I really did not like this hotel. It is definitely designed for mass tourism. The lobby area had an eternal Grand Central at rush hour feel. The staff at reception is efficient but lacking in warmth or charm. The room I was assigned the very worst in the place. View was of the four interior walls of the building. The room walls were scuffed, stained. Bathroom caulking had rust stains. For a 4-star hotel one expects better aesthetics. Their famous roof top bar is a popular tourist attraction which multiplies the hotel crowds. Good view but hot and smoky. We made our way down to the gastropub which has pretty good food and service. The saving grace of this hotel is the buffet breakfast which I must admit was outstanding. It even includes a Mimosa station. Make sure you go early otherwise you need to wait in line for a long time. Outstanding were Yohan, one of the hotel managers, and Hector, a greeter in the main lobby and the staff at the gastrobpub who were very helpful and accommodating. Also, unless you previously make arrangements by which you prepay an estimated amount of how much you think you will consume, you can't charge anything to your room so always have your credit card with you. The elevator system is complicated because you can't control it from inside the elevator. So if you end up on the wrong floor you need to step off the elevator and then call for a new elevator using your key card. Did not care for this sample of the RIU chain. Melia, Barceló or NH for me.
