clean. Great location for the Farmers market and The Grove (outdoor Mall). Hotel/MOTEL is OVER-PRICED! Staff, two girls at the front counter, very unhelpful. Ran out of sugar, ran out of coffee, they didn't budge, said they would call housekeeping. To busy on their phone. PARKING expensive for guests! MY SHEET HAD A HUGE RIP IN IT!! I took a picture to post!!

What a lovely hotel! It appears to be a renovated motor lodge from the 1950s. It has a very nice lobby and place to hang out. It is very close to a large shopping area and within walking distance of the tar pits, art, museum, and Peterson car museum. I will stay there next time.

I typically stay at branded hotels like Hilton, Bonvoy, etc. because they have standards and I know what to expect. I particularly needed to stay in this area and non of these branded hotels had presence so I found the Short Stories hotel within walking distance from where I needed to be. The place exceeded my expectations. The room decor is meticulous, had everything I needed and it was extremely clean. While the hotel rating online is 3 stars. I would give the room a 4 stars. Would have been nice to have a coffee machine in the room but they offer complementary coffee in the lobby. The common areas and pool is exceptionally clean. The hotel does not offer breakfast. The restaurant onsite only offers lunch and dinner. I had a good overall experience and would recommend it. I would stay there again!

We've stayed at Short Stories several times, even before the rebrand and reopening a couple years ago. It's always a solid stay in a great location. Service is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, great given that I needed to work from the room. We love that there are so many books in the room; wish we had time to read them. On the downside, the onsite restaurant is more a bar that serves some food and only open limited hours. However, the Farmer's Market and The Grove are right across the street with lots of dining options and even more restaurants are within a 10-minute walk. We ran into a problem where our shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. We let them know but it wasn't ever fixed. Still we'd likely stay there again.

The location was great, across the road from the The Grove shopping area with lots of places to eat. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Unfortunately our room was incredibly noisy, we barely slept for our 3 night stay. We could hear the guests next to us and above us banging around until early hours in the morning and car alarms going off in the side street next to us. It was also extremely expensive for what was received, especially after all the added extra fees which were not specified on Expedia prior to booking. This was unfortunately our least favourite accommodation on our California road trip.
