A Most Extraordinary Cottage
From the moment we arrived we felt the care of the owners in their attention to every aspect of our comfort. Just entering the grounds of this property created in us a sense of joyful anticipation. The exterior of the cottage is absolutely charming and the grounds are gorgeous. Holly and Tom have created a beautifully appointed space perfect for relaxing and rejuvenating. Upon entering the cottage we were greeted with a personalized welcome sign, a vase of fresh flowers and soft music playing; such nice touches. In every room there are special touches and some nice surprises which made us feel at home. We could go on and on about all that we loved about staying in this sweet cottage but we want to quell our enthusiasm so others can have the pleasure of discovering the delights for themselves. Our only disappointment was that we were in Lynchburg for just a couple of days with a busy schedule and could not spend ALL of our time enjoying the peace of this unique place. However, we are planning to do just that, many times in the future.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Carriage House, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Being a fan of the Rivermont area, I was thrilled to find this gem situated right where I love to be. The moment I arrived, I felt instantly at home. The hosts have truly thought of everything. And the muffins… OMG, if you know, you know – they’re amazing! The Carriage House is equipped with all the amenities you might need, plus those little things you might forget to pack. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and it’s clear that no detail has been overlooked. The place is stocked with books, games, and puzzles, perfect for some cozy downtime. They’ve also provided a wonderful guide to the area, which was spot-on and full of great recommendations. The description on the listing is 100% accurate, and the experience exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance!

Absolutely charming!
I spent three nights at the Carriage House with my 90-lb dog, Freya. Upon arrival, we found personalized welcome cards, fresh muffins for me and a basket of treats and brand-new toys (!) for Freya. Everything, including the coffee, tea, snacks, toiletries provided, was of the highest quality. The grounds had enough space for short walks and exercise, and Riverside Park was just a couple of minutes’ drive down the road for nice longer walks. There is plenty of parking space, the screened-in porch is lovely, and the interior decor is charming. The bedroom and bathroom are both upstairs. Altogether an exquisite place to stay. I highly recommend the Carriage House.

A classic carriage house weekend!!!!
My wife and I were delighted to spend 4 nights at Holly and Tom’s property.The carriage house has been beautifully restored and furnished. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch. Holly’s blueberry muffins were delicious and our coffee habit was met with lots of options. We had a wonderful time exploring Lynchburg. Warm, welcoming and charming Carriage House
We were in town to help move our son to Lynchburg and loved our stay at the Carriage House. It was the perfect place to relax after a long drive and busy week leading up to our trip. Every detail was so thoughtful and the hosts Southern hospitality made us (and our dog Harvey) feel so welcomed.

Cozy Cottage with everything you need!
This cottage is in a beautiful neighborhood of Lynchburg. The cottage itself is cozy, immaculate and beautiful. Everything you need is here, including snacks(granola bars, microwave popcorn and bottled water in the fridge). If you forgot any toiletries, don’t worry, shampoo, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes are available in the bathroom. The host has thought of everything. I plan to stay here again in the future.

Very nice, beautiful small cottage.
Our stay was very nice. We enjoyed the privacy. The carriage house is beautifully decorated and has everything you would ever need. The steps are steep and narrow so keep that in mind. It is not a place for anyone with mobility issues.

This was my wife’s and I second visit to the carriage house. This stay was equally as good as the first! The property was clean, the bed comfortable, and neighborhood quiet. Tom and Holly were super responsive and hospitable. You can tell they take pride in this property. The property is also perfectly located close to the Blue Ridge parkway. My wife and I were able to head into the mountains for a day of hiking and be back in time for dinner. Next time we are in Central VA, we will be staying here again!

Perfect location and stay
I was in Lynchburg for a wedding and so enjoyed my stay at the Rivermont Carriage House. It was a perfect and beautiful location. I loved the historic aspect and the amenities were amazing. It was raining and thundering on Saturday morning before the wedding, but I fully enjoyed my coffee and muffin on the screened patio, having an opportunity to listen to the rain, read, and write. I really enjoyed listening to the jazz blue notes album on the record player while getting dressed for the wedding. I felt pampered. The weather cleared and I was able to walk the avenue after the wedding. The bed was super comfortable and Holly and her husband made the visit seamless with every amenity you can imagine. I would come back just to enjoy the ambience and quiet and beauty. I will be back. Thanks so much for a wonderful getaway!

Charm and Grace Away From Home
First of all, thank you Holly and Tom. We had the loveliest 3 nights at the Carriage House. From lights on throughout when we arrived to bring greeted by a kind note and plate of homemade blueberry muffins welcoming us, there was no hospitality spared. Cleanliness and comfort are a standard here. We loved being able to enjoy walking on the Rivermont District and take in its beauty as well as take in the calm during the rain on the screen porch. Some amazing above and beyond touches: 1/2 gallon of milk, bottled water, flavored water, excellent coffee and tea bar, granola bars, selection of chocolates jarred, oatmeal selection, oils and spices to cook with, soaps, soaks, emergency toiletries, floor fans, umbrellas, flashlights, magazines, record player and records, robes, games and books. I am sure I am not listing everything, but I am sure you have the idea, our hosts have covered it all. Hopefully you will select the Carriage House as an amazing opportunity to be refreshed and rested during your stay in Lynchburg. Many thanks and look forward to our return.

Great Rivermont Cottage
I rented the cottage (a block away from our home) for overflow of family for Thanksgiving weekend. They said it was very well stocked and had nice amenities. Holly was wonderful to work with. My son shared one of the muffins Holly left for them. Delicious! I will definitely rent again when we need extra space for family and friends.

Perfect choice!
We loved our stay at the carriage house! Both my husband and I grew up in this area and were looking for something nearby for a little weekend away. This was perfect and beyond expectations. Absolutely clean, all the essentials plus a lot of unexpected amenities, and just an overall pleasing stay. If it hadn’t been raining and cold, we would’ve loved using the fire pit and screened porch…next time!

This carriage house was so cozy and comfy. From the plate of fresh baked muffins and welcome note to all the little comforts of home, this was a most enjoyable stay. We loved it! The property was very neat and clean. The host were great communicators and we’re awesome. Little snacks and bonus items provided and that was a very nice touch. Wonderful relaxing cottage!
We enjoyed our stay at the Rivermont Carriage House. Tom & Holly were gracious and thoughtful hosts. The welcome note and delicious blueberry muffins were a nice personal touch! The cottage was wonderful, quite and stocked with anything we needed. The screened porch was a delight for morning coffee or evening fireflies.

My second time staying at the carriage house-and I’m coming back in April! I’m a travel nurse and Holly and Tom have been so accommodating and are such gems. Fresh milk, water, drinks waiting in the frig and again fresh baked muffins on the counter with a sweet note. The house is amazing and bed is so comfy! There is nothing bad to say about this place…other than it’s not my 2nd home!!!

Beyond expectation
I’m a travel nurse and The Carriage House is a home away from home! Their attention to detail, the horse/carriage theme and cohesive design throughout the cottage is amazing! Holly was so kind to allow me to drop off my perishables in the morning before checkin on my way to work. She even unpacked them for me and placed them in the carriage house frig for me. A plate of delicious homemade blueberry muffins and a sweet note of welcome was waiting for me when I got in after my 12 hour shift. Anything you might think you’d need or have forgotten is already there-tea bags, coffee pods, snacks, toiletries. The lush greenery throughout the cottage gives it such a comforting feel. I’m already booked a few more times during my assignment and will look forward to their amazing hospitality and fabulous property. You cannot go wrong staying here!!!
