I booked a basic room, it is very small, does not even have a chair, only one stool and a console table big enough for an iPad. It lacks amenities, there is no minibar fridge, no toothbrush, no razor, etc. I was told razor was available on request when checking out, but nobody told me that during check in, so it is clearly about saving money. But it is clean, and location is good.

Great and modern hotel in an old building. Very clean, very friendly and efficient staff. Good food at the bar and very nice breakfast. The area around the hotel is very pleasant, walkable with plenty of restaurants and shops. The "Puerta del Sol" and "Plaza Mayor" are in short walking. I will go back next time I visit Madrid.

Great location since it’s right on the Gran Vía and you can walk to stores and restaurants. On the other hand, I received a room without a working television or internet. I could not access room service. They had a person come to my room on several occasions to try to solve the internet/tv issue by watching YouTube problem/solution videos to try to fix it. It was 10pm and he was still trying to fix it. I asked for another room and they said unless someone cancelled they could not offer me a room. I asked to talk to the manager and they said I had to wait until the next day. They had no intention in helping me feel welcome. I ended up calling Expedia and getting a refund. At 11:15pm the lady from the front desk called me to make sure I was leaving the room. I booked that night at the Riu Plaza España which I am grateful for. Their service is beyond excellent. If you are visiting Madrid, go to the Riu.

The hotel is in a the heart of the city…when you walkout the front door you’re on the Main Street, leading to all the little side streets with shopping, and great restaurants.
