We had a wonderful experience at Barceló Torre de Madrid. Location-wise, the hotel is perfectly situated right across from Plaza de España offering easy access to nearby attractions. Very good breakfast buffet. Eggs made to order and multiple options to eat. Very happy with it. Cold a/c. Clean room and hotel. Said VIP hotel perks, like room upgrade (when available) and daily gift card. When asked about this upon check in they had no clue. Great staff at the breakfast buffet and the downstairs bar/ restaurant. The spa staff was wonderful. Both my wife and I enjoyed massages. My wife also got the facial. She was very pleased. The massage was one of the best I’ve had.

This is a very large hotel (and chain). The hotel generally quiet and the location is great. But the lack of a decent coffee in the room and poor wifi in the room are not Ok in this day and age. We stayed in other hotels thru Portugal and Spain, the Barcelo failed in these regards. The split elevator is also kind of a hassle. I understand that the hotel shares the building with other uses but it is inconvenient.
